PSG have yet to be asked questions

494

Friday night is the new Saturday afternoon, apparently. Celtic, Paris Saint-Germain and Anderlecht all play tomorrow evening. Only Bayern Munich from our Champions League group have a weekend game; on Saturday, so there will be little advantage gained from the earlier domestic kick-off.

PSG are away to Metz, near the German border. Whereas PSG are top of Ligue 1, having won all their games, Metz are anchored at the bottom, the only team yet to take a point. This game is a perfect opportunity for PSG to rest players who have been busy on international duty, before the trip to Glasgow. Celtic’s scouts will be able to observe the shape of their forthcoming opponents, but the intensity of the game will not come close to what we see at Celtic Park.

Immediately before the international break, PSG beat Saint Etienne 3-0 in Paris. It is one measure of a good team to win comfortably even when not playing well. PSG achieved this against Le Verts, but there was encouragement for Brendan Rodgers in this game. This was also the only league game PSG have played against a team who have not lost at least half of their matches so far.

Without having to go through the trauma of Champions League qualifiers, the notion persists that PSG have yet to be asked questions this season. They may be able to revel in the joys of having signed two exciting new strikers, but great teams are made of durable cohesion, not striking bling.

can’t imagine how that could be done.

And it is going to get very very busy a lot more often.

  2. Has there been any reaction to the news that the EPL will close their transfer window before the start of the English season (early August) as opposed to end of August?

This could affect Celtic with regard to loan signings and actual transfers from/to EPL. We could no longer wait to see if we qualify for CL group stages before we sign or loan an EPL player (e.g. Paddy). The likes of Man City may not be willing to loan players to us as we would not have qualified for CL by end of window. Thoughts anyone?

  3. I think the CL package pitched at £114 was a bit over priced and said so at the time, could have been topped under the £100 and still been a price hike.

But the argument always gets confused in the debate about what anybody other than Celtic would / should charge?, and the PLC business that we are gets muddied with the ‘more than a club and the Celtic great charity debate.’

Ideally the unemployed should get in with the UB40 discount like the good ole days, but how long ago was that?

Either way I draw the line long before the massive rise of this season, but very agree with the point posters on CQN made about…………………………… £49.00 to see Sevco.

    How exactly does that work?

  4. Lol, they will! Find a negative for the board and PL, you just know they will, I’m picturing them on here and there are more than a few posting with a boak bucket deside them, they are more upset than thems on FF ffs :)), in fact I’m sure they love FF let’s not kid yourself, I said it almost 5 years ago that CFC had this under its wing, and the chit I took in here was amazing, I told them nearly every week arguing every week and got all sorts of abuse from ? Ach pointless naming them, as I said they just find another negative, it’s what they do, I’m thinking to while I’m at it, what are they going to talk about at the next CT meeting :)) he’ll slap it into them as well, .

Well done CFC and PL you hit that one right out the ball park you did good, this 2017 just keeps getting better An better, you have done brilliant PL many on here with egg on they’r faces, how sweet it is being a positive Tim ,n o looking back onwards and upwards.

Lurking Huns and CQN negativity mob? Well you know the rest, your hurting bad enough as it is.

ST holders having first dibs on a ticket is a given and rightly so, but the add on incentive of another pop at packages before the general sale should be scrapped.

  6. to my eternal shame i used the UB40 gate at celtic park when i was in my teens.

I am sure though it had some sort of daft rule that you had to be there half hour before the match.

I assume it to be fair based on previous years. Not what I would charge for such a massive income generating competition.

Personally I’d be valuing my customer base, not on how much they can pay but on their rebellious loyalty to the club. For SPFL Scottish footballs top clubs all charge too much for season books and match prices. But given the income generation of the CL a reward for that rebellious support should be advanced to season book holders and other supporters.

A true fair price is going to be different for every supporter. Some will just accept any price because they refuse to ever question a single Celtic policy (The Sigmoid Corner), while others each have a limit. I understand the club have to set their limit, or based on this year, greed, sonewhere. £38 and £30 is just greed greed greed.

There is no other word for it.

Anywhere between £20 and £30 is fair, preferably towards the lower end of that. Anything above £30 is just greed.

It seems the richer the club gets the more it needs to extract from fans.

Concessions should also be increased to cover the low waged and unemployed.

We could debate a fair price all evening and depending who the debate is between that price will be variable.

What an unbelievably inept statement. At least they are admitting that damage has been done!

But to try and cover up that damage, the causes of it and – most importantly – the people who ALLOWED it to happen?

The “strong Rangers” mob in that organisation need their arses kicked out of there all the way to the bus stop.

  9. Celtic should allocate a few hundred seats for the CQNrs to administer for distribution to the poor.

  10. oh, and ps ……………

our faithful old fellas , those over 67, should have season book set at £67, and their CL package at £67.

when we are cash rich, then share the rewards.

    thats what good companies do.

  11. Saint Stivs

Bayern Munich are charging season ticket holders 30 euro for the Celtic match in Allianz Arena. More than double that for non season book seats.

I agree with your general principle mate – that those less able should offered some kind of concession. St. Stiv’s has suggested a scheme that would accommodate that. However your last sentence is the most pertinent – the word “fair” is extremely subjective. It’s the kind of word politicians use – because it can means anything at all. It means different things to different people. Usually what this comes down to is supply and demand. If people feel £30 is OK they’ll pay it and if not then they won’t.

I also feel that those who turn up regularly should be rewarded by getting first dibs – after all these are the people who support the club week-in week-out. It just seems……fair? :-))

    Hunbelievable

  15. prestonpans bhoys on

BBC just announced that SFA say there is to be no review because it would damage Scootishfootball by taking over old coals…..or something like that

  16. its not old coals , its burning embers of the scottish football mansion, that burned to the ground due to cheating.

feck them, cmon celtic turn it up, and keep it lit,

  17. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

£114 for a three-match package is probably a bit on the high side, but it’s a 50% premium on ST match price for the SPFL.

Frankly, the CL package is better value. And costs roughly the same as a month wi Sky.

I know which I’d rather pay for.

However, there should be better-and wider-concession packages. Say £120 for the majority and £60 for more widely available concessions, which would be cash neutral.

Having said that, ticket income for these matches is a fraction of total income. You can reduce that fraction by a lot without overly affecting total income.

£100 and £50 instead would probably cost about £1m,not a lot when we expect to make upwards of £35m from the deal.

  18. In a utopian pricing scenario average earnings would be taken into consideration.

Just a thought talking about 67. Our light display is something to behold. So many smart phones on display. Many top of the range models with eager customers paying > £40 per month on contract or splashing out over £700 on a sim only contract.

    C’est the vie.

    HH.

  19. So the SFA have said no review, now its full out confrontation of this issue and it must go to Uefa in my opinion.

i found the price list from last year at bayern.

30 euros is behind goal at pitch level. most tickets are 70 euros but range 30 – 100. are you certain about the price you have?

I think we agree on pretty much everything you just said.

As it stands those who turn up and pay every week do get first dibs to be over charged.

Most will stretch to £38 as has been proven. I did this year, not stretch but decide to pay up as my bhoy Mohamed and moaned and moaned until I gave in at 3pm on Saturday. Last year I didn’t at lesser prices and watch on the vision box.

It was a close call this year. Higher again next year as I expect it will be if we qualify then I think I won’t no matter the pressure from my bhoy.

I just believe anything above £30 is ripping the pish!!!

  25. Well, we will soon see if the club have the balls or not.

The dynamics change when things become public, if they leaked the letter, I reckon they will carry it through, they really need to get uefa to have an input as well, get the finger oot Pedro.

This is nothing to do with the huns, tho they won’t see it that way, this is all about the sfa and the lack of honesty.

  26. BMCUW

Bayern Munich’s 3 game package for their season ticket holders is 90 euro. A bit cheaper than our’s. Non season ticket holders are asked to pay 200 euro for the 3 Allianz Arena CL games though.

  27. Did anyone else see Tommy Gorman’s ‘report’ on Harry Windsor’s visit to Ballymena I think Tommy actually creamed himself! I thought I was watching DUP tv and not the Irish state broadcaster RTÉ!

  28. Over to you now Celtic. I’m guessing today’s FTSFA announcement was the basis for the leak.

It seems the FTSFA don’t give a flying monkeys about Celtics position on this.

    How will club now react?

Any insight from res12ers would be welcome.

  29. Take it that lifestyle will be taken into account. No boozers or gamblers or smokers or SKY customers should be eligible for cheaper tickets to the games.

  30. QF

My German friend is a season ticket holder in Allianz Arena. His ticket for Celtic match is 30 euro. The tickets he has sourced for me are in 70 – 85 euro price range.
