Rest Rogic through the international break

398

The goal Livingston scored to defeat Celtic in September was their solitary strike in a run of six games.  Since then, form has bounced, they won 0-3 at St Johnstone, 2-3 at Ross County and drew 1-1 at home to Dundee United.  Notwithstanding that, I expect a backlash from Celtic tomorrow that goes someway to resolving the awful performance we put in at the Plastic Pasta Pitch.

Not so long ago, the persistent rain that has fallen on Scotland this week, would turn pitches into quagmires, unfit for precision passing.  By contrast, a soaking Easter Road on Wednesday could hardly be more accommodating to Celtic’s fast passing style.  Celtic Park should be equally accommodating tomorrow.

Although Tom Rogic was instrumental to the best of our performance against Hibs, there is no reason to risk his hamstring so soon.  Resting him for the trip to Hungary and then to Dens Park next weekend, would be enough to keep him from globetrotting with Australia during the subsequent international break.

We return from that break to a League Cup semi-final and a relentless run of fixtures ahead of the winter break.  A bit of squad management with Tom right now makes sense.

Think you are way off the mark there.

So, the only reason Celtic supporters are criticising this guy for his inaccurate comments about “Rangers” is because he was a Labour politician?

I reckon you are being very disrespectful to the vast majority of critics on here who are having their say due to his lickspittle attitude towards the dead team and not due to any political allegiance he has.

That’s bullshit and you know it. The cult have been attacking Brian Wilson and demanding he be replaced for ages. They hate him because he tells the truth about them.

So you think Wilson has covered himself in glory over the last few years regarding Celtic then?

Personally, I could not give a flying **** what political party he has represented, how he votes or what colour his socks are. All I know is that he is a liquidation denier and talks up the team from Govan when given half a chance. He and the likes of him should be nowhere near our club.

  4. Delighted to see Rogic been given the respect he deserves

Grinded my gears with the comments of some who just didn’t get what he brought to the team

  5. When the subject of the Celtic board/Police Scotland come up in discussion it is preferable to listen to those who fought on the front line, who attended the rallies, went to the meetings, funded the legal defence for those who found themselves in front of the courts

I am sure the likes of Messrs Juranovic, Starfelt and Kyogo will struggle to cope for the first 30 minutes tomorrow without their weekly lecture in Irish Republicanism ……

  9. Agreed Paul67

Although he’s been our best player recently, which is a testament to Ange’s man-management and coaching skills, we’re getting to the stage where we have enough match-winners in the team to be able to give him a break. Keep him off three very long flights and fit for a busy 6 weeks before he puts us top against the horribles. Or maybe even extends our lead.

Assuming of course that’s what he wants.

  11. I don’t think remaining silent for the 1st 30mins is the way to the question Higgins appointment. It will punish the team, not a very endearing thing to do. I don’t think many in the stadium will follow this, apart from the organised groups within the crowd.

I would like to come up with another suggestion, but I don’t have one, por cierto.

  12. Hello again all you young rebels.

Brian Wilson eh? seems to be the topic of the day.

Think he made an arse of his attempt at decency to the deceased.

But I remember him from way back in the day when I was a shop

steward on the building of the paper mill at Irvine, and the company

we’re bringing in foreign labour from Finland I believe, to construct

Steelwork to the detriment of many unemployed steel erectors at

that time, and he was the only politician who showed face to support

    us.

I’ll cut him some slack at the moment 🧐

    Are you a politician?

  15. MELBOURNE MICK on 29TH OCTOBER 2021 12:30 PM

As a politician, Brian Wilson showed a lot of socialist concerns for working-class people and communities. Lots of other politicians and trade union representatives did the same, but, they then would proceed to take a seat in the House of Lords, Brian took his seat in the Boardroom instead though! :)) por cierto

I am in no way seeking to undermine his achievements in his political career. Just from a Celtic point of view he has done very little to endear himself to the support.

Just maybe these great socialists felt it was better to join

  19. I think, unfortunately, the Green Brigade silence decision will back fire .

When/if Celtic score the noise will be deafening therefore defeating the purpose of the protest .

I support the reason but not the action.

Make the biggest banner possible to highlight this disgusting decision and include Wilson in it HH

  20. Hope Tom Rogic gets all rest recuperation time he needs, brilliant as he has been, we know his fragilities. So don’t play him not fit and don’t over play him.

Having said that, if he is fit he should play for his national side – Australia need him.

Tom loves playing for Australia and Ange wouldn’t deliberately hinder their chances of a World Cup.

The mind set that thinks up these strategies is also the mind set that meant we lost McGinn and soured our relationship with countess players including Lustig.

We should just start doing the right thing, after all we’re the first to call others out as cheats.

Seen a Warren Buffet quote recently that I liked…

“… honesty is an expensive gift, do not expect it from cheap people”,

As we start playing football the Glasgow Celtic way, off the pitch we need to find our class again…

  21. ONIL,

Brian Wilson has written best selling Celtic books. If you have read any of his Celtic books you will see he is extremely knowledgeable and supportive of Celtic since 1887.

Please give examples of where he has done very little to endear himself to the Celtic support.

I am well aware of the books he has written.

    Examples?

Last year he wanted, during a pandemic, to allow Ibrox to open to allow the hordes to celebrate their historic league win.

Yesterday’s comment that denied the liquidation of Rangers.

The whole profile of Celtic has been turned round again here in Oz.

More news time, goals shown , and the quality of big handsome Tom
