Rogic endorsement of direction of travel

538

Tom Rogic is good.  Very good.  He has scored cup winning goals, league winning goals, scored against Newco at three different venues, and most deliciously, has scored Champions League qualification goals.  That old football adage, “Yes, but can he do it when it really matters?”, is never asked about Tom.

With one year left on his existing Celtic contract, he is off with Australia to the World Cup, the most prominent shop window in the game, where good players with a one-year balance on their contracts are a premium.

The news that he signed a five-year contract yesterday has surprised many, including me.  One week ago today, when I asked a ‘senior source at Celtic’ the prospects or retaining his services, I was not encouraged.  “The money on offer in England……..”

This deal is an endorsement of the direction the club is heading from within the dressing room.  Players know where the club is going, Tom knows.  That’s why he has signed.  I am sure his contract reflects his ability, but I am also sure he could have earned more elsewhere.  And five years!!  That’s nearly a Jim McLean!

Good luck tomorrow, Tom, let’s have a repeat of last season’s Cup Final.

He’s my type of player; I’ve read everything about him and watched every clip of him but it will never make up for not seeing him live. When questioning relatives from that era: ‘Murdoch’ was the one word answer that said so much.

The point you raise is a disgrace. But here’s one in defence of mine.

Bins being emptied on a Sunday afternoon when apparently the roads are likely to be blocked by naughty careless Celtic supporters.

Why at that time of the week?

Is it because it’s actually quieter then-I know most logistics managers work this out-or is it to make a point?

If the roads are more likely to be blocked,I wouldn’t send my team there that day. Which means,IMO,that they are there on a Sunday because it’s a quiet day.

Fairhill Bhoy, Nicholas , great player that he was for us in his first spell and showed some occasional flashes of his old self in his second spell as a Celtic player.

my son is going tomorrow .

He is 18 and showing no nerves . I wish I was the same .

  8. We are needing a few new quality signings . Then maybe we will be sure of getting less mediocre performances . As you all know ,we attend matches wondering what celtic will turn up . Terrific news on Tom Rogic . ,and the goalie , ajar for me has still a long way to go , but glad he is aboard , he will mature with us . For me we need a right back , a no nonsense centre half .and a enforcer to help oor broonie out , someone who will make the hammer throwers , he is now encountering , think twice before going in with over the top dirty challenges , it will happen tomorrow again , all under the watchful eye of the mib . Get the men in now peter ,

does anybody remember or heard tales of the songs sung from the primary school at the bottom of the ‘posh flats that mccoist moved into’ at the start of his oldco career – heard about them today from a great ghirl but she wouldn’t divulge the words – they were that rude. Mcmoist used to go around asking if the peeps wanted autographs – gtf darling.

  11. BMCUWP the office workers issue is a red herring. There is very little up that way in terms of offices etc and those that are (Social Work, biscuit factory etc have ample off road parking) and the other incomes are pretty much in the industrial estates.

On street parking in general is in short supply so the influx of supporters does eat it up. More so now because many more people tend to come in cars.

Proper public transport links are essential but you can rule out car parks because GCC won’t go for it. They could open the large Emirates car park and resolve some of the problems. Shuttle buses would also relieve problems.
