Rest precious limbs at Tannadice

608

Tomorrow is match day 5 of a 38 game Scottish Premiership league programme, and although there’s a possibility we may find ourselves five points adrift, the result from Tannadice will have absolutely no bearing on our season.

Celtic must weigh up the needs of squad fitness for the next four days, concluding with the visit to Malmo on Tuesday. We have some precious limbs attached to Virgil, Scott, Stefan (J) and most of all, Sugar Ray Griffiths. I strongly recommend all are rested tomorrow. The consequences of any of these players being injured for Tuesday is not worth contemplating.

It was considerably reassuring that Qarabag, who Celtic eliminated in the last round of the Champions League, won away at Young Boys of Berne last night. Any team winning in Switzerland have earned respect.

It was just as reassuring that Malmo’s last round opponents, Salzburg, went down 2-0 to Dinamo in Minsk. It’s difficult to determine comparative strengths this early in the season, but some people may have overestimated Salzburg and underestimated Qarabag,

We’ll find out on Tuesday.

Well done to all concerned with the Jock Stein Charity Match, which takes place on Sunday, 6 September, at East End Park, Dunfermline, in aid of Celtic Foundation and Pars’ Foundation. Alan Stubbs, who will be wearing the hoops one more time, said, “The thing about Celtic is that it’s a fantastic club, both when you’re there and when you’re not, and that’s a testament to the fans”.

Best of luck for the season, Alan.

British Champion boxer and Celtic fan, Scotty Cardle, is also playing, as is X-Men star, James McAvoy. Details here.

  1. Nothing slow about Big Jan’s hands. Great riff.

And no amount of yodelling, whistling or gibberish can disguise it

    Focus. Hocus Pocus.

  2. Noticed some chat about the ads on the site. Thought I’d give you some insight?

Are you reading on a tablet or maybe a mobile phone?

Until the new site was launched the total advertising revenue achieved by CQN over 12 years from what is now over 70per cent of the entire audience is £0.00.

The new site has increased the audience by over 200per cent and the majority of people using CQN are now reading the news and other features rather than the blog.

The cost of the new servers – which are paid by Paul has recently risen to £250 per month. Not long ago it was under £100.

To get CQN running as fast and effective as we would like means at least doubling this. Maybe more.

The new found advertising revenue comes from the same source as the MSM rely on and if CQN takes a slice them there is less for them to fund their anti-Celtic agenda.

The success of the CQN books – where around 85per cent are sold outwith CQN – has funded the new site – for good or bad.

We have worked on the ads and have specific, non intrusive mobile ads coming – it is going to take a few weeks to arrange and implement but we are on it.

CQN had over 40,000 people on the site on Tuesday and the servers couldn’t cope. This was caused by the Denayer story which the MSM had no knowledge on and still don’t.

When we broke the Scott Allan story we were 100pc sure if the facts and well aware that the MSM knew hey haw.

We now have a professional site and one that can take the revenue that previous the MSM made from your devotion to Celtic. Go on News Now and look at HITC – see how they make money from you.

Earlier this year we took our point of view from the blog and put it in the Sunday Herald. Look at The impact!

So when you see that ad on the site maybe have a wee think about all of this. On Wednesday night we were in Tescos Parkhead blogging their wifi to get the match report up before the MSM. It worked too.

Looking forward to a wee trip to Dundee in morning. Leaving at 9.15am!

    Just seen this one

MACCAB I TEL AVIV are preparing to launch a £1.5million bid for Celtic’s struggling striker Stefan Scepovic.

    He’s not ‘struggling’ – he’s ‘box fresh’!

We will dominate them, of that there is no doubt.

Whether we get through or get caught in a defensive slip up is in the lap of God.

    ——-

So we’re now down to lap & God singular rather than plural.

More pesky downsizing. I blame PL, Ede, Izzie and Jimmy White who failed to pick a winner on Wed night.

Tuesday night might make us but it certainly won’t break us. Ronny and his Celtic team are either ready to make their own piece of Celtic history or they are not. Malmo will only stop us if we let them. Belief, concentration and application. Controlled , intelligent football without fear.

We are the better team and we have a one goal lead.

  7. WC, I never have any issues with adverts on my iPad, not that I want them. The only adverts I get are at the side of the article. HH

  8. We overload the box when we have corner/ free kick and then we get caught short, you would think we would learn

those that fail are those that keep doing the sane thing even when its not working, take the game to opposition by all means

but in open play we should always have at least 4 players behind the ball same should apply when attacking set plays

jimtim and gg – i hope that rd and the players have it in them to get the regular failings sorted, to be frank the mistakes are easily remedied with good instructions and player discipline

Respectfully playing devils advocate since you posted it twice.

Malmo is a lot more daunting than Pitoddrie ( see Aberdeen’s recent Euro flop) or Tynecastle, where Celtic can go and win with metronome regularity, because they are one off games and not two legged, with aggregate scores.

With the added factor of a £20miliion pot of gold your comparison of all out attack and win theory weakens further.

Celtic will play with a lot more caution than any of the two Scottish venues, but that’s not to say we won’t try and score, and we’ll counter attack in spells.

I’ve never heard of a team in front from a first leg playing the second leg on an attack and win at all costs basis, it doesn’t happen in European football.

Any draw and we’re also through, not to mention defeats, but 4-3 would be fine.

  11. “One of the great future of betting Sporting since a year ago was acquired for 2.5 million euros to Dundee United, Ryan Gauld remains integrated in the team B leonine, with no room to ascend to the highest level, a context that leads to SAD green and white, knows GAME, to study the loan attacking midfielder of 19 years yet this summer.
