Ronny will value having game on Friday night

816

Yesterday I caught myself moaning about potentially winning the league without playing a game (epitome of first world problems).  How quickly we forget the pain of the 90s.  Let’s bring the title home as soon as possible, no matter where we are or what we’re doing.  There could be people doing the Ronny Roar in shopping streets across Scotland on Saturday.

The one place Ronny will not be doing the Ronny Roar is out shopping, though.  This time of year managers’ weekends are fully booked: one day for the game, one day scouting at another game.  With a game on the Friday night Ronny will be able to take in games on Saturday and Sunday.  Scouting opportunities before the end of the season are limited, so he’ll value the extra day.

A year ago Hibs asked to allow their season ticket holders into a play-off game for free – there’s your rule.  The opportunity to deny another club the same has gone.  Faux indignation about not even asking permission doesn’t register with me.

Club sponsor Magners have offered us a pair of premium tickets to the Jock Stein Stand for Friday’s game.  All you need to do to win is send me an email with the name of the team we play in the SUBJECT line of your email.  Competition closes at 9pm tonight (Wednesday), so not a lot of time.

If you would like to do something enormously constructive while entering the competition, you could always donate £1 (or more if you like) to our Mary’s Meals school kitchen appeal, which you can do right here.  Many thanks.

  3. Too late Jude! Shame that.

Your appeal must have been missed.

I waited hoping you’d get it for yer bhoy’s great achievement!

  4. I am enquiring around the Overseas Season ticket which is available.

Myself and my son due to circumstances can’t make the football every home match.

    The main reasons are below.

    Midweek matches

    Matches in the winter

    Late changes of KO times

My son is only two. He currently has a season ticket next to my father and I use his ticket to take my son along when he is either away or has the use of another ticket from his CSC.

I live in Edinburgh so I have to factor in travel and with my son being so young midweek games are completely out of the question. Also matches in the winter are out of the question as it is way too cold. I took him to a match a few months ago and we spent the start of the 2nd half in the concourse trying to warm up until the screens were switched off. It was freezing. I had to then make my way back to our seats. I thought that was unwise. My kid was freezing and I was warming him up and it meant taking him back out in the cold.

So I want us to be part of the Celtic family and I want my Bhoy to have his season ticket but I also want us to do this together. I can keep his seat in its current place but I would rather we had our own.

So my questions around the overseas season ticket are as follows

Even though we live in Scotland can we apply?

Can you pay the tickets up or does it have to be paid in full?

    Is there a concession option?

Can we purchase these seats on an adhoc basis for cup matches and additional league games?

I think the club are missing an opportunity here with people like myself. There must be a lot of people like me who would love to be involved but can’t buy a season ticket at the minute because they will not get value for money from it.

I can probably make around 6-10 games a season at the moment. I can only really go at weekends with my son.

I had a season ticket for around 20 years. Celtic is a huge part of my life. If I had the money I would just buy myself one but times are tight and I want to make sure if I do this it means that the seat is being used when we are not using so I believe the ethos of this overseas ticket are good.

May I suggest a weekend family season ticket?

Maybe not for this season but in the future where people with children can take them to matches on a weekend match. I would love to go to the Champions League matches again and away games and follow the team abroad but I am unable to. My circumstances have changed. I am still a Celtic supporter but I don’t feel part of the club and that is difficult for me. I want to be a member and I have heard a lot of suggestions of a membership card which I would support but the overseas season ticket looks the best option available for me at this point in time.

If it is not feasible then I completely understand but there must be something that can be offered to fans like myself who are desperate to be part of our club but can’t commit to a full season ticket at the moment.

Many thanks for taking the time to read my email and general ramblings.

    Yours in Celtic

    LB & LB Jr

Any thoughts on this family season ticket deal for around 10 home games a season?

Say a set price of £300.

This is £30 per game for both a parent and child around the cost of an adult ticket currently. The club get the cash up front. They notify you either in advance or as many of the 10 games as possible at the time you buy. These games would be weekend only.

If games are moved due to TV to say a Friday or Midweek then a cup game can maybe fill the void or a voucher for the club shop or a reduction off the following season’s ticket.

This is obviously not an option this season but there is a large part of the LL stand with a banner on it and it could be filled or half filled for at least 10 home matches a season on a weekend.

Thoughts and general ripping apart of my idea welcome.

This email was sent off to CFC this morning.

I am not getting this the Rangers who are supposed to be in financial difficulty want to let there fans into play-off matches for nothing. Now there are many costs in holding a football match which need to be paid even if the fans get in free surely free entry can only add to there debt ? or am I missing something ? H.H.

We should have won it weeks ago like last season, but we have a third rate manager in place ,very poor season and pirate pete piuts up the season book prices

Exactly, Paul. Once you make an exception it becomes a precedent.

SPFL have messed up YET AGAIN!

  15. Ronny said on Sunday after the game, having been asked about the possibility of clinching the title without playing if we beat Dundee on the Friday night, and Aberdeen fail to beat Dundee United at the weekend:

“I don’t care, as soon as possible”.

    And he’s 100% correct.

  16. Ronny Deila says he will be at daughters’ confirmation in Norway on Saturday, the day #Celtic could win the league.

Not sure he’ll get away with a Ronny roar.

  17. I knew there had to be some reason why I managed to get the podium.

Apologies to Jude, my head is fully hung in shame.

Sometimes, too good to be true is just that!

  18. I’m happy with Friday night football. Like Ronny I’m glad that it frees up the rest of the weekend.

For me the days of 3pm on a Saturday are finished. It’s early kick offs that annoy me more than anything. All across Europe games kick off later on in the day.

  19. Ps. Nadir Chifti. Not for me, not good enough and does not fit the bill in terms of work rate etc. Strange one.

With your ability in arithmetic,I bet you reckoned we’d won it in February!

  21. the crazy thing about one of the seventy is they voted yes. Please stop kidding everyone on. The over hating of Celtic with that deliberately daft name, definitely a very bad, confused, misguided plant.

Told you before it’s not good for you. You’ll end up with Schizophrenia if you’re not there already.

  22. BMCUW…

You’re right. I grew up in the 90’s. For all I knew rangers won everything and always had done. When we lost on penalties to Raith it was just conformation in my young mind we would never win anything!

We all have preferences where we would like to win the league before but if it’s a Thursday night at Tannadice or home to St Johnstone they all turn out to be special.

Will never take it for granted.

    Hail Hail.

  23. oneofthe70percent….. what nonsense. Just saw Bayern won the German league on Sat with 4 games to go.. they have infinitely more resources than anyone in Germany and are more relative miles ahead of the rest of the league there than we are here. Winning the league is the be all and end all. Whether it’s by 20 plus points or by 1 goal, winning is all that ultimately matters.
