Result achieved for Celtic but Danny Lennon will see promise for Saturday

903

It’s difficult to analyse Celtic’s performance last night.  For much of the game the players were clearly enjoying themselves and should have been rewarded with more goals, but Dunfermline were incredibly porous in central midfield.  Ki and Commons were able to stage a passing master-class which was pleasing on the eye.

The fact that the deluge of goals didn’t come is not particularly concerning.  Celtic don’t make a habit of profligacy in front of goals, making chances is more of a problem, so it would be a mistake to read too much into one game.

While Dunfermline were out of the contest for most of the evening they also retained two strikers, something we seldom see from SPL visitors at Celtic Park, so that fact that they were able to construct an attempt at goal five minutes from time was not surprising.

Celtic got what they needed from the game but Danny Lennon, who brings St Mirren to Celtic Park on Saturday, will also have seen enough to let him form a decent game-plan, especially if Celtic play a 4-4-2 with two wingers, as they finished the game yesterday.

We shouldn’t be giving these tax dodgers any tickets for the huns game on 28th, its an interest free loan that will never be paid.

If we have to give them x amount of tickets I’d make der hun supporters go through a ticket agency, cutting out der huns access to the ticket money.

Very similar to the Barca game at Celtic Park – Celtic need to retain the ball. 2-0 and could get worse.

  16. Auldheid – read your Celtic Underground article. Good stuff. Being collectively clever is what it will take.

I am just after reading Phil Macs latest on the Celtic supporter who was stopped by special branch at Glasgow airport and questioned about the Green Brigade under the PTA. So while we may take the high ground and do our bit to contribute to the healing of division and ending the causes of division, it is an unfortunate truth that in Scotland, unlike Ireland, the Police, the SFA, Rangers FC and others with their hands on the tiller, have never been called to account for their part – which is the large part.

As long as people in high places are allowed to ‘even up the score’ as they see it, on behalf of ‘their’ team and ‘their’ fellow supporters then our efforts will be only slightly effective.

But I agree with you, we should just stop singing about the ‘RA. It is very rare if ever we hear the words ‘Orange B%^$£%d’ used at Celtic park and certainly very very very rarely in chant form. So we drop IRA from the repertoire and we remove cause to punish the club.

BUT The Green Brigade and others who wish to express ‘political’ opinion and groups like FAC might find it a little harder to shake an intransigent police force and paranoid state. This I am afraid is going to end in robust legal action being taken somewhere down the line.

This is going to run, but the one thing we can do just now is create a bit of chatter about the tactical requirement to withdraw the letter IRA from the public song book. In the current climate The Red Flag or the Internationale would be more appropriate anyway!!

MadMitch from earlier, players in SPL rangers could get if they sold top players and earners. Ian Black would be a kicker for them

as would Jennings Lasley and Forbes from Motherwell. Scott Allen of Dundee Utd is a fantastic prospect, hopefully we will be in

for him. Daly and Russell of Dundee Utd as well would probably do a job for them.

You’re a bit harsh there Kojo, most teams in the world, maybe even every team in the world would struggle against the Barca young team.

We are trying to pass and move, but we’re playing against a top quality team who close down fast, limiting options.

Its not an issue having a different opinion – the worst thing is not to have an opinion at all :)

The team are missing a few players but playing well, I see great things in the future if we can keep a group as talented as this together and they dont get sidetracked by women and booze like I did ;)

    My god.

It goes to show you where their feelings sit.

Celtic support showing support for a defunct former military organisation which is now entirely involved in peace building, actively on a daily basis in most corners of Ireland.

And this is what these guys have a problem with.

I wonder how they would handle the situation if the Celtic support showed support to those whose own individual wars are not over.

    They are total, total neanderthals.

Saw the u19s in Manchester v City and they could pass.

I think it is a question of time and pace.

I have not seen.any of the match tonight but I would imagine Barca are playing at a quicker pace. Quicker passing. Closing down, more weight on the ball and better touch.

Other teams cannot match this and sounds like our Bhoys are the same.
