Samaras astonishing journey

557

Georgios Samaras journey over the last twelve months has been astonishing.  The player was subject to treatment by those who enjoying booing at the football and suffered the indignity of being subject to an exchange at last year’s AGM which must have made it difficult to rebuild confidence and form.

Now he is the most effective man in the team.  He was involved in six out of Celtic’s eight Champions League qualifier goals.  He has found his position, wide on the left, where he scores and creates more goals than he ever did as part of a forward two.  The space on the wing allows those long legs to stretch and get behind defenders.

I’m not paying too much attention to the scare stories which emerged from Latvia last night following his elbow injury, we will need to wait on the results of a scan to know the extent of the damage, but there is modest alarm ahead of our opening Champions League group game against Benfica in 11 days.

They can have NEIL when he’s 90 ………. Now wouldn’t that be a revelation …..LLOOLL..!!!!

  2. Someone should phone up a phone in and suggest Neil Lennon as Scotland manager (pretending to be serious).

    That would cause meltdown.

    Hee hee.

Of course the MSM are turning against Levein now. It is their duty what with no surname and dignity Eck out of work. Do agree though he is out of his depth.

God rest all the mothers who have gone. The hardest workers on the planet.

Was in the family section and there was no anti-celtic sentiment at all. In fact Forrest got a rousing reception when he came on, which surprised me as I thought there would be grumbling as it wasn’t Rhodes coming on.

Sevco fans boycott obviously removes the bulk if any potential ant-Celtic feeling among the tartan army.

  12. …would a technical, Andy Roxbrugh-type appointment as Scotland boss not be the best of two bad options?

‘The Cat an’ Cardigan’ are surely disbarred by association to the Edmiston Pyramid Scheme?

  13. A long time ago it seems now, a wise friend of mind said when I asked him how I would cope with a big loss, ” Some things you never get over. You adjust.” That helped me,at least,in that I did not have to “get over it” and/ or “move on”, but I could absorb the loss, and over time, come to terms with it.

God Bless to all who have had major losses in their lives.

The other victory was Lithuania, by the way (1-0 at home).

Disagree with folk here about Strachan – don’t think the SFA would have a problem. Why would Stuart Regan, for example, have a grudge against the ginger helmsman? I note, too, that the majority of anecdotal diatribes against huns in Scotland tops emanate from the 1970s. Know your history, but accept that times change.

Levein has embedded himself into the Hampden scenery by being part of the grass roots changes there – that’s the reason he’ll be difficult to shift.

  15. ….and when I say “Andy Roxburgh – type”…………..

…..I do so while prescribing that any such appointment strictly adheres to suitably qualified candidates who conform to normal human characteristics in terms of…………….. ‘average cranial dimensions’

The ole cash strapped scrofulous hillbillies have been up to their ole tricks, with their ‘Crossbar Challenge’ and their expensively assembled squad of Galacto-diddies.

Every day I have to take a detour past Galabank [probably the most scenic ground in Scotland] just to read the sign that says ‘NEXT HOME MATCH v Hillbillies’.

Hamilton Tim- the Simon of Cyrene CSC that are such a feature of CQN have done a grand job, for which I’m genuinely grateful.

  22. I can’t afford to buy the CL package this month as l don’t have the £144.00 3 match package + £110 DD season ticket payment for my son and me.

I went to the ticket office today to see if l could buy a single match ticket for the CL . I was told that l could not buy a single match. That there was no plan as yet to sell single games as they were going to offer season ticket holders the opportunity to buy extra 3 game packages for people who aren’t ST holders, and if these sell out the ground there would e that my son and l will not get to any of the games.

I would hope that Celtic will offer individual tickets to the CL games for season ticket holders before offering them on the same basis to non ST holders.

I expect that there will be tickets left on a game by game basis for you and your son.

  24. hamiltontim

    I hope so too.

As l knew money was going to be tight. I thought about not getting a st this year go to some games and hope to pick up CL games. I could have not bought a st, went to say 8 games per season and had money to buy the CL games. Instead l put my money into to club via st.

I will rethink this next year if the money situation is the same.

    Thanks for your concern bud.

  25. Celticbhoy

work commitments mean that the only game I could get to was the Barca game. As of Friday that pleasure has been denied me as a meeting in London has been re-arranged for that day, not a happy Bhoy!

I had expected the sales procedure to go that way, they did that with matches aginst that lot last season.

Like HT I still expect there to be a good few available on a game by game basis, may not be the best seats though. If we sell 40,000 3 match packages I would expect that another 5,000 to come in for more at the ST price, that still leaves a decent lot available.

BTW is the “cat in the hat” McLeish? I see and hear he has gone global in raising his profile in the last week. He`s a knobhead.
