Rangers in administration without tax case

1363

There are not words powerful enough to describe today’s news.  The English language is insufficient and I have no Greek or Latin.  Rangers Football Club have today asked the Court of Session to appoint an administrator, unable to service their creditors.  The freight train of their tax tribunal has yet to hit, these events relate exclusively to how the club has operated in other areas.

Scottish Premier League rules state that clubs are deducted 10 points on going into administration, which will give Celtic a 14 point lead at the top of the table once in effect.

This is a day we have predicted will come for over three years.  It has been inevitable for that long.  Now the really interesting events will happen.

We don’t need no stinkin’ Rangers.

Up the Celts!

  1. Keevins misses the key point –

Rangers will not be gone FOREVER. They will be back.

For however long they are gone Celtic fans will be back to watch our team in the mean time regardless of who we play.

“My re-cycled answer to your re-cycled post.

    **********

    1920′s / 1930′s not really my strongpoint.

Consequently thanks for the info on our record.

My basic point is that 5 years ago we were loking at a £5mill net spend.

Now we are looking at a zero net spend, that is player trading.

Finally we are looking to sell if we have a T/O glitch.

No Sion mentalist and we would have had to sell a player this season just to keep the boks balanced.

We are not in a good position and this is down in the main to the failings of one man.

    That man is PL.

If we are to grow, PL must go – simples. “

So still unwilling to be specific on a day, year, decade or century on when we became DU/Killie or Well?

You’ve been corrected by better posters than me on your twisted views on the Sion Mentalist. He is the Swiss (Romanian??) equivalent of David Murray. He was guilty of financial doping and playing illegal players. You still have deaf ears to that argument.

Your previous belief was that our selling (??) in the 20s resulted in failure in the 30s but it didn’t. We sold Macari, Hay and Dalglish and we entered a period of lesser success. We sold Nicholas and went on much as before. We sold Bobby Collins in ’58 and Pat Crerand in ’63 yet still built our best ever period of 66-74.

So, none of these actions were deterministic and other factors were more important.

BTW, I agree that PL, in common with most CEOs, is overpaid and I would shed few tears if another suit is brought in to replace him. But equally, on today, of all days, I find it hard to buy into the view that James McCarthy or Steven Fletcher or any other player with superpowers would have guaranteed any different outcome to any league title position.

  4. From the little I heard of whytes statement regarding cva on BBC Scotland it sounds like he’s setting the scene to say hmrc and old board prevented club going forward/lead to the demise.

  5. on clyde. they are going on about there being no title race. there was no title race when the hun were doing their 9 in a row.

didn’t hear the journos complain then.

  6. Heard Whyte on SSN… Either he has a plan so cunning even Baldrick couldn’t fathom it, or he’s taking complete leave of his senses and any grasp of reality.

Re Shugie on snyde. ‘no rankers no Celtic’ Ha… I’ve had a ST for years. I went on holiday last December in the knowledge I’d be missing the huns game. I hate being anywhere near them anyway. I also haven’t set foot in the BDome since the 80’s as it makes me sick but hats off to the bhoys who can. We don’t need them. Life is sh*t with them around. Going to the Park is a celebration of all our parts. Who could imagine not having Celtic in their life? Forever and ever CSC !!!!!! HH.

My account would be much healthier if I bet with Paddy Power, suppose I will just have to wait :>)

It will happen soon enough, what is it now, win 7 more games and it’s ours.

  9. Just finished listening to Sportsound and the message that I took from the programme,Alistair Johnstone,Pat Nevin and their business correspondent speaking from outside Ibrox was very clearly that they are likely to go into administration with the 10-point penalty, the European licence in doubt and a few more inconveniences such as assets being sold but there was no question of the club itself not being around.

With information such as this no wonder the bears are confused ( as well as bigotted etc ).No mention of morality, social justice, cheating, just plain old talk about the ‘ gers getting fixed up and put on the road again.

I don’t believe that this sort of talk emerges from an ignorance of the possibility of liquidation. It is part of a strategy ,well aired in this blog,to condition people to the view that life without Rangers would be unimaginable.Bad for Scottish football is the mantra and everyone is signed up to it.They even had a silly wee boy of a claimed Celtic fan expressing this view on the 6pm news.

So the show is on the road.Peter Lawwell,I feel, neatly stepped aside the issue of Rangers demise but sent a subliminal message to the Celtic support by his pause in answering the question about life without them.Well done Peter, stick with it.

Back to my nice Rioja and reflections on all the Celtic supporters who have passed on ( my folks included )and who would have taken great pleasure from today’s events.

    Rangers-scumbags,bigots,thugs and cheats.

  11. Very true oglach, my season ticket doesn’t even include games against the scum and it is that way for a reason……

  12. I think the radio pundits have seriously misjudged how little the Celtic support would miss the Ragers. Listening to the radio as they describe guys calling up as liars and bigots. Perhaps we should make a list of all the things we would miss if there were no huns: –

    1. ?

    2. Err….

  13. If the huns are being run by an administrator then they’re not going to be able to mount an effective challenge to us.

    They’d struggle for second place.

Leaving aside the misery of 1958-65, it took a radical change of direction at the top to usher in 1966-74.

  18. RalphWaldoEllison-is Neil Lennon Season 2011-12 on

Keevins and Speirs both equate a Celtic season ticket holder’s suggestion that he wouldn’t want to miss a game at CP versus Rangers as really meaning that he only buys the season ticket for the Rangers game at CP. AND that if that game was not on the calendar, then the same Celtic season ticket holder would not buy his season ticket. Ergo Celtic need Rangers, and the journos are correct, which means that we are all in denial and are at best mendacious.

They say this despite the evidence of the fan’s own answers to the contrary.

How far will these alleged journalists go to vindicate their own blinkered assertions?

Keevins actually told the Celtic season ticket holder that he was not being honest.

Someone should be reminding HUGh that he is actually speaking live on live radio, like live, right at that moment, live…now…

Oh God help us all. I used to thiink Speirs was intelligent, now he’s become a cross between Keevins and Traynor.

    Speirs is Keevins/Traynor’s love child.

  22. I’d prefer to see an SPL with the huns in it.

A huns that hadn’t cheated for a decade and been liquidated as a result.

    Unfortunately that option isn’t available.

The choice is between an SPL without the huns or a corrupt SPL where the rules are bent to allow a newco immediate entry. And the rules would continue to be bent to ensure the newco huns can stay in the top six and present an effective challenge.

  23. Re Snyde -have they not listened to Neil have they not heard the sage advice of PL? WE DO NOT NEED RANGERS – Repeat WE DO NOT NEED RANGERS end of story.

  25. Boa noite !!!!

Did somebody start Carnival early and forget to tell us down here in Rio????

Anyway, the wee boy Edinho Junior.

Dinna get your hopes up about us signing the next Neymar. The boy comes from the Portugese equivalent of Ayr United and his old man (who manages one of the local clubs there) boosts Dunfermline amongst his former clubs. The apple rarely falls far from the tree and I´d not be surprised to see this as another one of those “Paying the Lennoxtown bills” type signing.

As always, hope I´m wrong !!

  26. At the weekend it was stated in some of the Sundays that Whyte’s role as preferred creditor could mean that he can transfer the assets to himself. However, can the player contracts be transferred. I’ve worked in places where outsourcing has come in and the employees had to agree to the new terms and conditions with the new co by signing a new contract. They were not automatically transferred.

There was also the case a few years back when Dortmund could not sell Rosicky to Arsenal because they had sold his contract to another company (when they were deep in the mire). Uner UK law, he could therefore not be sold to Arsenal as he was not “owned” by the club (similar case with Kewel) as it breaches employment law. Dortmund had to resolve Rosiky’s contract before the sale to Arsenal could go through.
