Regan on SFA acting without fear

944

“The Scottish FA has a responsibility to all its members and must implement its rules without fear or favour”.  Stewart Regan, SFA chief executive, 24 April 2012.

What chance the SFA will be able to act without fear now?  I don’t imply they will act without favour, but do you believe SFA panellists can act without fear?  Anyone who participates in Rangers appeal process and upholds their punishment will act despite fear.

This process, one of the most important the SFA has dealt with in years, has been subverted, and that calls for a far greater sanction that any already imposed.

You answered your own question at the start there.

If you’re not comfortable with Irish colours then you are supporting the wrong club.

If the RFFF are so anti- SFA now then perhaps Andrew McCormick, the Chairman, will remove himself from the list of Licensed SFA agents.

”This losing of the plot by both McCoist and Jardine would seem to indicate their level of desperation. They are like rats trapped in a corner with no escape. It seems to suggest that the end is imminent.”

It’s possible of course that they’ve had advanced notice of the FTT tribunal decision and know that the end is nigh.

With the tribunal having been held in private (and the question regarding that is: why?) any judgement that’s published will have to be anonymised.

The judge may have issued a draft judgement to the parties to ensure that they are satisfied with the proposed level of anonymisation prior to publication.

    Published on Thursday 26 April 2012 17:10

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has issued the following statement regarding the Scottish Football Association judicial panel which punished the club earlier this week.

“I would like to make quite clear my position in relation to the decision by the SFA’s judicial panel which earlier this week imposed sanctions against Rangers which have far reaching consequences for our club and Scottish football.

“I firmly believe that decisions of this magnitude should be fully transparent and everyone should have confidence in the system that has been created to deliver such a finding.

“When I called for full transparency on Tuesday I took the view that the decision by the judicial panel should be subject to proper scrutiny. It is unthinkable in any walk of life that such a significant punishment would be meted out without full transparency.

“I fully understand that there are difficult decisions to be taken in football and they will never suit everyone but in this day and age clarity and transparency are surely of paramount importance.

“That said, I would not for one moment want anyone to interpret my remarks as a signal to engage in any form of threatening behaviour. Such activity disgusts me and anyone who engages in it does Rangers Football Club nothing but harm. No Rangers supporter should get themselves involved in it – not now nor at any time.

“Our focus has got to be firmly on ensuring that the club’s case in appealing the sanctions imposed on us is put forward robustly and in the appropriate manner.

“Rangers Football Club was a victim of what happened during the tenure of Craig Whyte. The club was not an accomplice, a co-conspirator nor a perpetrator of wrongdoing. We suffered from it and still are. I hope that our appeal can be dealt with by the SFA as quickly as possible as the situation for the club and the possible ramifications for Scottish football are very serious.”

Thinking the tricolour top is a bad idea because you don’t like the design is perfectly acceptable but saying it panders to the lowest common denominator in our support or questioning why Irish colours would even be considered is symptomatic of a newly emerged breed of Celtic fan who, although small in number, exist and would prefer us to water down the ‘Irish stuff’ as much as possible in order to pander to the lowest common denominator in the rest of the country and the mainstream media.

Not going to happen. Be proud of what your club is and their heritage.

I certainly hope so. While I’m enjoying the death by a thousand cuts scenario, I’m beginning to look for closure on this whole sorry but very enjoyable mess.

I’m fairly sure that RFC asked for the case to be heard in private as they didn’t want their business to be reported daily by the media (I know). Perhaps something may have got out that would have alerted a million Celtic supporters to start campaigning that a torch should be shone on other matters at RFC.

I think anonymity will be absolutely necessary for the panel of 3 judges who deliberated on this matter but I can’t help thinking that their names were published at the time of the FTT.

  20. What a delicious irony (providing that the panel members remain unharmed) that McCoist has possibly hastened the downfall of his beloved Peepil, by his sheer

stupidity and ignorance. A rudderless shameful excuse for a Football Club brought to it’s knees by cheating, masquerading from liquidation, and now potentially mortally wounded by incitement to cause violence and harm, from their very own master.

A despicable cheat of a player, who demonstrated a masterclass in simulation before the word was even used in football terms.

    A fitting epitaph.

  21. Shieldmuir Celtic on

One of their many problems is, that 100 years of privilege does not prepare them for punishments and sanctions. After all ‘They are the peepil.’ Ally’s moral protestations came too late. His disgusting supporters were already on the job of threatening and abusing the panel – as he must have known they would. I wonder when his S.F.A. Disciplinare Hearing will be and if he will announce the names of the panel.

  22. RalphWaldoEllison-is Neil Lennon Season 2011-12 on

And the RFCIA party line is passed down to their orcs.

Ally did nothing wrong, it was dignified defence of the proud club.

Sandy did nothing wrong, he merely threatened other clubs with retribution.

Paul Murray and anyone connected with TBK are blameless especially if they were on the board at RFCIA.

No one who was on an EBT for the last 12 years knew anything was wrong.

Campell Ogilvie is innocent of any wrongdoing.

    John McClelland is innocent.

David Murray is totally blameless and was himself duped.

Craig Whyte is entirely to blame for all sins associated with the club.

Collyer and Bristow are equally to blame for helping CW.

Glad we are all in the picture now.

  23. There are unquestionably strong ties between Celtic and Ireland, but one shouldn’t be a condition of the other.

In any case, no way would that colour orange (sorry – gold!) flatter my complexion.
