Sinclair will respond overwhelmingly

563

I won’t tell you Scott Sinclair has not experienced racism until the last year, but I suspect it is highly unlikely he has had to endure the vitriolic abuse he has gone through as a Celtic player anywhere in England. He must be wondering what century he travelled to when encountering the kind of ‘people’ who celebrate their racism.

Yesterday his name and a racist slogan was pinned to a bonfire in Belfast. Humanity is weaker as a consequence.

Scott will travel to that town on Friday to play for Celtic, a game his team-mates will ensure goes the right way. What I can tell you about Scott, is that he will respond with overwhelming drive in the season ahead. Specifically, he will rip the turf up at Ibrox in September.

  5. CELTIC are delighted to announce that Olivier Ntcham has joined the club on a four-year deal from Manchester City.

The highly-rated French midfielder is considered to be one of the most exciting young talents in football, and will be a great addition to Brendan Rodgers’ treble-winning Invincibles squad.

The 21-year-old joined Manchester City from French side, Le Havre, back in 2012, and has spent the past two seasons on loan at Serie A side, Genoa, where he made over 40 appearances for the club.

Now, Olivier has committed his future to Celtic and will link up with his fellow French Under-21 internationalist, Moussa Dembele, who enjoyed a very impressive first season with the Hoops, scoring 32 goals as the team secured the domestic treble without losing a single game.

Olivier joins Jonny Hayes and Kindai Benya as the new arrivals at Celtic in the close season, and speaking exclusively to the official Celtic website, Olivier Ntcham said: “It’s a nice feeling to be here at Celtic and I want to win everything at Celtic as I have never won a trophy before.

“I’m most looking forward to the derby and playing in the Champions League. I remember them beating Barcelona five years ago in the group stages. Not every club gets to play in this competition so I’m happy to have the chance to play there with Celtic.

“Celtic is fresh challenge for me. While Genoa are a good team, I knew they wouldn’t win Serie A as they were not a top team like Juventus, but I know Celtic are a big team in Scotland.”

Matching the fantastic feats of Brendan Rodgers’ side last season, when they clinched the treble and went through the entire league campaign unbeaten, will be a huge ask, but Ntcham is relishing that challenge.

“It’s always good to win the titles, and I hope we can win the trophies again and do even better than last season,” he added. “I am excited at the challenge of playing in the team.”

  19. Neil Lennon & McCartney on

NEW Bhoy Olivier Ntcham says the prospect of playing in Brendan Rodgers’ swashbuckling Celtic side persuaded him to join the Scottish treble-winners ahead of a host of big Italian teams.

The France Under-21 internationalist became the club’s third acquisition of the summer today (Wednesday) when he completed his move from Manchester City. And speaking exclusively to the official Celtic website, the attacking midfielder revealed how a chat with the Hoops boss convinced him that his future lay in Paradise.

“It was Brendan Rodgers who got me to come here,” Olivier said. “I had a lot clubs in Italy like Lazio, Torino and Inter who were interested, but when I spoke to Brendan I decided to come here.

“I liked the philosophy of Brendan as he always wants to play with the ball, and this is the way I like to play. I’m a powerful and technical player, and I had a coach before like this who always wanted to play and win the second ball. Brendan also talked about Moussa Dembele and how he came here and what he achieved over six months.

“I’m very happy to be here. I spoke to the manager, who welcomed me and said I made a good choice in coming here and how we’re going to work hard to achieve the targets of the team.

“I met my team-mates and I got a really nice welcome from them as well, and I would like to thank everyone for the way they have welcomed me to the club. I can’t wait to get started.”

  20. Says Hail Hail to Hector..and still believes in Brendan on

    Welcome Oliver.

I wonder if our new signing will get a mention on the burning pallets..he is black after all and maybe even a Catholic.

That would be a nice welcome.

I’m happy to see these things and even happier that our own support don’t stoop to any reciprocation. I’m a firm believer in giving idiots enough rope.

There is undoubtedly the prospect going forward that players of colour or religious belief ( any) will think better of being associated with a club that has such a support.

Meanwhile we expand our potential recruitment pool by not only being more successful but by being open to all.

Good luck to them with their inward looking ever decreasing circle approach to building their new club.
