Rest Rogic through the international break

398

The goal Livingston scored to defeat Celtic in September was their solitary strike in a run of six games.  Since then, form has bounced, they won 0-3 at St Johnstone, 2-3 at Ross County and drew 1-1 at home to Dundee United.  Notwithstanding that, I expect a backlash from Celtic tomorrow that goes someway to resolving the awful performance we put in at the Plastic Pasta Pitch.

Not so long ago, the persistent rain that has fallen on Scotland this week, would turn pitches into quagmires, unfit for precision passing.  By contrast, a soaking Easter Road on Wednesday could hardly be more accommodating to Celtic’s fast passing style.  Celtic Park should be equally accommodating tomorrow.

Although Tom Rogic was instrumental to the best of our performance against Hibs, there is no reason to risk his hamstring so soon.  Resting him for the trip to Hungary and then to Dens Park next weekend, would be enough to keep him from globetrotting with Australia during the subsequent international break.

We return from that break to a League Cup semi-final and a relentless run of fixtures ahead of the winter break.  A bit of squad management with Tom right now makes sense.

Mick, if that was the Caledonian Paper Mill in Irvine, then Brian Wilson would have been the local Labour MP at the time (Cunninghame North).

That is Ms Sturgeon’s neck of the woods, did a young Nicola not show up to lend her support to the workforce ?

Be interesting to see how many Celtic supporters would accept that the team playing out of Ibrox have won 55 league titles. Brian Wilson and the board does.

Great to hear you in fine fettle…

Yes, saw some great comments on Ange at Celtic from the Ozzies, knew he was held in high regard but it was amazing.

Ange has been a breath of fresh air and anything that rekindles Celtic’s global support has to be good.

It will be great to see him shine on a world stage.

If Celtic PLC do have Higgins in mind for any role at the club, they are demonstrating a truly staggering lack of awareness.

Only those individuals and their families who were on the end of the over-zealous and vindictive actions of the police during his period, enacting – with great gusto – the legal provisions at his disposal to harass and criminalise – particularly – Celtic fans, can fully appreciate how loathsome this appointment would be.

A half-hour’s silence is nothing against the months and years of hell that Celtic families had to endure at the hands of those acting under the direction of Higgins. He, and anyone who countenances such an appointment, should be hunted sine-die from Celtic.

  17. MELBOURNE MICK @ 1:22 PM,

Great to see the effect is so tangible.

You are spot on with the marketing.

Remember how many planes flew into Seville from Oz!!

When Celtic brought most of the merchandising in house and on line, they may have increased margins but has done nothing for the global branding.

Adidas insisted on their retail partners coming in on the deal and our merchandising rockets.

We have some great products now and we need to up our profile hugely.

Celtic TV as well as merchandising sales can bring in a lot of revenue and the Celtic diaspora can feel part of the Club again.

Better PR and merchandising is completely necessary.

Why did Brian Wilson apologise as per David17?

Why is a celtic ned even breaching the subject and entering the gokky eyed world of hun inability to cope with the shiting out?

Its bad enough having the unionist trolls on here with their excuses..you two know the score.

Brian his not getting it as he is a good labour man,and I know he is,he is getting criticised for augmenting the shite the Cork born billionaire first farted on the golf course about demotion etc.

So stop being disingenuous,it is you who are using his politics to defend his faux pas with shatoot fc yesterday.truly laughable.you both know he messed up.thats the end of it.it was nowt to do with your love of the genocidal cult or your abhorrence of those democratically elected in Scotland.all to do with how the executive speak after being financially cheated by the club owned by Sir Hunner of pence since he took over.

Maybe they were taking the temperature. I doubt it though, not in an obit piece. More likely it’s the settled will of the Celtic Board that they are buying in to the narrative. No one with half a brain should be surprised. It’s exactly how it was always going to pan out right from the start.

Funny how having an Irish owner has resulted in such a monumental betrayal.

    From previous

Sorry to hear of your injuries. Not good.

My point was bit short has been hurt most by Rangers fans though.

My point was Wilson gets it from them because of what he is and where he comes from. He gets it from the fat cats around the directors box, the supposed ambassadors of their club for reasons which are abhorrent. He is though someone who would have found it much easier in life to have just supported Rangers they is for sure. He doesn’t and never has. Despite the shit Some Celtic fans seem to want to throw at him. He was a fan long before he became a director in 2005. His history book was written in 87 I believe. That’s my point.

  24. So we don’t want ex Home secretarys on the board. No ex labour politicians actually.

No tories (unsure if this includes players or those fans who took advantage of tory policies)

Obviously, no one from snp cult.

    No ex senior cops.

Right, let’s call sevco the establishment team and whine at our lack of clout.

That’s what happens when you give weans a megaphone. They just whine louder

  25. AN TEARMANN on 29TH OCTOBER 2021 1:44 PM

The cult are forever criticising Brian Wilson on here. You know that perfectly well. And it has hee haw to do with his attitude to the huns. It’s because he has the cheek to call them out.

And still no one has suggested which SNP politico could replace him. Don’t you find that strange? They talk such a good game you’d think there would be at least one name they could suggest.

It’s almost as if the Club, are deliberately trying to antagonize the support

    ====================

I don’t think some realize just how monumentally bad an appointment such as this would be for fans – symbolically and in actuality. Especially those who have been at the sharp-end of the sly, sleekit, vindictive tactics employed under BH. The aggressive policing, the cameras, the body searches, the intimidation, the antagonism, the dawn raids, the lies, the deceit – any regular at away games will have their own examples.

The special football units actually made the job of the regular officers who police football games much more difficult. Never was a lovey-dovey relationship, but the football special units drove a real wedge between the police and fans. It was harmful across the board at all levels.

If this is a decision that is made within the PLC, then – for me – it will be an unforgivable one for those who make it, and a dark day for how Celtic fans will be treated by our club in future.

  28. ” a bit of squad management ”

We don’t have a strong enough squad to do that, especially in the midfield area.

  29. “I am not sure about Res 12. Outwith some blogs and the CST I really don’t think the supporters are that interested. Rightly or wrongly.”

It is not truly possible to be interested in something if you have only heard of it vaguely.

Unless we experience something ourselves, we need to be informed before creating and holding a viewpoint. In our society, that information, in the main, comes from the written and spoken media. The Intenet and Blogs have helped but the same rule applies to them ie they need to get their information from the same sources as the rest of us and then give their own interpretations of that material. Even then, the vast majority of supporters still, I believe, get their information from the MSSM.

It should come as no surprise, then, that Res 12 has had little impact.

That does not mean it should be forgotten.
