Some sympathy for Stewart Robertson

728

I know lockdown is causing much anxiety, but can you imagine being in Newco chief exec Stewart Robertson’s shoes these days?  He must have known the gig was up when he decided not to release his ‘evidence’ before clubs were able to send proxy vote to block his EGM resolution.

I’m sure he hoped the SPFL would announce they have enough votes in the bag, allowing him to flounce off, instead of substantiating his claim, but those he wanted sacked at the League will want to see this play out as much as the rest of us.

He even has Graeme Spiers calling him out as the weakest man he’s met in football.  For a man in his position, “weak” is the most damning word, it will resonate with those whose support he relies on.  And let’s not forget, he has tens of millions to find to continue trading though next season, by comparison, this SPFL mess is like a July Walk on the Queen’s highway.

From what I hear, Stewart is a decent bloke, one made for less complex times.  His strings are almost certainly being pulled by some sinister Geppetto character.  If he fails to produce his ‘evidence’, this afternoon’s Premiership club meeting will be an excruciating, if not humiliating, affair.  It will all be over soon, Stewart; you hang in there.

I’m sure we would all like to congratulate PSG on winning the ninth title in their history and seventh in eight years yesterday, apart from that Neymar character, of course.  The story for Scottish football in how the French league finished is the third place finish of Rennes – who could only manage a fourth place finish in the Europa League group Celtic topped.

While we are not in PSG’s class, we more than held our own against a French and Italian sides in the Europa League this season.  Like Celtic, Rennes will enter the Champions League qualification round next season.

  1. I’m in New Jersey for my sins. Rad or is about 60 plus miles south.

We had a powerful storm system blow through yesterday with heavy rain and high winds.

It’s fine today. We were fortunate to miss the worst of the system.

So the sevco are gonna share the evidence, but that bbc report appeared to be far less confrontational than before, they will come away with proof that they pressurised clubs etc to accept, counter argument go back to 2012 and show same pressure being applied, only difference sevco would benefit from 2012 decision, case closed you losers go play with the buses

Hopefully Celtic supporters don’t do T&Cs.

The season ticket is a sunk cost. Paid. Gone.

For sure, if your financial situation has changed or changes due to the virus, claim back the money.

I’d assume most will write it off if their circumstances are unchanged.

    Ditto next season.

Unfortunately for some they may not be able to renew, but there’s a waiting list.

If my circumstances allow I’m happy to buy a 2 season tickets in the knowledge I may not set foot in the Park.

    More than a club.

  5. THE BLOGGER…………

I suspect those on the waiting list may be suffering the same financial pressures as those who can’t afford to renew.

    Could be wrong.

The state aid nutter was in meltdown mode on Twitter. Made to look very foolish.

He was having a go back at Celtic about the Hotel and the improvements at Barrowfield. Calling them moombeams.

He might have a point in the Hotel. Celtic decided to go public, their partner pulled out and they decided to upgrade barrow field instead. Stuff like this can happen but it was a little embarrassing.

Don’t know who is worse , BBC or Sky. Tuned in to Sky 503 on 3 evenings this week covering 4 games . 2 showing Rangers (as they were then) beating Celtic , one showing Hibs beating Celtic and 1 showing Hearts beating Celtic. If I was an alien just landed from another planet , I would be convinced Celtic were the whipping boys of Scoddish football.

We really must be upsetting a lot of peepul.

Glendalytonsils, one of my favourite sayings is: ‘when the future looks bleak, glorify the past’.

The beauty of all these hunned-up rehashes is that we know how it ends. 😂😂😂

  9. The lack of statements from them this week in the face of the SPFL Chairman and CEO calling them out suggests strongly that Sevco want a way out of this.

Media briefings today of a positive meeting is perhaps the other clubs being willing to provide them with a ladder for their inevitable climb down.

There will be no suspensions, no resignations and no enquiry. Celtic will be awarded the title on points per game and Sevco will do absolutely nothing meaningful to oppose it.

  10. Had a wee banter there with a sevco supporting former workmate . Didn’t like the idea of 9 in a row , but said we will be laughing on the other side of our face in a couple of weeks . On asking ,he said wait and see , . This lad has connections at the Victorian lavvy or I would have dismissed it . Anyone any idea what he is on about

Don’t know about you guys, but I’m really missing the Saturday experience.

Fighting to the bar in Mchuills ,the Sarry et al then the thrill of the approach and the game itself.

The meeting in the boozer after the game and analysing what we could have done better and how we were cheated by the men in black.

When we get to the other side, and we will , I hope I never forget what simple pleasures give me the most joy.
