Roberts craft, Rod the entertainer, January anxiety

231

Albion Rovers did as much as could be asked of them yesterday. They defended solidly, conceding only to an impossible to defend strike from Player of the Year-designate Scott Sinclair, until the final 13 minutes of the game.

A lazy observation would conclude that it was tiredness which caused the part-timers to lose two late goals, but that wasn’t the case. Patrick Roberts ability to draw opponents close, before exploiting the space behind them changed a 0-1 score into a 0-3 result. Without Roberts, we would have continued to pass in an arc around the Rovers defensive pyramid.

A home draw in the next round was as welcome as it was unexpected – what happens, I suppose, when a good Celtic man gets to draw the balls. Rod Stewart proved he is the complete entertainer as he brought colour to what is too often a soulless procedure. When presenting to the public, some forget football THEY ARE EMPLOYED in an entertainment industry.

Having already spent a reasonable amount of money this month, the normal January anxiety is contained to the permanently anxious, but, as you know, transfer windows are all about the last few days. We’re still working. Usual caveats apply.

  1. ‘Alternative facts’ is up there with ‘Imperfectly Registered’. Straight outta the Sandy Bryson school of spin.

  2. A Tim, an hun, a hot blonde and a fat woman get on the subway at Ibrox,They go into a tunnel and the lights go out, and suddenly they all hear a loud slap. When the lights come on, the Hun has a big red handprint on his face.

The blonde thinks: “Oh, the Hun must have made a move for me, but fondled that fat woman by mistake and she slapped him.”

The fat woman thinks: “Hmm, that Hun tried to put the moves on that blonde and got slapped. Good for her.”

The Hun thinks: “Hey, that Tim must have gone for the blonde and she slapped me by mistake!”

The Tim thinks: “Boy, I hope we go through another tunnel, so I can smack that ugly Hun bassa again”.

  3. As Air Force One arrives at Heathrow Airport , President Obama strides out to a warm and dignified reception from the Queen.

They are driven in a 1934 Bentley to the edge of central London , where they change to a magnificent 17th century carriage hitched to six white horses.

They continue on towards Buckingham Palace , waving to the thousands of cheering Brits; all is going well.

Suddenly, the right rear horse lets out the most horrendous earth shattering fart ever heard in the British Empire .

The smell is so atrocious that both passengers in the carriage must use handkerchiefs over their noses.

The fart shakes the coach, but, the two dignitaries of State do their best to ignore the incident.

The Queen politely turns to President Obama and says:

“Mr President, please accept my deepest regrets… I am sure you understand there are some things that even a Queen cannot control.”

Obama, always trying to be “Presidential,” responded:

“Your Majesty, do not give the matter another thought … Until you mentioned it, I thought it was one of the horses.”

  4. Guys I have not read one post from 08.00 this morning so apologies if I’ve missed anything

It is with a real broken heart I post this news

Those who know me, will know it’s my family, Celtic and my Dogs

Well this morning my daughters partner had the dogs out, and the wee one (Honey) got off her harness and disappeared with Hugo following her. Hugo was usually come back

Anyway, a full day trying to find my dogs

Tonight at 9 pm the police came to my daughters house, to inform us a farmer had shot our 2 dogs, the friendliest wee things you could meet

This bastard must have hunted them down as if shot 1 the other would have bolted

No, multiple shots, and police would not return the dogs to us

This farmer tells the police they had attacked his sheep,

Absolutely devastated, I’ve lost my wee dogs

Good one buddy. Keep at them.

That piece reminds me of a Carl Hiaasan quote,

“Good satire comes from anger. It comes from a sense of injustice, that there are wrongs in the world that need to be fixed”

He goes on to say something about the newsroom being on the front line of satire.

He obviously never visited a newsroom in Scotland.

    Hard to take.

A loss compounded by a sense of injustice.

Surprised that police are entitled to ” not return the dogs to us . ”

    Your property .

I`d be having a word with the RSPCA.

Scottish and Irish connections to the Deep South are fascinating. I always get the impression that the basis of country music was from influences imported by the Scots and Irish .

*predominately Irish of a Scottish bent. When Daniel O’Connell was successful in his campaigning of the Catholic Emancipation Act a lot of the populace of tangerine persuasion fled the country.

The term hillbilly refers to people who dwell in rural, mountainous areas primarily in Appalachia and the Ozarks which was settled in the 18th century by migrants from Ulster who were supporters of the wee dikeplugger and were often referred to as “billy’s boys”.

    Presley and Everley .

*the king actually had a fatherland background with a little bit Dutch and Danish. His alleged Scottish/Irish is a myth.

    The subject fascinates me.

    Re. Presley.

His skin tones always suggested Mexican or native American influence.

However , I`ll look into it further , but I was told there was a N.E. Scotland connection or rather claim.

    Hillbillies . Logical :-)

  12. The police told me the farmer was within his rights ?

I challenged this on basis one dog must have run away, therefor he has hunted it down ?

Therefor acting illegally ? Police have stated he had a witness ?

There is no way they would have attacked a sheep, Hugo would run away from it

Would not give me details of farmer, details on alleged sheep attacked ?, or how far apart dogs were when retrieved ?

All asked – will follow up tomorrow with a visit to Police headquarters

It was up the back of Fankerton, loads of small holding farms

I chapped the doors of 3 farms asking permission to look in their fields, tonight

The police informed us the farmer had shot the dogs at around 2

We had reported them missing to Police around same time

How did it take them 7 hours to get back to us and inform us

Something not right which the police need to answer

When reading back the other day on a previous night’s posts I noticed E on his high horse , being condescending while on his favourite subject….politics .He was basically telling yourself and DD that you weren’t capable of competing with him in that particular debate !

Pompous and hunish came to mind.

The ole CQN question springs to mind. Can any Tim on here vouch for him being genuine or ever met him ? Just asking like.
