“The appeal is dismissed.” With those words at the Supreme Court in London at 9:52 this morning, Rangers tax cheating was established as fact. The charlatans who manipulated Scottish football fans were shown to be the disgrace they are.
Rangers made unlawful payments, totalling many millions of pounds, to footballers, who, by the club’s own admission in court, they would have been unable to recruit if they had to pay tax and National Insurance contributions for.
They lied to HMRC.
They also hid documents from HMRC, which only came to light during a City of London Police raid on Ibrox.
They hid documents from the SPL and SFA, failing to honestly register dozens of players.
They cheated the tax man.
They cheated the welfare state, the NHS, the police, councils, schools. They cheated the Army and other services.
The SPL’s (now called Scottish Professional Football League) Commission into these matters must now be set aside. It was conducted on the assumption that Rangers acted legally. Lord Nimmo Smith was clear that his conclusions were predicated on this point. A fresh commission is required, we cannot just allow the biggest cheats in British sporting history wander off into the distance.
The SFA has failed to call Sir David Murray to account, or the other directors of Rangers, who had explicit responsibility to ensure the club acted within the laws of the land and within the rules of football, both of which it failed to do.
Murray should be sine died. God knows, I cherish every moment Dave King controls things at Ibrox, but he was a director of Rangers with legal responsibility for its actions. They should all be censured.

I should have said my family and I, but it’s down to the same thing, why hand over your hard earned to a rigged game, it’s now official, there is no disputing the fact, they cheated, end of, justice has to be served,

Sanquhar.
Says it all.
My cousins were brought up there, a couple still stay there. They are not Celtic fans, it’s not exactly a Celtic friendly place. :-))
You will not be surprised to know that I visited once and never returned.
Hail Hail.
TET,
No difference of opinion on the fact.
It is just that I suspect that the SFA, like UEFA , will hide behind the statute of limitations on this one, i.e., flogging a dead horse.
Therefore, get them on the titles, first the leagues, cia the SPFL, then the cups.
Should be interesting. Would love to see a bit of goodwill growing between our support and those of the grounds we visit.
Bridges better than walls, as someone said recently.
Heading for Gaffney’s in Fairview for a pint now.
Dessy
Hope so pal.
Yogi ….. condolences.
Burghbhoy …. I wouldn’t say today is a victory for us yet …. it is a chance at victory … if our Board have the necessary character.
our club has the chance to stand up and represent the fans and players who were cheated. It also has the chance to live up to its reputation for fighting the good fight.
as the Big Man once said, “Celtic Jerseys are not for second best, They don’t shrink to fit inferior players” someone needs to point out to the Board that, as representatives and custodians of our that tradition, Big Jock’s words apply as much to the Board as it does to the players. Hopefully, they dont shrink from their task.

May your sister in law be at rest from that horrible illness
Eternal rest grant unto her oh lord and May her soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed rest in peace

If justice is not served, I will stop following Celtic.

Sadly you won’t be the only one, things are so far down the line there is no turning back.
As TTT has just said, this is a time for building friendships with the other supporters in scotland, it’s gonna be hard cos most see us as the other side of the coin, but we have to try, there is a common enemy here and it’s not Celtic, never has been, never will be.
HH
Yogi,
Condolences on the sad loss of your sister-in-law.
Thoughts with Family and friends, and may she rest in peace.
DD
With you on that.
Saw an invincible treble last season, that might be it.
If this isnt tackled, i will retire from football.
Cant stand the cheating anymore.
HH
Which one are they and who decides. They way i see it Its simple if they claim unbroken history then they own the debt and consequences. If they claim that they are a new or seperate entity then they shed the debt issue but should not have any rights to the history or identity. Did the infamous five way agreement cover some or all of this. Assume the EBT’ers will still be pursued regardless.
Yogi, prayer said for your sister-in-law, RIP, and also for your brother and his daughters. I will remember them at Mass in the morning.
Delaneys, TET
Big Statement Lhads which I am certain neither of you believe yourselves

aurora …
isn’t one of CQN’s mantras that when Rangers were liquidated, their club died (i.e., you cant separate the club from the company)?
What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander…..
if our PLC doesn’t speak up, we cant say that, somehow, our club is above it ….
Yogi
Sorry amidst all this madness my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family — and they are far more important than this sorry mess.

Oh, beat me to it Marc!
Well it is done, took the SC to decide but it is done.
Now the real hard work begins to have their titles stripped, not necessarily to be given to the respective runners-up but for an asterisk to be inserted.
On title stripping the first that has to be dealt with is the Peer of the Realm, the person who hatched the plan to illegally withhold taxes fro the very establishment that knighted him.
The next stage is not Celtic’s job alone, every other Club must join together and fight for a judicial review on whether a now non existent club gained a sporting advantage and if so rewrite the history books and show on record they cheated.
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
Fans coming on saying that he has paid 600 pounds for a season ticket, great then he says if Celtic don’t do anything about Sevco cheating, then he will think seriously about renewing, well from this Celtic supporter,if they stole or cheated the Tax man for billions,I for one would still renew my season ticket,

Aurorborealis79, I support Celtic because I believe we have shared values.
If that doesn’t appear to be the case, then the bond weakens.
Lennybhoy. 9.09.
Aberdeen fans website have been to and froing all day trying to persuade AFC to make a statement. The club have told them they have no plans to do so.
Hail Hail
That SFA statement doesn’t even make sense. Nobody’s talking about “disciplinary action”, you can’t discipline the dead.

I said I would stop weighing in with money for a rigged game, as it will be unless justice is done and seen to be done.
HH
Would be interesting to see the SFA defend the no sporting advantage conclusion in a court and see how they square that circle
Football clubs are businesses as well as sporting enterprises. The business advantage gained by being able to hire tax free employees is just as important maybe more so
Corner shop analogy
Corner shop A does not pay its tax dues
Corner shop B does pay its tax dues
With time Corner shop B will be no more after Corner shop A gobbles up all its business
The extra money promoted Corner shop A business at the expense of all others in the same commercial field that is Scottish Football
They should be handing back their tax free trophies in shame for the best part of 2 decades they rigged the system and had the press in their pocket
And if the SFA don’t void their cheating titles organise a civil case against them along the lines of a class action
After all it’s the football paying public of Scotland who got ripped off here with dodgy goods sold by the SFA as kosher
celtic are the people btw .csc
HH
You stay classy AB79.
Not quite swearing but we all know what you.meant.
I thought Big Packy might have been on to gloat about the huns getting pumped last night and today’s SC ruling finally proving their dead ancestors to be cheats. Maybe he is still lamenting his lost friendship with the Protestant Tim or more than likely thinking about burning his sevco scarf.
DHARMA BAM on 5TH JULY 2017 9:13 PM
All I can say is don’t give up the good fight. Those values are something worth fightin for.
