Tomorrow is match day 5 of a 38 game Scottish Premiership league programme, and although there’s a possibility we may find ourselves five points adrift, the result from Tannadice will have absolutely no bearing on our season.
Celtic must weigh up the needs of squad fitness for the next four days, concluding with the visit to Malmo on Tuesday. We have some precious limbs attached to Virgil, Scott, Stefan (J) and most of all, Sugar Ray Griffiths. I strongly recommend all are rested tomorrow. The consequences of any of these players being injured for Tuesday is not worth contemplating.
It was considerably reassuring that Qarabag, who Celtic eliminated in the last round of the Champions League, won away at Young Boys of Berne last night. Any team winning in Switzerland have earned respect.
It was just as reassuring that Malmo’s last round opponents, Salzburg, went down 2-0 to Dinamo in Minsk. It’s difficult to determine comparative strengths this early in the season, but some people may have overestimated Salzburg and underestimated Qarabag,
We’ll find out on Tuesday.
Well done to all concerned with the Jock Stein Charity Match, which takes place on Sunday, 6 September, at East End Park, Dunfermline, in aid of Celtic Foundation and Pars’ Foundation. Alan Stubbs, who will be wearing the hoops one more time, said, “The thing about Celtic is that it’s a fantastic club, both when you’re there and when you’re not, and that’s a testament to the fans”.
Best of luck for the season, Alan.
British Champion boxer and Celtic fan, Scotty Cardle, is also playing, as is X-Men star, James McAvoy. Details here.

There’s a flare/flair or two there.
Still haven’t changed my view, we should play our strongest team tomorrow, get the 3pts, build up the confidence and Tues. will take care of itself, we don’t have the depth of a quality squad to mess about with team selection.
Please stop telling players that they are tired and need a rest
All we need now is a poor result tomorrow and the team losing even more confidence especially at the back, a clean sheet tomorrow would be welcome.

You say Paul 67 is paying £250 per month for the server.
Has a subscription to CQN been considered to help cover the costs ?

The ‘going the wrong way’ Rangers goalkeeper was Billy Ritchie. He played in one Scotland International for 45 minutes, and was referred to as ‘half cap Ritchie’

Tomorrow won’t make or break our season -Tuesday will!
We need those who will play on Tuesday to be 100% fit and prepared to play for perhaps 2 hours if need be. Bearing that in mind RD should rest as many as he thinks need it.
On Tuesday he needs to pick guys who are fully fit -we cannot afford passengers. I would think about playing CM as SBs partner in front of the back four as Bitton is too easily beaten in the physical challenge. It remains the case that we don’t have one real holding player on the books.
Should we qualify for the CL then we need to recruit one or face the prospect of being turned over several times!

Moantaefek big mhan!
These ghuys play almost 12 months in the year. Carrying near constant injuries. That’s why we have a squad.
Case study for you. Bitton. Vital to us in a £20m game next Tuesday but was barely able to finish on Wednesday night.
Can we ‘rest him’? Please?
Case study 2. Broonie. See how bad we were this time last year when he wasn’t there? Felt a twinge after Baku. If we go 2 up tomorrow could we spell him?
Case study 3. The Thumb. Top scorer of late. Leapt like a salmon on Wednesday and was great. But came off after a knock. Did likewise very early on against Ross County. He’s pretty precious and a wee smidgen vulnerable right now – no?
It’s not a weakened team. It’s a refreshed team!
Anyways, no one on here can agree on the strongest 11 anyway!!!!!

If that’s the case……..’There’s nothing in the jar ohhhhhhhh’
If the extent of our ambition is ex or current Dundee Utd players then we have a problem with our recruitment strategy. This team will only go backwards recruiting players of this calibre and we could suffer the consequences when the Hun return. These guys are not winners and I don’t believe they have the mentality to Be Celtic players.
