Ronny will value having game on Friday night

816

Yesterday I caught myself moaning about potentially winning the league without playing a game (epitome of first world problems).  How quickly we forget the pain of the 90s.  Let’s bring the title home as soon as possible, no matter where we are or what we’re doing.  There could be people doing the Ronny Roar in shopping streets across Scotland on Saturday.

The one place Ronny will not be doing the Ronny Roar is out shopping, though.  This time of year managers’ weekends are fully booked: one day for the game, one day scouting at another game.  With a game on the Friday night Ronny will be able to take in games on Saturday and Sunday.  Scouting opportunities before the end of the season are limited, so he’ll value the extra day.

A year ago Hibs asked to allow their season ticket holders into a play-off game for free – there’s your rule.  The opportunity to deny another club the same has gone.  Faux indignation about not even asking permission doesn’t register with me.

Club sponsor Magners have offered us a pair of premium tickets to the Jock Stein Stand for Friday’s game.  All you need to do to win is send me an email with the name of the team we play in the SUBJECT line of your email.  Competition closes at 9pm tonight (Wednesday), so not a lot of time.

If you would like to do something enormously constructive while entering the competition, you could always donate £1 (or more if you like) to our Mary’s Meals school kitchen appeal, which you can do right here.  Many thanks.

Somewhat disappointed that the objective is only to equal Rosenborg’s 13-titles-in-a-row.

Ronny Deila should at least be aiming to better their record, and look to be winning at least 14 on the bounce, maybe even 15.

I sometimes think that the manager could be a bit more ambitious.

The gash and unadulterated crap that is flying about to give anybody the manager of the year job but him is embarrassing and vulgar, not that I give a fack, and I also think he soesent give one either, the man’s to clever, butthe13 in a row will piss them all off, smsm, SFA, spfl, and Huns, it may or may not happen, but who gives a flack, he talks the talk, and walks the walk, well done Ronny.

‘And is ronny d being disrespectful to scottish football by saying celtic will win 13 in a row….’

What he actually said, ‘everything is achievable so that is the dream, to keep winning, winning, winning. And to go to the CL and make scottish people proud of celtic. But if you start doing bad work you liar your money and your advantage over the others.’

  22. I read the Scotsman article and I do not see it stated by Ronny Deila that his ambition is to win 13 (or any other number) titles in a row.

As usual, it is the journo that framed the question, “Could Celtic match or better Rosenborg’s achievements?”. Ronny replied in a “Why not?” fashion. But, in specifying hois own version of the ambition, his own words were “to keep on winning and winning and to do well in the Champions League”, a far more laudable and ambitious aim.

If it was Ronny’s ambition to better Rosenborg’s Small League achievement and not very coveted title run, I would actually think a bit less of him. It would suggest that he came with a parochial mind set and was transplanting it here. (BTW I think the same when I hear the “Here we go, 10 in a row chant” from our fans- we are stuck with measuring only one half- the lesser half of the Stein era- the real test is European level credibility).

I am more re-asured that Ronny laid the emphasis on continual winning and on Europe and did not set Rosenborg as his benchmark.

P.S. When are the club going to grasp the commercial opportunity to market Ronny Deila knitwear jumpers in the Celtic shop? I reckon I could rock that look :-)

  23. HT

It is worth watching because it gives you a hint into why he plays the football style he does. A style that you and I both considered was “wide open” to shipping goals. Domestically, this year, we have been proven wrong, thanks to super work by Jason, Virgil and Craig (when was the last time a Celtic keeper shone on league duties?: FF mostly impressed in Euro ties).

I know we both still worry about the defensive set up but the video goes some way to explaining where he parts company with the more pragmatic approach of NFL and WGS before him.

  24. TD67,

  29. HT you are on a sticky wicket this morning. Hope your pupils were not lurking on here this early or you are in trouble. Teacher did not do his homework as he promised. Go easy on him bhoys and ghirls.

  30. So….let me get this right….Ronny…stones-kicked-by-big-Yogi-2-weeks-in-a-row…losing the chance of winning the treble for the Celtic fans coz – he failed to prepare…imho

Ronny should have played his strongest team ‘at’ ICT when he chose to play without, GMS and, SA…with a view to ‘preparing’ a team for the SCSF…he flucked-it-up…instead of knocking the stuffing oot Yogi’s team…he handed them the initiative…very naive…imho

At least 4 of Ronny’s players didny turn-up at Hampden and, to compound the folly…Tonev was on the bench….wtf….?

Blaming refs is all good, so long as the manager has the cojones to nail-the-mib-to-the-wall-straight-after-the-game….none of this pansy-p#sh…of, sending letters…?

Ronny skirted roon the issue of the ref when asked…..I saw puppity-strings.+

If Liam Henderson dizny come back to play for the 1st team and get rid of Commons to do some coaching or something then….I smell a – RD-PL-JM-conveyer-belt-of-sell-as-soon-as-players-coming-on-the-scene – also, if there is anybody left to be fooled by the Celtic Board…please get wi the programme.

Given the widespread use of zero hours contracts I find the weight of criticism aimed at SD quite interesting.

Certainly their working practices are not considerably worse than those reported at Amazon’s.

I wonder (and I’m not suggesting your thoughts echo this) how much of it is down to the perceived clientele of SD.
