Rangers in administration without tax case

1363

There are not words powerful enough to describe today’s news.  The English language is insufficient and I have no Greek or Latin.  Rangers Football Club have today asked the Court of Session to appoint an administrator, unable to service their creditors.  The freight train of their tax tribunal has yet to hit, these events relate exclusively to how the club has operated in other areas.

Scottish Premier League rules state that clubs are deducted 10 points on going into administration, which will give Celtic a 14 point lead at the top of the table once in effect.

This is a day we have predicted will come for over three years.  It has been inevitable for that long.  Now the really interesting events will happen.

We don’t need no stinkin’ Rangers.

Up the Celts!

  1. the long wait is over on

I’m not very good at understanding these things but does all this mean that the Supercasino is now on hold..?

  2. Well, that was an unproductive afternoon at work.

Good times, my brothers and sisters in Celtic. Good times.

  3. if the MSM want to try and convince Celtic supporters that Football in Scotland and for Celtic would be poorer without Rangers, they really should do 3 things

    1. Start from a point of acknowledging that Rangers have been a blight on Scottish football finances, since the day and minute Murray bought Rangers

    2. Accept that a severe penalty is due for the cheating and tax evasion , criminal tax evasion. That penalty would appropriately be starting life in Div 3. We can absolutely survive for 3 years without Rangers in the SPL

    3. Find a better spokesman than Hugh Keevins……..All he does is insult anyone who disagrees with him. Thats not usually a successful method of getting people on board with your point of view

I seem to remember when you started talking about thems DEMISE,So long ago now,You got pelters off many of their websites talking about Timmy conspiracy and timmy fantasy, i suppose your inbox will be full of apologies from them. :)))))))

  5. I genuinely hate playing against them, great when we beat them but don’t like how I feel overall. I would be happy if they were punished to the letter of the law, start in the 3rd division.

    They might learn some humility.

  6. Welcome, ourselves alone… I graduated “summa cum laude” from “the maggies” back in the mid sixties. How are things at the old alma mater these days.

    Long time coming, eh!

Div 3 beckons and this is their best option at the moment, Lawwell puts our cards on the table, clear for all to see, although not clear enough for HK it seems.

Still not clear to me, who will step forward (given the toxic brand) and there will be a huge amount to plough into them………. To get them started!

You would be forgiven to think that SDM and MBB have driven Dignity so far to the wall, that there are in a place of no return.

Ground share with St. Mirren, me thinks!

  8. amazing stuff today !!

not really sure what’s the state of play TBH , but enjoying the pain of the media types

    F5 key buggered though

    no to newco from me

  9. Clyde is all about how Celtic and Rangers need each other. Quelle surprise!

Are Keevins and Spiers really so out of touch with Celtic supporters or just plain at it?

Agree 100%. Murray’s ‘We will simply buy the league every season’ led to the payment of salaries to a slightly better class of mediocrity that completely knackered of the wages structure in Scottish football.

  11. JimmyQuinnsBits on

    It’s really really simple,

no need for a long debate

a newco enters the third division

Scottish football would take a bit of a hit, unquantifiable, in the short term… but thats the price we all must pay for the integrity of the game. Any other option makes a mockery of the game and I, for one, will give it up.

Any tim who thinks we need them, get aff ma bus

  12. I listened to the BBC Radio Scotland sports programme, not a peep about the UK Taxpayer getting stiffed so that Murray could flaunt some multi millionaire mercenaries at the bigotdome and fuel the Protestant supremacist myth.

Celtic without Rangers, sign me up please, I can’t enjoy the fixture anyway, so disgusted by the sectarian blood flowing through that club’s veins and I can’t bear to watch them express their rancid plastic loyalism.

Hope the club goes the way of the dinosaurs, it’s how evolution should work!

pleaaaaaaase can we have some ff quotes,Thank you in advance for your courage.

The SPL don’t need the huns in the SPL.

We don’t need the huns in the SPL.

It’s the Scootish football writers who need the huns in the SPL.

  15. Rangers Bought and cheated for 9iar

    1989 won by 6 points

    1990 won by 7 points

    1991 won by 2 points

    1992 won by 9 points

    1993 won by 9 points

    1994 won by 4 points

    1995 won by 15 points

    1996 won by 4 points

    1997 won by 5 points

    a competitive league indeed

    During that time

    Celtic finished

    3rd 10 points behind

    5th 17 points behind

    3rd 14 points behind

    3rd 10 points behind

    3rd 13 points behind

    4th 8 points behind

4th 18 points behind (remember this was the first season of 3 points for a win)

    2nd 4 points behind

    2nd 5 points behind

Now remember Rangers once winning some of these titles started losing points and matches through complacency.

Where were all the lies about a title race and the big drum for a competitive league? It was nowhere to be seen. They had 3 competitive title races out of 9. What a difference from today eh?

    Lies lies and more lies.

    Ignore them.

Let them die and rejoice in it.

  16. Celtic would have been in English (British?) league before now except for the peculiar prority creditor arrangements allowed to football clubs.

Players & other clubs owed money by a ‘delinquent’ club have first call on the assests, before for example, HMRC

This has prevented a domino effect of clubs entering into admin. What funds are available are kept within the football environment. If HMRC had priority the infection would have spread through the series of financial transaction of monies owed and/or due.

On the one hand this is welcome as, in principle, few want to see famous or community clubs disappear, but the protection was not intended for the delinquent or criminal. The law of unintended consequence…

It’s honourable motive (non football people would not agree with that) has a corrupting influence on the prudent running of the business element of clubs. The investors/owners can secure their personal investment or what they decide is THEIR personal investment with no regard to creditors stakeholders or HMRC subject to legal restrictions.

Had HMRC had first call the crisis in England, particularly the Championsip (as it included those taking big risks to gain the Premiership and those having to honour Premiership contracts following relegation) would have been devestating.

    Celtic would have been waiting.

  17. bournesouprecipe on

Just watched the full Ragers TV interview and Craig Whyte clearly knew they’d be in Admin when he paid his £1.00, he more or less admits it, and with his record of insolvent companies this is a historic day.

  18. A great day and one I’ve waited for since 2002, and increasingly from 2008.

The three people whom congratulations are due are:

    1) Neil Lennon for turning Celtic around (keeping the team grounded despite gaining so many consecutive wins) and denying Rangers the possibility of gambling money with the potential of Champions League income next season. This moment might have arrived anytime in the past 4 seasons with better management, still, today is a joyous day. Congratulations Neil!!!!

    2) Craig Whyte for having enough balls to go into a no-win situation (well, a win-win as far as I’m concerned) with no money and little prospect of being anything other than a pariah. Just a few more weeks Craig, you can do it mate, you’re nearly there. ;-D

    3) Lastly and most importantly, the man who takes a profitable company with a sound business plan, and turns it into a massive loss maker. Alarm bells should have been ringing when £32 million rang up in the loss category, they didn’t, today is the result. The man doesn’t even need to be named. What a guy!

Challenging times indeed for the club. Have spoken to Craig Whyte tonight and understand the process they intend to follow. In meantime
