Let’s be clear, you cannot punish a player on the basis that he has made a comment which is only offensive, offence is subjective, highly so in Scottish football, where thousands await the opportunity.
Nor can you punish a player for a derogatory remark which may offend, especially if the remark does not call into question the probity of the subject. “Hearts are rotten, we beat them easily twice this season”, is a derogatory remark and will offend some Hearts fans, but it also falls into the category of being a fair opinion.
And without pointing out the obvious, you cannot offend the dead. John Guidetti and the club are right to contest this ridiculous charge, which by context, clearly refers to a team no longer with us.
I was absolutely astonished to read that newco (and former oldco) director, Paul Murray, explained Dave King’s absence from newco’s recent share as he is waiting until the SFA “have completed their review of Dave’s status before he can fully participate in the future of the Club”.
The SFA have no issue whatsoever in Dave King investing heavily in newco, or in owning all shares. Indeed, King is already the largest shareholder, which has attracted no attention from the football authorities.
The prospect of King sloping off if the SFA judge him not Fit and Proper (which I think they will), is a fabulous twist in the work of this legendary non-executive director of a dead club. He sat on the oldco board which paid EBTs for so many years, he stayed while they made no provision for the HMRC tax case, plunging into the transfer market instead. Now he awaits the whim of the SFA before deciding to invest, having led newco away from their primary source of funding.
What a star.

the exiled tim
On that we are in complete agreement.
The target has to be the SFA so the fact that they are drawing us into a fight is no bad thing in my view.
We have a few surprises ready and this gives us the opportunity.

His dad died when he was a baby. His stepdad took him to Ibrox and was a wrong wan. My two sons and I are working on John the Tim’s conversion. ;))

Perhaps explains why he needed a history tutor!
Night Timdom and of course any lurking Hunny Bunnies. The former should sleep. The latter cannot, cos they’re zombies!

I think Zbyszek managed to inject both humour and a relaxed state into questioning your conflation of “East Poland and hates Scots” character. Coming hot on the heels of you referring to Kiev v Zenit as a Russian Derby, I can only see a charge of “bizarre posting” as applying to your own.
Taking the one upmanship approach of telling your critic to relax is pretty unconvincing. If you make a point you should be prepared to defend it or clarify it. Telling those that find your posts, let’s be generous and call them, puzzling at times, to relax, is a pretty unconvincing approach.
I think you need to be more forthright and clear in your statements. A few recently have been very muddy indeed. What is it you stand for, as opposed to what you stand against?
Jude,
If it is decent single malt
Pour the malt, give the Drambuie away.

Worked with a Belfast ‘Protestant’. Liked Celtic. Because of football.

My supporters bus from Knightswood in the 70s was 50/50 Catholic/Protestant.
We were all Celtic supporters. No difference.

Wouldn’t waste a Malt on it, always ice in first, use a blend- order not important if give a wee stir, enjoy your rusty nail.
Delaney,
The Celtic support has grown a lot in non traditional Celtic households. Especially up north. Martin O’Neill’s success helped a lot.
