Social cost of Scots exclusion

1522

You want to know the real social cost of Scottish football’s exclusion from the league structure England and Wales share?  It’s the lack of pitches, nets, strips, balls and coaching certifications that the £1bn bounty, promised by the Barclay’s Premier League last night to the grassroots game.

£1bn to the grassroots is a huge sum.  It dwarfs what taxpayers can afford and will provide a series of benefits our kids and amateur players are denied.

If we’re part of the UK, we should be part of the UK’s commercial opportunities.  Every youth team in the land are excluded because of the actions of a cartel.

What are the SFA doing about it?  Nothing.  Their plans don’t seem to require world-class youth facilities.

Cheers for replies. I meant single malt in my question so I’m guessing Jameson’s doesn’t stack up well against malt.

What about premium Irish whiskey like Powers? Any good.

Fave malt btw – Glendronach, all ages (closely followed by Glenfarclas & Benriach). Was given the Glendronach 21yr Parliament for Xmas. So good I nearly wept.

    Anyway…aff oot, as they say.

I’ll pass on your best wishes when she comes home from her trip to Edinburgh

  3. Some unfair comments about hooper

We signed him on the cheap..he came scored alot of goals for us then there was talk of england call up etc

Team from his own country offer him a good deal to play in a more competitive league and chance to impress england coaches most weekends.

Cant blame the lad for giving it a go.

His work rate wasnt the greatest but he usually got on the scoresheet..exactly what you want your striker to do.

Fan power got the huns oot the league – talking didny

Fan power will get res-12 resolved pronto

Res-12 is designed to keep fans on the ootside guessing

The 5 way agreement is another load of guff which is the equivalent of a boxer being sent into the ring to box wi his hauns tied.

Fan power is the ‘real’ source of energy that will get the job done but, not in Celtic’s case as our fans are prisoners in their own house(CP)…which suits a colluding Celtic ‘bored’ to a T.

The ‘only’ way that Scottish football can be saved is by getting a Celtic Board led by rebellious Celtic fans like Jeanette Findlay who will not be ‘dissed’ by the exponents of anti-Celtic witch craft at the SFA / SMSM etc.

Res-12 covers the period in our history were…the Celtic ‘bored’ looekd the other way to save the huns.

I agree that fan power is the only way to resolve the res-12 (and other) issues but dont think its going to happen. If we can be told that we’re losing £10m a year without the huns and swallow it then we can be told just about anything. Does this mean in the ten years preceding their demise we took in £100m , generated solely from their existence? Cant remember anyone declaring that in ! Anyway, like yerself Im aff oot,

    Henke,

Like your choice of favourite malts and if you like them, try Auchentoshan Three Wood.

Unlike most other Scottish Malts and like Irish ones, it is triple distilled.

Very smooth. Far too easy to drink:-)

Last day of my fortnight off, heading to Glasgow/London/Swindon.

Had an absolute ball, thanks to my ever-welcoming and forgiving family and friends. My grateful thanks are woefully inadequate.

Rounded off the trip with a great night at The Kano Foundation. My two sisters and my Dad were in the company of greatness-Steinreignedsupreme,Ayrshire Tim,Delaneys Dunky,Leftclicktic,Lennybhoy,El Diego Bhoy and friend. Just enough for them to tolerate me!

Thanks,folks-and to all the others I met on the night-I had a ball!

  12. When i was a kid i used to love it when our players were in their national side….well….they were probably all Scottish in those days with the odd Irish one.

Nowadays i prefer them to be left out, injury free and sitting at home raring to get back out there playing for us all nice n fresh.

  13. Morning all.

Not a great day down here weather-wise. Still, the clocks have gone forward and Holy Week is upon us. Can only be good for the ole soul.

What would be good for my soul would be the resigning of Gary Hooper. For me, he’s the best centre forward we’ve had in a long long time. Don’t suppose he’d come back any way.

  14. Thunder Road –

Have a safe trip back down the road. Great night last night amidst some really good people. As you say, real quality at our table but that was only because Micktt wisnae there ;-)

Had to laugh at your sisters “Naw, we don’t dance” First choon and the two of them were up there jigging away.

Anyway let’s hope Ayrshire isnae struck by a tsunami anytime soon as its seems we have no contingency plan!

Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible is published every year. He reviews and scores about 4000 whisky’s and (whiskeys ) from all over the world ,reviews them each year so you can tell if the one you like it is still up to scratch.

Costs about half the price of a decent bottle and is well worth the investment as it will save you from poor decisions. He does mot follow the mantra ‘scotch good e erything else bad’ and he is not afraid to give accolades to good whisky regardless of where it comes from eg India ,Japan

Online reviewer Ralfy.com is also worth checking out.

Same goes for snooker and golf. They’re just games.

Any ideas why some things are games and others sports? For me physical fitness is one deciding factor.
