Social cost of Scots exclusion

1522

You want to know the real social cost of Scottish football’s exclusion from the league structure England and Wales share?  It’s the lack of pitches, nets, strips, balls and coaching certifications that the £1bn bounty, promised by the Barclay’s Premier League last night to the grassroots game.

£1bn to the grassroots is a huge sum.  It dwarfs what taxpayers can afford and will provide a series of benefits our kids and amateur players are denied.

If we’re part of the UK, we should be part of the UK’s commercial opportunities.  Every youth team in the land are excluded because of the actions of a cartel.

What are the SFA doing about it?  Nothing.  Their plans don’t seem to require world-class youth facilities.

Easy win for Australia. A popular victory for local Indians , Bangladeshis , Pakistanis and Sri Lankans.Glaswegian me was neutral..I must try to learn the reason for their antipathy to New Zealand.

    That’s bad news about Nir.

Wasn’t he injured last season as well while playing for Israel – just as he was beginning to establish himself in the team?

It took him ages to get back to his best.

Hope this won’t be a similar set back, and he can help us to complete the treble.

Of course, that’s your call to make. My view is that a forum like this is not improved by constant scrolling. It kinda defeats the purpose.

  15. Here’s hoping Bitton is ok he’d be a big loss to us with the way he’s been playing.

  22. Once again the Scotsmans article on nil by mouth betrays Scotlands rwcism. While at one point it does point out that nil by mouth have indeed been criticised for ignoring the real problem – anti Catholicism – it does so in a way which instantly dismisses this as wrong.

Worse than that it sneeringly criticises people spending a week discussing the word Hun, instantly ignoring that that debate is about both civil liberty and anti Catholicism seeping into everyday life by attempting to criminalise celtic supporters again.

Scotland is mired in racism, blind to it or wilfully embracing it.

  23. Captain Beefheart on

Signing targets. Looks like we are going for value recruits. Nothing wrong with that if they are good. They had better be. Another CL humiliation is unthinkable.

  24. Auldheid I read your response yesterday. But it still makes no sense that celtic aren’t taking res 12 forward. What is their excuse?
