  1. CultsBhoy - Believes in Brendan on

I’m deriving a degree of perverse satisfaction from Don Robertsons exposed blatant cheating. Other than the likes of Derek Johnston nobody not even the most ardent Celtic hating Hun can put up any kind of defence of this decision. We all know diving is endemic and Celtic are not immune to it among our own players butId say 99% of this cheating is carried out in circumstances where there is at least a smidgeon of contact to creat at least a shred of doubt. Thos like yesterday where there is clear daylight between the players inevitable result in a yellow or the cheats.

You’ve got to admire Don Robertson for at least having the cajones to wantonly award that penalty in full knowledge that he will be exposed as a cheat. It is probably a long term career move. He will be castigated and demoted in the short term but he has in the longer term proven himself to the brotherhood. He will rise quickly.

More immediately it at least reminds us and Brendan in particular what we face and I suspect the intensity of this biased hatred will increase as we home in on the possibility of a treble and an unbeaten season.. Expect some desperate moves by referees in the next few games. However Don Robertson may have played the card too soon. All referee decisions next Sunday are under the spotlight even more as a result of yesterday.

Brendan and Peter Lawwell need to be very vocal in setting out Celtics unwillingness to accept this prejudice in the coming week.

  2. deary me,a lot of very mixed up,irate, thick as pig sh!t huns on Munter Media this morning.Telling the world how bad a player Broony is,and it does not matter if he plays or not, then 9 pages of bile about him,and outrage that he will play.

The best is the post on Craig White, who they claim has opened a Twitter account to report on his court case.As if.The title is wonderful.

    Entrepreneur.Business Turnaround Specialist.Or in short,EBTS.

A bit like The Trotters business title,Trotters Independent Traders.

Are we bringing back John Reid?

  4. I can be included in the clique that believes Scott Brown is our most influential player. I thoughtI was aware of all his many qualities but he has now shown that he has a Machiavellian foresight as well !

His tackle gave the ref the opportunity to wield a red and he duly obliged. Little did he know that our very aware Captain already knew the ` consequences`:

    He would NOT miss the important Cup Semi-final;

    Brendan was obviously going to rest Broonie;

    The extended ban, owing to us appealing, will give Scott his well earned;

He has increased the luminosity of the spotlight on next week`s ref.

Well done to our far-sighted Skipper !

Morning Bhoys well we were shown yesterday why going through this season unbeaten is most unlikekly never mind ten in a row.The cheating has been going on for years and we have been unable to get a level playing field I have no idea how we can stop it other than ensure we are so far ahead in our play that all the cheating cannot stop us.Yesterday we played at walking pace until the subs came on then we upped the tempo we should play at a higher tempo from the start as much as I like Brendan he is not perfect playing Forrest before Paddy s just not a clever decision and Mc Greggor before Sparky when Sparky is fit is in my opinion another poor decision but none of us are perfect. H.H.

I can’t remember who the ref was in the Di Canio honest mistake in 96-97, Willie Young maybe? Anyway my cousin was at a business funding meeting in City Chambers the next day. He stood in the company of what was obviously a wee gathering of the wash hand basins, including said MIB, and heard another guy ask him loud and clear, ‘how on earth did you get away with not giving that stonewaller yesterday?’.. To which the reply was..’ you can’t expect me to send off the Rangers captain at Ibrox’.

    Gospel truth my friends.

  7. weebobbycollins on

Does Don Robertson wake up this morning sniggering or cringing with embarrassment?

What a pair of effing wallies, he and his linesman. If he did cheat, then it has backfired I think. He will certainly be demoted for this ridiculous ‘honest mistake’ and I’m pleased Brendan has spoken out. Wee willie winkie will wonder whether it’s wise to show how ‘fair’ he is next weekend…

Possibly the worst collection of referees in world football-thanks to Hugh Dallas and John Fleming.

  8. I just hope BR can see the difference Paddy makes to the team. How many times has his flashes of brilliance won,or turned around games. This nonsense about playing James”Because he is our player”is just that.If you have the tools, use them.I thought we were dire yesterday until Paddy came on.Moussa had no service whatsoever.Too intent on playing keep ball across the back and middle, with very little end product up front. The way to beat packed defences is wingers getting behind them and cutting the ball back at pace.We just played across the front of them as we have been doing in a lot of games.

  9. HAMPDEN OFFICIALS FOR SUNDAY

    Referee: William Collum

Assistant Referees: Frank Connor and Douglas Ross

    Fourth Official: Craig Thomson

    AAR1: Don Robertson

    AAR2: Nick Walsh

  10. I think the biggest disappointment about yesterday was the fact that the game was on Sky and not BT. First up Sky’s low energy / low rent coverage is not up to the job of reporting on a Juniors game but add in a bit of controversy and they can only respond with platitudes and certainties — no chance of debate, insight and understanding.

So we were repeatedly told that SB’s tackle was a red card — stonewaller, certainty, no issue

Nothing about the fact that there have been one thousand worse tackles in the SPL this season and we have not had a thousand players sent off.

The graphic on KDS last night with 4 incidents summed the situation up nicely.

And yet we have to put up with the compromised intellectual Pygmy that is NMcC to comment on the game plus the complete sell out that is AW.

The whole programme had the feeling of end of term filler.

The quicker we get shot of Sky the better.

They are so focused on a TFOD2 agenda that it infects them from top to bottom.

From the games played with the sound levels to the choice of panellists they are rank rotten.

  11. After yesterday’s events, so bad they made the BBC Main News Sports Bulletin, Sunday’s referee is going to need eyes in the back of his head.

    So no problem there then.

  12. Back to the game — we were poor.

Took our foot of the gas when we got the second goal.

We always were going to need a third as the MIB were up for an honest mistake.

At least it is on film.

At least we have the RC tackle that got a yellow on record.

  13. Embramike

    From that excellent article.

“Nothing would surprise me in the corrupt realm of Scottish football”.

JohnJames has certainly got that right!

  14. WC @ 10.34

Have to disagree — their choice of song was poor and a bit self indulgent.

They seemed to be singing from a very well worn hym sheet and they did not respond to events on the park.

They = self selecting, small tribe of uber fans who need a break from their travels.

    They phoned it in yesterday.

  15. JJ seems to have his finger on the pulse.

I think we are being offered — in plain site — a choice of a treble or an unbeaten league campaign.

They — the Ludge infested cohort of SPL referees — will do their utmost to make sure we don’t get both.

You have to wonder — is this down to bias or a need to keep the gambling industry happy?

  16. Bada Bing ( from ages ago )

For me there are two distinct aspects to what happened yesterday there was cheating proven by TV footage, and rounded condemnation of the player even from SKY with its skewed agenda and employees.

No problem? terrible decision, referee conned, Schalk’s name goes to the compliance officer, Brown banned whoop de doo.

Celtic supporters believe that stops short of what happened, and the last time something vaguely similar did ‘We’ / Celtic wrote a letter to the SFA ‘for an explanation’. That was the last we heard of it, ever again.

There have been numerous almost weekly flashpoints this season whilst we strolled to the league title Celtic did not communicate with the fans, and are therefore complicit in an existing situation.

An accumulation of grievances, ( so what we’re winning ?) then yesterdays fiasco and the resultant supporter angst is partly Celtic’s fault, because the club does not communicate with the support and remain silent witnesses.

Align Celtic with the Celtic supporters.

  17. Weebobbycollins

    “If he cheated”

Good to see you at least entertaining the possibility that a young, ambitious referee, knowing the match is being shown live nationwide, would still cheat.

  18. WC @ 10.43

The away support is not the club.

The singing section of the away support is definitely not the club.

I was not there, I was not involved.

I was just disappointed at the choice of song.

We should not sing about 10 unless it is celebration of WW — I am old enough to remember the 70’s and the “fly the flag” debacle.

We should not sing about militarism or recruitment drives for any fighting force.

Those that do just show up their immaturity and their need for clearasil.

    CULTSBHOY,

Don’t know if Robertson is in the Craft or not but he’s an ex -pupil of St Ninians in Giffnock.

That’s according to a good few posters on the Huddleboard.

P67 has sold us out big time.

The adverts are not very well integrated.

For somebody with his background he isn’t very good at the day job.

  21. No complaints from me about Brown’s tackle. He could have wrecked the guy’s ankle.

The penalty was an absolute joke.

  23. PTB @ 11.07

    Stop blaming yourself.

The issue relates to the fact that the tackle is not a red card in the SPL.

It is only a red card when the player is wearing green and white.

  24. “Today Robertson will take charge of the Scottish Cup fifth-round tie between Spartans and Berwick, where he will become one of the first Scottish refs to use the new vanishing foam spray that is being rolled out across our game.”

Didn’t know it worked on tackles as well!
