    Romantic? Heart stirring…. Yes.

    Still true? Yes.

    Tim’s are consumers of history.

Yet we are still in chains.

The SSM and the PLC know this and exploit it, while trying to control it.

    It’s an outrageous shame.

    What a drench morning.

Did not attend or watch the game but gutted to find out the result this morning. Therefore, I have no right to comment on the actual game.

Perhaps, a whole scale review of the Football Department by some of our heroes and ex managers might be a way forward.

Sorry if this has been previously posted- too upset/disappointed to scroll back. HH

  3. Morning all. That was a short night. Still feel that hardly anyone stepped up to defend the history of our club yesterday. Will be interesting to see if Ronny survives the day.

Like you I did not watch or listen to the game as I did not want to validate fraud and corruption.not a huge surprise to me we lost another semi final the management need to go but Dd will need to do this

  5. the glorious balance sheet on

We are a house divided this morning.

Arguments will rage about who is to blame and it’s clear that Ronny is on the way out.

The truth is that if you set aside the outlier year of 2012/13 then Celtic have been on a generally downward trajectory since 2008, a period that spans many different managerial tenures at the club.

In that time we have lost two cup semi finals to Ross county, lost another to Inverness, others to st mirren and hearts, and been beaten in a cup final by Kilmarnock. And now yesterday’s loss to lower league opposition.

In Europe we have suffered our record home and away defeats during the last few years (Milan 0-3 and Barcelona 1-6). We have been comfortably beaten by the likes Sion, Malmo, molde and Maribor, and completely thrashed over 2 games by Legia Warsaw, not to mention the near miss of shakhtar Karagandy.

It’s a long term malaise. The team of 2008 could call upon the – albeit inconsistent – creative talents of samaras, Mcgeady and nakamura. We are now reliant on a wee boy borrowed from man city and the 18 year old Kieran Tierney to create any worthwhile openings against SPFL dross. Those two apart, the team is bereft of creativity even at domestic level.

Everything has been in our favour since 2008. The Huns financial implosion. A base of 55000 season ticket holders. Comparatively easy access to European football and the money therein.

And we have contrived to make a total arse of it.

The dug-out is only part of the problem here.

The morning after the night before brings clarity. If Celtic do not immediately announce wholesale changes at the club then I believe that the fans must make that happen. An organised and public boycott of Season ticket purchases. Lets put the the fear of hell up them.

I know its a club cliche, but Deila, Lawwell must leave the club.

  7. We took away their hope and gave them back their belief.

Could turn out to be a most expensive generosity on our part.

  8. SydneyTim says sack Lawell now on

Peat. I don’t think there will be any need for an organised boycott as he drop in season tickets will be huge

  9. Big Peat of Islay on

    Sydney

I don’t know. There may be some initial stonewalling but most existing season ticket holders will cough up in fear of losing their seat. The thing that is needed is leadership on this one, somewhere the fans can look to for direction and solidarity.

Things really are dire. Should any idiot attempt to defend this regime by pointing out the league is ours, they should remind themselves that anybody, and I mean anybody off the street, could take that job and not f### it up, given our huge resources compared to others.

  10. On a personal note something has to change and be seen to start to change for me if RD/ JC are in dug out on Sunday we will well and truly know the board don’t give a flying f**k about the wellbeing of our club and our wider Celtic community

TBB’s right in a post a couple of months -the bunny both saved us and condemned us with the plc

  16. SydneyTim says sack Lawell now on

Peat. I have always said paul67 should lead the way. But for some reason PL has a hold over him

No true celtic fan can defend Peter Lawell now

  17. Good morning from a sunny but cool East Devon. Now that the dust has settled I must say I took the dog for a walk at halftime, couldn’t believe what I’d just watched, missed Eric’s goal and wasn’t at all confident about penalty lottery. Not said it before but GTF Ronny , Lawell and the board, you’ve let us down big style.

  18. Don’t worry about Peter Lawell not giving a flying fig. He will have been strategising since the final whistle yesterday.

How does he sell enough season tickets on the back of this result? Selling our best (only) asset KT would be one sale too many.

He will need to do something though, so unfortunately for Deila, fortunately for everyone else, he’ll be gone.

You would assume if RD goes, JC follows. Another plus.

Will PL fall on his own sword? Not a hope in hell. He will appoint another manager unproven at this level, or WGS or Lenny. That might be good news for Broony, because its only one of those two who will keep him. Bring in a Mick McCarthy, Nigel Pearson, David Moyes type, and Broony and a whole number of others are gone and with a squad of limited transfer appeal, the funds will not be created to allow a clear out.

It’s an absolute shambles which has been fashioned by Lawell, yet his job is probably the safest at CP, for the simple reason that his boss, has clearly given up on assembling a club that remotely resembles the Seville side of 2003.

Come on DD, surprise us all by clearing out the lot of them, give us a proven manager, give him a workable budget, and watch the season books sell out in weeks.

  19. Football financial landscape has changed immeasurably since 2003.

Top class players cost way too much for us.

Top class players don’t want to come to play here.

Champions league football is about to slam it’s door on Scottish football.

The financial crisis of 2008 is essentially still here, people are dropping their season tickets/golf club/gym memberships by the shed load.

This is where we are at.

    RD is going nowhere.

    PL is going nowhere.

It’s buisiness as usual at Celtic.

    And that’s that.

  20. Big Peat of Islay on

http://www.celticfc.net/news/10356 From the official website match report… The Ibrox outfit remained largely on top in terms of possession, with Celtic playing on the break as their city rivals committed men forward.

Read that, then read it again, then again, then again.

  21. ....PFayr ..SACK THE BOARD on

Delian must go camp has swelled after yesterday

Some new members were previously members of Ronnie is a visionary

Since Deila’s performance in the away tie against Legia I’ve firmly been of the view that he was out of his depth and hopeless

However I was abused by many on here …as we got knocked out of cup after cup and were embarrassed in Europe

Yesterday’s result was dreadful …the performance poor , perhaps we were a bit unlucky

Why yesterday is a turning point for some I don’t know

Deila has been consistent ….consistently poor

Yesterday was more of the same

Last months visionary is now a dud …….Jesus wept

  22. (Good?) Morning CQN’ers, from a long time absent friend.

Generally, in the aftermath of a match against our bitter rivals, whereby we’ve been out played, out battled, out fought, and ultimately knocked out, for anyone to contemplate the idea of it being a ‘good’ morning would be hung drawn and quartered.

Following Celtic always has been, and will continue to be, a long and tiresome journey. Days like today are the days where we’d normally feel as low as you possibly could as a follower of our club.

However could it be that ‘every cloud’?

In truth the vast majority of us have been in agreement that RD and his staff (players included), should’ve been giving their marching orders a long time ago, but now surely is the time? As per usual, it’s taken an unthinkable situation to effectively force PL and DD to take action, immediately.

Yesterday was not even about a cup tie, yesterday was about setting a marker for next season. Yes, we all know that our current team is of a very poor quality (KT and LG exceptions for me), however we fully expected to be sitting pretty at 2pm yesterday afternoon saying “we’re not good, but you’s are a million miles behind us, come ahead next season”.

Instead, where have we now put ourselves mentally?

It will take a long time to come back from this. It will take a long time to get over the hurt and the disappointment. The board (DD specifically) has to help us along the way, and he has to start TODAY with the exit of Deila, Collins,m and Kennedy.

If DD wants to really show his commitment further still, to us, then Lawell and 80% of the team should follow them out the door.

  23. psih day today had to say to the zombies they deserved to win, said to my fellow tims Browns performance was the worst I have ever seen from a Celtic captain cost the first goal with a poor touch, and never closed down for the 2nd goal. To be truthful we should not be surprised by the performance yesterday it has been the same all season. I have heard the players rejected the fitness regime in their own monster munch revolt, you are never sure about rumours however when you see them outrun like yesterday I think there might be some truth in that ,I’d get rid of most of them a squad that will hit over 40 players once all our loans come back is mind boggling,

Do not agree with any of the names being touted above for the mangers job except Lambert, but it might be a struggle to get him,

I fear for our club in the near future the next manager has to be the right one.

  24. At various times yesterday I thought “this is torture” as we were being outplayed at times. Given our vastly superior resources with income from Forster van Dyke and Wanyama etc premier division income etc against a team that didn`t exist 4/5 years ago and now in debt how could this happen? A miraculous goalkeeper? refereeing decisions? No we`re just not good enough and something has to change.

  25. The reason the financial landscape has changed so much (for us) since 2003 is of our own making. We were NOT in a massive debt situation when we brought in quality. The quality we had generated our largest income ever in one season. Best part of £78m from memory.

The strategy since then has been disastrous. Every good player we have found has been flogged and, in most cases, replaced by mediocrity. That mediocrity has seen us drop further down the European rankings, seen revenues falling, crowds diminishing and abject performances, week in week out. How many memorable games this season? Last season?

The memorable ones have been defeats in cup competitions v lesser opponents, and the icing on the cake was yesterday.

THAT strategy is why we cant attract top class players anymore. If we were still in the CL group stages, we would attract better players and reverse this whole downward spiral.

Lawell however has decided on a “what we have we hold” strategy. He is killing our club. The constant whining about the SPL is a red herring. The shite league that is the SPL should be a passport to the CL year in year out. Sickening to think that on yesterdays evidence, a new team has put together a bunch of journeymen to challenge us for next years title.

Regardless of what diversion tactic P67 will employ today, it’s Lawell that is leading us to oblivion.

  26. theglasgowcelticway on

I expected to win the double this season with the board telling us 4 out of 6 trophies isn’t bad and continuing with the RD experiment. That has now been blown apart. The best thing they could do is announce he is leaving in the summer by mutual consent getting the fans behind him for the final few weeks of the season.

  27. Sick in the heart this morning but that is the price you pay if you make a huge emotional investment in a Football Club. I understand the pain and anger in fellow supporters posts albeit some of them are rash & over the top.

I don’t believe that Sevco are better equipped then us to win next years League. In League Terms yesterday was a one all draw with us missing a glaring goal, a bad result if it was next years League but not a disaster.

Ronny has had plenty of chances and there have been too many failures, his time with us is definitely up.

However I believe the change should be made at end of season, There are 5 games left, we need to regroup and at least win the League. A League win will not save this season which will go down in our History as a most disappointing one but at the same time it is absolutely essential that we do win it.

Once season is over Ronny either resigns or is sacked, we get a new man in and we look forward to the European Qualifiers.

  28. mullet and co 2 on

The time to announce the departure of Deila was January and in the summer before that or the January before that not now with 4 games to play. If you sack him now who takes over?
