Ronny’s fuel for next four months

1674

There would have been no surprise reading Ronny Deila’s ‘heaven and hell’ season in the Celtic View.  It must have been an enthralling season for the manager but, good grief, it started with an 8.6 on the Strachan Early Season Scale.

These experiences mark us.  We’ve watched footballers and managers grow weary (another word for lazy) in the past, as their early groundwork waned during good times, but memories like Legia or Maribor will inform every decision Ronny Deila makes for the next four months.  He needs to use that ‘Never again’ month as fuel right now.

Did you sign the petition yesterday to demand the Scottish Government repeal their ill-conceived nonsense of a law which the entire country outside of Holyrood, and a few elites at Police Scotland, know is an abomination?  If not, here’s your chance.

You do not understand the post colonial economics of the 60’s and 70’s.

Inflation was building due to the Vietnam war expansion and the newly independent countries upping the price of their raw materials.

On the UK front you then had the Barber boom of 71/72.

Quickly followed by the oil shortage and price hike.

HW got this series of hospital passes when he got into government in 1974.

The 25.6% inflation was nothing to do with him.

He was left holding the baby and trying to get the country back to work.

The deficit scare of 76 was a treasury concoction to try and put JC off his stride before North Sea Oil arrived to save the day.

There were cuts introduced — investment in the main — but not Chicago school slash and burn. Quickly made up over the next two years.

One issue to think about …

When was BS and BAe nationalised?

Would that have been part of any Chicago school Slash and Burn agenda?

I think not but good to hear your thoughts?

    re Pat Doherty,

I stand corrected mate i am thinking of his cousin Pat who used to do the Glasgow-Donegal

bus route in early 70s form Carrigart and of good republican stock also :-)

hope yir well and Happy birthday, get yourself down to the Dun gloe bar for a pint :-)

  3. I do suspect that the Labour/SNP scare (‘Project Fear II’) helped swing votes to the Tories. I think that Miliband handled this very badly indeed. He allowed the Tories to dictate the issue, when he could have said that he will work according to the Cabinet Manual, drawn up by the Tories in 2010, which states that a government will be formed by those who can command a majority in the House “What’s that Dave, you draw up the rules than change them when they don’t suit you? Didn’t they teach you respect for the rules at Eton?”). Change the focus of the issue, instead he backed himself into a corner. He could also have said that he would not deal with the SNP on anything which threatens the integrity of the UK. Ed’s problem was that everyone knew he would have to deal with the SNP in a minority situation.

Still (and I write this as an independence supporter), this is no way to preserve a Union.

  4. I thought Ed Miliband;s resignation speech was very good. Dignified yet passionate. Taking responsibility for defeat yet promising to be part of the fight in the future. He looked like a leader.

Nick Clegg’s was much more self serving. Continuing the line that the coalition was something they had to do. And not something that he and his circle chose to do.

    we differ.

.I repeat we would not have been given an IMF bail out if we did not adhere to the parameters of the structural adjustment part of the loan-monetarist policies.

its good to see it was not Labours fault then, and as i say it wont be Labours fault the country rejected them yesterday, its everyone elses.
