There’s some fresh enthusiasm in Lanarkshire this morning with the appointment of Englishman Ian Baraclough as Motherwell manager. Baraclough had a couple of successful years with Sligo Rovers from 2012-14, winning their first title in decades, before things fell apart this year, but his role as a scout for Huddersfield over the last six months is likely to interest Motherwell as much.
Motherwell directors have had a long-term tradition when looking for a manager of saying they want someone ‘plugged into’ the scouting and agent network. This game is all about the right contacts, you don’t get to acquire a promising Blackburn Rovers reserve (as Motherwell once did), but this particular activity is also very competitive.
The small matter of how to deploy players is, of course, equally important, but if you’re Motherwell, Celtic or Barcelona, that call is a shot in the dark.
I watched newco Rangers for the first time last night, although I ended up watching a lot more Queen of the South than I expected. The latter, each of them journeymen, were excellent, the former were symptomatic of everything that’s wrong with comfortably well-off footballers. Newco’s medium-term future, if they have one, will be to spend the next few years building a self-sustaining lower league club, capable of winning promotion and remaining a top-flight football team thereafter.
Get along to Celtic Park early tomorrow, Davie Hay will be signing copies of Caesar & the Assassin in the Superstore. If you ask him nicely he’s promised to sign your CQN Annual too. Don’t forget your camera!
Also remember to look out for the Foundation bucketeers as you approach the ground or enter the turnstiles. My boys and me will be at the North Stand, turnstiles 1-13, say hello if you’re around.
Thanks to everyone who donated to Mary’s Meals yesterday, the response was overwhelming. Emails went out this morning to winners of the Magners’ tickets.
You can order your CQN Annual here, or get a special Annual-DVD bundle here.
As a special offer, everyone who buys an Annual, or bundle, before Christmas will be entered into a prize draw for a VIP Meal of 4 at a Celtic Park restaurant on a match day. One entry for each Annual bought; pile in.

That’s my selection too; stronger midfield defensively and better platform for attack.
HH
No way in hell McGregor is on £12k a week, don’t be so daft.
The knives really are being sharpened for him, who’s be a Celtic youth these says with backing like this.

I would take a Sheep win as we have already beaten them at the Pen:))
And we have Jackies Utd next week and I would rather have them 7 behind us:)
That makes sense starry. Partick are tearing ICT a new one. Currently 4 nil.
Roy C
We could continue with the 4,2,3,1
Biton and Henderson, the 2 ?
Brown , ? ? ? , Johansen, part of the 3
You then have 2 wide players who would work in support of front line, defence and midfield
the_huddle, That was put up the other night by a very good source.
I will support our youth, but will also be realistic, and he ain’t got it for us, imho
I want to see Celtic improve, would love it with home grown, and would rather that than some of the dross we have been getting recently
Hail Hail
Great day for the Harry wrags in santas grotto
Dear Nye Bevan,
Alas my love is unrequited and I seek your advice. For what feels like whatever I have courted someone on an blog. There are times when I feel we get on well but the object of my affections seems to have a poor and in many ways I feel it is undeserved. I frequent celtic park probably as much as they do, I post when we win but am told I dont. I am regularly baited by many where we post but it seems on the few occasionsmi have responded angrily I can no longer react.
I realise it’s probably pointless but it seems a shame. I am so misunderstood..
Looks like Celtic will have the chance to go 6 points clear tomorrow.

Starry making sense it’ll never catch on:))
Mon Glasgow’s second team…

You are also more than welcome to meet us at CQN Coarner
Might even get a Hug from Big Jamesgang, Weefra and Dena29, every chance you might even get one from BCW :-)
You won’t want one from Doc :-)
Hail Hail
Tom, I think 4 is the target, at moment looks like Sheepies will be 2nd.
Dear BCW.
In all honesty I think you find yourself in a abusive co-dependent
relationship with neggers,it may be best for you to move on.
As for neggers flirtations with other poster’s,he clearly has had
his heart broken in the past, maybe on some political blog,he is
in need of therapy so he can move on with his life.

If I’m right in saying our highest wage is £25k a week, maybes it’s less now with the cost cutting. And McGregor was on I guess £1k a week in his last contract then I’d say at most he’s getting £8k a week.

Mon the Hoops:))
Liam Henderson being well managed in my opinion, don’t see any Vendettas at Paradise!
Hibs 2-0 up
If dons win they move onto 31ptsalong with Dundee utd
ICT lose 32pts
Accies win 30pts
HOOOOOOOOOOOPS win 38pts 6 clear
Corkcelt –
Not sure what you mean.
Current top 4 as follows:
Celtic 35 points
ICT 32
Dundee U 31
Aberdeen 28
ICT & Dundee U lose and Aberdeen win. Aberdeen go to 31 points, 4 behind Celtic. So a Celtic win tomorrow puts us 6 ahead of ICT and 7 ahead of both Dundee United & Aberdeen.
His two up and when Griffo joins them in January we should see the new teams inevitable slide down the table:))
* Hibs*

That is exactly the figure I had in my head, Maximum
Thank you for reply and yon Starry fhella:))))
Apologies Tom, You are correct looked up the table online and didn’t cop that the clever buggers were actually updating the table in real time. They had already credited the Sheepies with the 3 points for today’s match.
Wouldn’t mind seeing Kilmarnock going down
Mind you
Wouldn’t bother if it was Motherwell either
Leigh Griffiths getting a start tomorrow. I hope he bags a hat-trick.

£8k still seems to high but we all know how stupid clubs are in giving contracts these days :O)
Leftclicktic & the_huddle
I also think that would nearer the mark as well, still don’t think he is worth anywhere near it though
Serious Question
When do they stop being classed as a young player ? 22 ?
Hail Hail

I really don’t get the rationale behind loan signings like Wakaso and Berget. The diamonds we have discovered really mask the inadequacies of our recruitment process.
There has been so much money wasted on loan players and poor centre forwards. Where has it got us? if our Academy cannot produce players better than Berget and Wakasso then it’s time for a rethink.

really good to hear that. Show them Griff!

Messi, Rooney were playing top level football at 16 if you aint playing every week by 21 then you aren’t going to make it at the very top.
At SPL the age should in theory be lower but 21 seems a good number for the cut off.

Mourinho said in midweek that the Chelsea academy costs £8mill a year to run and if it can’t produce first team players then they might as well scrap it and spend the money on transfers.
He then gave the latest super kid from the academy 4 minutes playing time in a dead rubber game.
Someone on RM has sussed it…..
In 2012 a group of men got together with a business model.
The model was to buy the assets of Rangers, raise as much money as possible via season tickets, gate receipts and floatation on the stock market and then take as much money as possible out of the club as quickly as possible and f@@k off. Money via obvious methods and some more complex 3rd party methods.
All parties including McCoist have performed their roles very well and can be considered a financial success in terms of their chosen business model. What appeared to be incompetence is in fact total competence when you realise what their goals have always been.

Micktt –
That only applies where you are stopped in isolation, ie you have been pulled over by a police car that has followed you. In that case they need to have a reason to breathalyse you, eg you have been driving erratically, jumped a red light, have a faulty rear light etc.
I am talking about roadside checkpoints where multiple drivers are pulled over. In those circumstances they don’t need a reason to breathalyse you.

Does that mean they don’t have to read over that warning to you where it states the words suspect and require…
