“The appeal is dismissed.” With those words at the Supreme Court in London at 9:52 this morning, Rangers tax cheating was established as fact. The charlatans who manipulated Scottish football fans were shown to be the disgrace they are.
Rangers made unlawful payments, totalling many millions of pounds, to footballers, who, by the club’s own admission in court, they would have been unable to recruit if they had to pay tax and National Insurance contributions for.
They lied to HMRC.
They also hid documents from HMRC, which only came to light during a City of London Police raid on Ibrox.
They hid documents from the SPL and SFA, failing to honestly register dozens of players.
They cheated the tax man.
They cheated the welfare state, the NHS, the police, councils, schools. They cheated the Army and other services.
The SPL’s (now called Scottish Professional Football League) Commission into these matters must now be set aside. It was conducted on the assumption that Rangers acted legally. Lord Nimmo Smith was clear that his conclusions were predicated on this point. A fresh commission is required, we cannot just allow the biggest cheats in British sporting history wander off into the distance.
The SFA has failed to call Sir David Murray to account, or the other directors of Rangers, who had explicit responsibility to ensure the club acted within the laws of the land and within the rules of football, both of which it failed to do.
Murray should be sine died. God knows, I cherish every moment Dave King controls things at Ibrox, but he was a director of Rangers with legal responsibility for its actions. They should all be censured.

Yogi Hughes, may your sister in law rest in peace
Last night on BBC n.I.
there was a hun getting interviewed in…
a pub on Sandy Row and he said,…..
“It tells you all that you need to know about, the supporters of Glasgow Celtic, when their own club can’t trust them to come over here.”
There was also a local journalist called, Hugh, who is a life long Celtic supporter and, he can’t understand why there has been this reaction from Celtic.
Ah wouldn’t have, Desmond, O’Brien or, Lawwell, anywhere near the Celtic….
but, this time, they’ve called it correct…..
Celtic FC, will “NEVER” be worth more than the safety of, a single supporter.
Anyway,…..
…..off-oot.

Wholeheartedly agree.
Players, managers and even directors received EBTs at Rangers. Stars such as Barry Ferguson and Lorenzo Amoruso benefited from the scheme as did managers Alex McLeish, Dick Advocaat and Graeme Souness. Former owner Sir David Murray was also in receipts of an EBT. Over 80 members of Rangers staff received payments this way.

UEFA ticket regulations:
37.03 The home club may reallocate tickets returned or not requested by the visiting club provided that all safety and security measures (as mentioned in the UEFA Safety and Security Regulations) are respected and that such tickets are not reallocated to supporters of the visiting club.
Missed a lot of the chat yesterday.
Couple of things.
a) SFA statement – not surprised.
b) Celtic statement – surprised by it’s balanced passive aggressive stance. Just about right for now but I expect more aggressive than passive will be required soon.
c) this is funny as…:

Is refusal to assist the police with their enquiries in itself not a crime ?
###
No.
The £250k fine may well have been for “improper registration of players”, however the fact is that it was actually ” deliberate deception”, which is a wholly different scale of transgression.

I called for our supporter associations to seek a coalition with other clubs’ groups a couple of years ago,but the idea was shot down.
Maybe it’s not too late.
Did it take the ultimate ‘proof positive’ of a Supreme Court ruling to damn, and shame, Ben Johnston, Lance Armstrong and their ilk, before sporting justice was seen to be done and the record books adjusted to record – for eternity – the shame of the cheating offenders?

The SFA is a pox on Scottish football and Scottish ethics and Scottish morals, I’m glad I don’t work for them.
The SFA and the SPL employees are responsible for the disgrace that shrouds Scottish football today, their coffins will honk to hell.
