Rest Rogic through the international break

398

The goal Livingston scored to defeat Celtic in September was their solitary strike in a run of six games.  Since then, form has bounced, they won 0-3 at St Johnstone, 2-3 at Ross County and drew 1-1 at home to Dundee United.  Notwithstanding that, I expect a backlash from Celtic tomorrow that goes someway to resolving the awful performance we put in at the Plastic Pasta Pitch.

Not so long ago, the persistent rain that has fallen on Scotland this week, would turn pitches into quagmires, unfit for precision passing.  By contrast, a soaking Easter Road on Wednesday could hardly be more accommodating to Celtic’s fast passing style.  Celtic Park should be equally accommodating tomorrow.

Although Tom Rogic was instrumental to the best of our performance against Hibs, there is no reason to risk his hamstring so soon.  Resting him for the trip to Hungary and then to Dens Park next weekend, would be enough to keep him from globetrotting with Australia during the subsequent international break.

We return from that break to a League Cup semi-final and a relentless run of fixtures ahead of the winter break.  A bit of squad management with Tom right now makes sense.

    ………..

I assume that you CONTRIBUTE NOTHING to Celtic via Season Card, Celtic shop etc etc…IF you DO….then I will admit to getting that wrong, however….

If my first assumption is correct, YOU have a Feckin cheek slagging ANY Celtic supporter who, thru freedom of choice, wishes to hand over hard earned cash to support the TEAM !

YOU deliberately like to forget about the emotional attachment that many Celtic supporters have with the Team and the Club in general, over many decades…….but you wouldnt understand that, would you ?

Some Celtic supporters may be happy to pay for Season Cards, and seats that maybe their long lost Mum/Dad and/or grandfather/mother/Aunt etc once had ?

The ONLY ” Emotional Attachment” YOU obviously have is with your feckin keyboard.

WHY are you so bothered about any money that Celtic supporters pay into the Club…IF YOU Contribute NOTHING….year in and year out ?

Its got Feck all to do with you.

There must be many millions of reasons why you are a CHUMP….and heres one…..”you dont have any mates” !

IF you DID have mates who pay money to watch Celtic…I’ll bet that you Do NOT call them Cowards/Fakes etc to their faces…cos you would get a heavy Slap.

Did the OO parade used to stop outside Galloway’s mothers house? A lot.

Did the OO not attack Galloway at an airport?

Was Galloway not told to get himself and his mother back onto the boat if they didn’t like living in Scotland?

Can’t remember the full wording of the airport story, but t was along those lines.

Are Galloway and Lennon, kindred spirits of sorts?

Keep the peace Big Jimmy. ✌

  5. Watched Ange presser.

Answer to first question was brilliant.

I do think he missed an opportunity to call out Wednesday nights ref and referees in general, when he was asked about Rogics injury.

    Probably not allowed to.

  6. Do youse think it would benefit the team if MJ added something to his game – beat 1 player and pass!

  7. I have no doubt that there was animosity and hatred towards Brian Wilson before he made his stupid comments in the Guardian Obituary. I called these comments out and I still condemn them after his apology. Brian is an intelligent and humane man and because of that I hold him to higher standards and expectations than I have for Ian Bankier. Therefore, Brian clearly let the Celtic support down and many on here have criticised him rightly without adding a party political element to it.

Having said that, I don’t think Brian needs to be removed as a Celtic director because of what he wrote there nor do I think the GB need to make a Party Political point about this.

I still have admiration for Brian Wiilson as a person, politician and Celtic man and I hope his close Celtic friends feel confident in telling him why he was wrong to write what he did in an otherwise, uncontentious piece on Walter Smith.

Now, if Brian Wilson was to be removed fron his NED position as part of a general shake up of an out-of-touch and dysfunctional Celtic Board, that would be acceptable. If he was replaced by a more active and involved current figure, even an SNP politician, I would not find that objectionable on Party Political Grounds.

But you don’t get to remove Brian from the Celtic family, any more than you can remove Neil Lennon from it, because of mis-steps or mis-speaks. Both have earned too many merits to let a couple of demerits wipe it all out.

But, as for the Bernard Higgins issue, if it is true, that is a different kettle (sic) of fish. That man actively promoted issues which caused actual harm ( not just embarrassment or incredulity as was the case with Brian Wilson) to a large number of Celtic fans. People lost their jobs, courses and potential careers as a result of his enthusiasm for the SNPs mince laws. I don’t agree with the method of protest suggested by GB and the Celtic Trust, as I think it will backfire spectacularly once we score our opener, but I fully support them in the view that appointing him to any substantive position, is an antagonistic move to our support.

Any attempt to link the two cases in a single protest will look like a thoughtless blunderbuss approach and will dilute the message.

I think MJ would be a transformed player if he had the build of Johnny Hayes.

  9. D O’L – I rate him, I would have him in any celtic squad – I do think he needs mentoring though.

Just imagine the penalty hadn’t been given. They then get a legitimate equaliser with a couple of minutes to. Then in added time they get a winner. It would have bedlam, the spirit of Walter Smith and all that stuff.

Borg067, I don’t know you mate but I’m sure you’re a goodCeltic man like most of the folks that post on here,

This being a Celtic blog ask yourself, why would any of us want to imagine that ?

‘VAR necessary in SPFL’ says Glass. Having been cheated out of all 3 points I get where he’s coming from, but we should be very, very careful what we wish for.

I’m firmly on the fence until I see whether the SMSM and sundry hundits are for or against. If they are all in favour we should vehemently oppose as it would be a very clear signal they’ve been given the nod and it will only reinforce the cheating.

  13. So we have Celtic fans criticising the Celtic Board for accepting and promoting the same club narrative, but funding the same board through purchase of season books etc, and criticising the Celtic Board for appointing an ex plod because of his implementation of SNP legislation targeted at Celtic fans, but continuing to support and vote for the SNP.

    Aye, right you are then.

Incoherent and inconsistent doesn’t come close.

  14. Serious note….

I hope with this adverse weather that Scaniel, his family and his sanctuary are safe from the terrible flooding.

What is the name of a Celtic supporters website were the guy who runs the site asked his members to “just move on” from all of Rangers issues and concentrate on Celtic issues ?

    Anyone know ?
