SFA and SPL subverting due process

268

Various people have demanded an explanation as to why executives at the SPL and SFA proposed to fast-track disciplinary procedures against Rangers and rubber-stamp access for their successor club into the Scottish Football League First Division.

There are two possible scenarios for this:

Rangers are guilty as sin, everyone knows it, results achieved by illegally registered players will be void and a severe punishment would be due.  If subject to due process, punishment from independent commission could be expulsion from the SFA.  “Powerful forces” at the SFA and SPL tried their best to protect Rangers’ successor club.

Or

Rangers are innocent of the charge.  This was an attempt to impose an inappropriate punishment on their successor club when they were vulnerable.

Neither explanation is satisfactory.

Sir David Murray, who was on the board which authorised remuneration during the period 2000-2011, when the unregistered second contracts were allegedly used, has categorically denied these contracts exist.  Earlier this year The Sun produced a redacted second contract and the BBC documentary into the club claims to have seen dozens of second contracts worth tens of millions of pounds.

Next month we will discover the true situation.  For the record, Celtic, nor any individual at the club, were not involved in any meetings, telephone conversations or emails discussing or promoting this accommodation.  The plan was also not put to the SFA board or the SPL board.

As we have noted before, if Sir David Murray is mistaken on the conduct of the former Rangers board, the toxicity attached to this SFA ‘franchise’ makes it untenable.

On other matters:

Spartak Moscow players Jurado and Romulo were both injured at the weekend and will miss the visit of Celtic next week.

  2. Jabba still doesn’t get it—the game benefits when rules are adhered to. That piece of drivel posing as journalism wouldn’t pass a GCSE journalistic test. The Gospel according to Jabba–I say it so it must be so. As for Guidi—how do these people get jobs? The threat of an Orc “backlash” is hot air. When these people are confronted they melt away like snow off a ditch, or criticism off a Scottish SPL referee’s back. It’s a diferent world from the time Belfast Celtic left football. Nowadays the internet has everyone informed.

I’m sure BBJ realises that useless wasn’t the only hun manager to buy in imposters, the difference though being that at least the managers before him had the good sense to buy half decent players that were incongruous to the league they played in.

Should the hearing into dual contracts result in the stripping of titles and cups, what in your opinion will be Celticplc’s next move.

Do you think they will go down the route of looking for financial compensation from the organisations and perpetrators of this cheating, and will other clubs within UEFA who have suffered due to them playing improperly registered players do likewise?

  14. Hey Mr Traynor and every other Sevco sympathiser out there, don’t try and play down the activities of RFCia and the SFA by trying to say it was some sort of innocent, trivial error, hardly worth all this fuss.

They knew exactly what they were doing. It was cold, calculated, systemmatic cheating.

They tried to con the HMRC and EVERY club they played against for over 10 years.

Expulsion, permanent expulsion is getting off lightly.

I am sure many of the participants will find themselves in a nice secure home soon enough…

  15. Raymac

The internet has everyone informed but the nature of media is that stories gain weight and credibility when mainstream media pick them up. One website repeating what was on another website is not enough.

This is why the work of Mark Daly and Alex Thomson has been so important in all of this.

Today, Scottish mainstream media just keeps pumping out the Sevco propaganda. Even people who dabbled with the truth, such as Roger Hannah (he it was who ran with the redacted side-letter that Paul refers to here) and Daryll whathisname, not Broadfoot, are right back on message.

If Sevco brings to the table the support of the deid club, it carries influence because greedy football administrators and greedy media executives smell money instead of putrefaction. Plus, some puppets in their organisations are part of that support and are as much in denial as their confreres.

They hope it will all go away. They hope they will wake up one day and Rangers won’t be dead. This is why they keep saying Sevco are Rangers. Maybe Sevco really are Rangers. I don’t think it’s ever been explained fully. The abysmal joint-statement from the SFL, the SPL, the SFA and Sevco from July 27 seems, somehow, to have become important, despite telling us nothing, especially not what bits of Rangers were transferring, what bits were not, who decided which bits were in and which were out, what basis they had and what authority they had for making the decisions and what Sevco has to do to claim the ‘prize’.

We have no clarity. Regan and Doncaster are silent and absent, although presumably still drawing a salary. Green says whatever he likes, apparently with complete impunity. We have to hope for good things to come from the work of Nimmo Smith and BDO, otherwise Sevco will continue to say it’s Rangers and more and more people inside and outside football will come just to accept that it’s true. And then where will we be? What really will have changed?

  17. It seems impossible to me that the SPL/SFA after investigating this situation for a number of months would fail to turn up the same evidence that appeared on RTC or on the Beeb Documentary or with Channel 4’s Alex Thomson. All of that evidence as we all know is damning and quite simply the SFA/SPL wouldn’t even countenance removing titles if there was not strong enough evidence to do so in the first place.

Why else would they put it in writing?

    For a laugh?

Because Peter Lawwell told them to?

Because we all know the SFA are so pro-Celtic and anti-Rangers?

That is the realm of genuine paranoia as the SFA/SPL did their best to get them back into as high a league as possible and these revelations (although known anyway months ago) do not tally with the MSM narrative of Poor Rangers (they are poor rangers in financial terms though – hee hee).

    Words like

    secret

    plot

    hatch

    dossier

    Kangaroo court

    Witch hunt

make it sound like the Iraq war dossier and the aim is so obvious it is shameless. Language always gives you away.

The bottom line is without evidence there’s no way such a proposal would even have been in the draft document which never made it into a full unilateral agreement so it was void anyway.

The pot stirring is obvious as is its purpose.

I don’t read them. I just get reports of them. All they are are vehicles for $#1£€ and stuff about orange neds.

But it’s helpful to know what they are up to as they continue in Himmlerian scale to spout the kinda claptrap Goebells would have admired.

Btw, there is a physical resemblance between Himmler and Chico, Goring and Jabba. Maybe reincarnation is not so farfetched after all.

Our avenue for this would be the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) which is the international arbitration body set up to settle disputes related to sport.

No one here, in my acquaintance, gives a toss. If I were to start explaining it all to them, I would quickly observe a glassy stare starting to develop.

And I’ve tried. And quickly given up. The story doesn’t cross the border very well.

Now…..if ManUre or Chelski were to go belly up………

  30. In keeping with Moisty’s claims to name names, let’s hope the EBT commission names and details everyone involved in this scandal.

The public deserves to know every nitty gritty detail.

Maybe then the Sevconians will finally face up the rampant corruption which has artificially maintained their club old or new, for many, many years.

  31. I think we sometimes get caught up in our wee CQN bubble, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

However, the fact remains that the majority of Celtic supporters still find out most of their Celtic related information from the MSM.
