There would have been no surprise reading Ronny Deila’s ‘heaven and hell’ season in the Celtic View. It must have been an enthralling season for the manager but, good grief, it started with an 8.6 on the Strachan Early Season Scale.
These experiences mark us. We’ve watched footballers and managers grow weary (another word for lazy) in the past, as their early groundwork waned during good times, but memories like Legia or Maribor will inform every decision Ronny Deila makes for the next four months. He needs to use that ‘Never again’ month as fuel right now.
Did you sign the petition yesterday to demand the Scottish Government repeal their ill-conceived nonsense of a law which the entire country outside of Holyrood, and a few elites at Police Scotland, know is an abomination? If not, here’s your chance.

That’s the real story for me. FPP is undemocratic and outdated.
Considering the tories will now have the power to change constituency borders I’m terrified.
The tory establishment will fight to the death for FPP, on any proportional system they are toast
Can’t see any government with a majority changing the FFP system.
@Ray Winstone’s Big Disembodied Heid
Don’t assume I’m complaining about the system for Labour’s sake.
It normally favors the big parties and thats why they did nothing about it. It’s undemocratic. Makes some votes more valuable than others.
FPP.FFP is a completely different system that only exists in my head.

I predicted we would lose at least twenty in a reply to him.
But never this.
The good thing about nightshifts and early bevvying is I’ll be able to forget about it all by lunchtime.
Until the morra,by which time I’ll be more concerned about Sunday and our team.

What the hurting Labour supporters on this blog fail to acknowledge is that even if the Labour Party had retained all its seats in Scotland the result would have still been the same – victory for David Cameron and the Tories.
###
Perhaps.
But only if you discount totally the electoral effect of the reciprocal growth in English nationalism in response to the rise in Scottish nationalism.
Cameron seized on that and used it to his advantage.
Populist nationalism is an easy route to go down. The difficulty is in controlling where it takes you.

Au contraire. I voted for her.
Can still make observations tho.

‘BEACHBALL SUNDAY II’
????
Keir Hardie’s phrase about poverty of expectation comes to mind.
We’ve won a not particularly strong league fairly comfortably. Fine, we did it. But it’s not a great achievement by Celtic’s standards.
New Balls please

@ernie
I agree. Cameron used the SNP as they key point in his campaign.
The problem with FPP is that it elects a party who it benefits. The last parliament was a once in a generation chance to change it with the Lib Dems in government. Unfortunately, the other option was the alternative voting system that nobody wants rather than PR.
UKIP have suddenly decided the system doesn’t work because it is not working to their advantage,
There was an opportunity to change from first past the post in 2011 – but they proposed alternative was defeated by 2 : 1. We still have FPTP because that’s what the voters decided.
timaloy. I’m not assuming anything, merely pointing out that there was a real opportunity for Labour to change the electoral system to a more democratic one from which there would have been no going back, and they are now suffering the consequences.
People like the late Robin Cook, who was a real and vociferous advocate for change, were dismissed as idealistic cranks by the mainstream in Labour.

Cameron to change the boundaries in England making it more likely that they’ll start the next election in a healthier position.ITV news. Oh dear!
SNP to call for FTP voting system?
BMCUWP
I was happy that there was a big shift in Scotland but even as a Yes voter I am far from elated the scale of the SNP win/Labour Collapse as that does not seem healthy in terms of the distribitution of seats.
Unequivocally unhappy about overall result. Grim everywhere. Enjoy your pint.

T’would be a good day for the SFA to do something sneaky like declare King fit & proper.
Ernie
Is that not the DUP?
There has not been a politician born who can’t put a spin on things.
Just heard Cameron proclaiming that the Tories held on in Scotland.
Farage oot!
Ernie
Sorry, it’s Al Murray is it not?
Farage fails – another resignation to come?
Neganon , no government has got their principlesright all the time. What party policy hit the nail on the head that made you decide that swung your vote?
Aaah. I love the smell of sour grapes in the morning.
A wee lament for any party who betray their core voter
1.vote with the Tories to push thro disability cuts
2.assure the Tories that Trident will be implemented
and this party do not believe they betrayed

Surely increasing the basic rate of income tax would drive more people into poverty. Also, how would this tackle the need for food banks when it’s the Uk gov in charge of social security?
BT..,
I expect you’ll be looking for another job soon, first cuts will make sure there is little opposition to the benefits cuts that means removing any obstacles that demand justice.

” This result has many implications for Europe..Having opened the Pandora’s Box of English Nationalism, Cameron will find it impossible to put it back in its box.The eurosceptics will now apply enormous pressure re leaving the European Union .If that happens the thousands and thousands of Italians living and working in the UK will have a big problem.Likewise the thousands and thousands of UK citizens living and working in Europe will have a big problem.”
