BRENDAN RODGERS has been linked with a swoop on ex-club Chelsea for one of his first signings for Celtic.
The new Hoops boss is said to be eyeing a move for the Stamford Bridge outfit’s young right-back Fankaty Dabo.
Rodgers, who spent four years at the club as understudy to Jose Mourinho, could sound out the possibility of a loan deal for the England Under-20 international.
London-born Dabo, who has yet to make a first team appearance for the Premier giants, is out of contract in June 2017.
Rodgers has identified the five-in-a-row champions need cover in the No.2 position with Mikael Lustig making 43 appearances last season. Lustig’s form last season was regarded by many supporters as not being at the level achieved by the player before his hip operation.
The 29-year-old Swede only had Saidy Janko, bought by Ronny Deila from Manchester United for £1million last summer, and Efe Ambrose as back-up.
Swiss international Janko missed a chunk of the campaign through injury while Nigerian international Ambrose has already been linked with Turkish outfit Fenerbahce.
He could be one of the first out of the Parkhead exit as Rodgers trims his 30-strong playing squad.
