Georgios Samaras journey over the last twelve months has been astonishing. The player was subject to treatment by those who enjoying booing at the football and suffered the indignity of being subject to an exchange at last year’s AGM which must have made it difficult to rebuild confidence and form.
Now he is the most effective man in the team. He was involved in six out of Celtic’s eight Champions League qualifier goals. He has found his position, wide on the left, where he scores and creates more goals than he ever did as part of a forward two. The space on the wing allows those long legs to stretch and get behind defenders.
I’m not paying too much attention to the scare stories which emerged from Latvia last night following his elbow injury, we will need to wait on the results of a scan to know the extent of the damage, but there is modest alarm ahead of our opening Champions League group game against Benfica in 11 days.

!!bada bing!!
Levein was cheated out of a league cup win by kenny clark, with a few honest mistakes, to help the myth win a trophy.
Only a few weeks before the mccurry honest mistakes at ibrokes in the league.
The disgusting thing about kenny clarks cheating was that the Dundee Utd chairmen ( Eddie Thomson ?) was seriously ill watching from the stands.
Goals on Sunday just called eck ‘EBT’ mcliesh, one of the huns most successful managers??
Every game a 3-0 defeat…successful??
Happy 4th. Oscar!
Craig Burley isn`t without critics here but I had to agree with his article in the Sunday Mail today. Scotland players Hutton and Naismith were lucky that the ref wasn`t on his game yesterday. Naismith was fortunate that the officials didn`t see his actions but the Hutton tackle was a red card every day of the week.

Sorry to hear you can’t get either. l hope there will be single games too and my son and l are able to sit together. All the best bud.
Many happy returns to wee Oscar!
Good luck with the bone marrow test.
I work outside and call it coincidence but I went through this period where I’d be thinking about my mother and I noticed everytime it happened near me there would be one of those wee willy wagtail birds duking about watching me,daft I know but I always went on to think about something else perked up,uncanny it was,now I tend to dream about her often which is something else which gives the sense that she’ll always be there or thereabouts, after a while you stop having the pain of the loss but in some way or another she’s always there like she always is.
Happy Birthday Oscar!
My son and l will be shaking those buckets at the Dundee game on the 22nd for you. Your a star wee man!
A very happy 4th birthday Oscar!
YNWA!
HH!!
I’ll keep Jobo and DJBEE in my thoughts over the coming days.
Agent Craig-I remember Clark coming out with the “nobody felt worse than me….blah blah” line after denying the most stonewall penalty.HH
Eck McLeish squirming in his chair as Ben Shepherd grills him about EBT’s. Eck comes out with the stock answer which evades the question…’they wont get my medals off me’. Like McCann and Dodds, he goes on about nothing illegal being done but still looked nervous and fidgety. Kamara then praises the Sevco support so I suppose all is forgiven regarding their demolition of Manchester four years ago.
hh
MWD – hope the wee man has a great day today. The bone marrow test doesn’t sound very nice, but he’s a brave wee soul.
T4
it’s easy to praise the ole Sevconians when you don’t have to live with them.
Desperately hoping Celtic don’t sell individual game tickets. They’ll sell out the Barca game and have empty seats for the other two.
there’s not much better in life than your son beating a team whose manager was wearing an RFC*(dead) shirt.
On Scotland the Scared:
We need a change of philosophy, maybe not back to the Ally Macleod days but just a bit more cavalier. Around 55/60 minutes I could see Kenny Miller was struggling but the subs did not appear until it was too late to impact. Even Levein said he was a bit late and that is the sign of too much caution. It is the attitude that is wrong plus technical ability. Those players cannot have Touch phones, they would keep dropping them.
apart from seeing the last celtic rangers which we won 3 – 0
The other day it was Peters and Lee………..
And now, well it’s Peter, Paul and Mary!!!!
The stuff that meanders through what is left of my grey matter whilst perusing CQN………..
Away back into the sala to partake in/of a pint or two of Sangria with Mrs TBM…….. Sangria??????………. Aye, seriously, it was all they had in the wee shop across the road and seeing as I had managed to finish of whatever was left in the ‘booze ref’……..That will have to do before I go…….. No quite a wee ‘Doc and Doris’…..Whoever ‘they wur’ but they were always tanning my old Da’s stash for sure before they done a runner………
Anyways, unlikely I will be on CQN for a wee while; busy, busy, busy……….
BMCUW, if you are looking in; will call you in a day or two…………
Ravi; see you Tuesday……….
Thoughts and prayers with all who have suffered the loss of God’s sainted touchstone………..
Regards & Hail Hail

My condolences on the loss of your mother and my thanks for that bottle of vino you sneaked into the bag you returned the book in.
DBBIA my condolences also.

The only reason l am looking to buy a single game is l can’t afford the 3 match deal, if l could l would. l put my money into season ticket to support the club all season. But people who can afford it but aren’t st holders can get to the games via friends who are. So what do l do next year not buy a st next year for me and my son and look to cherry pick league games and have the money for the CL packages.
Happy Birthday to Wee Oscar , always in our thoughts and prayers.
Celticbhoy
I can sell you 1 adult ticket for benfica if that helps. Similar financial circumstances so I can only go to the spartak match. Get my email address via paul67 if you are interested.
S
DBBIA,
I must accept some responsibility for our game being moved from the Sunday.
My daughter is getting married on the Saturday, so I asked Neil if he would mind shifting the game from the Saturday.
I wasn’t so lucky in getting the Barca game moved, as I will be stuck in the Airport Hotel in Belfast and you can’t bank on it being shown there.
I also heard that our league game was moved because the scrofbillies were at home on the Saturday too.
The thing is guys for 20 years at least the Scottish National team have been steadily playing more negative and boring football in an effort “not to be beaten”.
It’s a manual thing.
Since Roxburgh Scotland have been managed by
Craig Brown
Berti Vogts
Walter (the Myth)
The Cat in the Hat
George (I’ll leave out 6 Rangers players for one midweek game who will miraculously all be fit 2 days later because Rangers are at home to Celtic on Saturday and invent a reason to send Barry Robson home to make it look like there is no bias) Burley
Craig Levein
ALL of them tried the same tired anti-football that has seen Scotland plummet.
In fairness to the Cat in the hat he almost got them to Euro 2008 but messed up the last two games.
The rest have played teams with 6 or 7 defenders or defensive players in a side at a time.
Now the arguments always thrown up are:
We aren’t good enough to leave ourselves exposed at the back
We don’t have players who can score goals
We have to keep our shape.
This is all total garbage.
Currently Scotland have a lot of attacking football players –
James Forrest – gets 15-20 minutes
Kris Commons – not picked because we have better players apparently
Shaun Maloney – intelligent but doesn’t play
Robert Snodgrass – played very well I thought
Ross McCormack – scored a good goal in the last game and then not put on.
Charlie Adam – can produce better but needs to stop hogging the ball.
Jonny Russell – not in the squad
Gary Mackay-Steven – injured but not in any squad yet Ian Black gets a call up
Steven Fletcher – we know why
Matt Phillips – better than Kris Commons apparently but doesn’t feature
Jordan Rhodes – exciting and a goalscorer – 10 minutes
Jamie Mackie – playes in the best league in the world (apparently) but is mobile and decent
Steven Naismith (who should have been sent off) – garbage yesterday AGAIN
Kenny Misser who lived back up to his title yesterday – he was RUBBISH AGAIN
From that little lot above Scotland should be making a system to accommodate attacking flair players.
The Scotland midfield could be far more attacking
If he wants 5 players in there it can still be attacking if we look at that list from above we DO have attacking players – SO PLAY THEM LEVEIN
Yet it appears to be genetic that Scotland do not try this.
At the moment Scotland have as good a group of players in most positions as I can remember them having and yet we get the same old tired figures cutting about doing nothing.
Change the formation and/or the personnel otherwise we will have boring anti-football where we need big strong guys to win when wee skillful guys is the new thing in modern football or big guys with ability not halfing ability.
Both Hutton and Naismith should have been sent off AND Berra should have given away a penalty at the start. The ref was a tube and had he been on game they’d have been off – was he related to (insert usual blind eye at former Rangers players’ antics here) ?
Scotland for me are out already but in order to move forward we need a manager who knows what he is doing and an acceptance that we are not going to get to this World Cup and Euro 2014 should be the aim right now. Get as many points on the board as we can in this campaign and try and move up a pot to give ourselves a better chance of a better draw than this nightmare draw.
