Spartak sack manager Emeri after derby defeat

871

Spartak Moscow today sacked manager Unai Emeri after a 1-5 home league defeat against eight placed Dinamo Moscow.  Spartak are confirmed as bottom of Celtic’s Champions League group before they head to Celtic Park for the final game on 5 December.

Emeri has been increasingly unpopular since taking over earlier this year when his spell at Valencia ended, while rumours of dissent in the dressing room were never far away.  I had hoped he would remain in place for the visit to Glasgow but there will be a new man in charge by then.

A group of around 200 supporters demonstrated after the game, many chanting for the foreign players to ‘Go home’.

We have Commons, McCourt and Ibrahim touted as our creative spark. They all have abilities but, being honest, Kris is a Level 2 player compared to genuine Level 1s like Lubo, McStay and Murdoch. Paddy and Rabiu are Level 3 and 4 respectively. I think we need to develop someone to challenge Kris. I hope Dylan McGeouch or Filip Twardzik might get there.

I fear we may not see Jim McGuiness’s influence this early. I don’t doubt his abilities but he will need to earn his spurs with the Senior pros and it will be a different challenge than working with dedicated amateurs who are less cynical.

I believe Jim will prove his worth with the youth teams and, when some of them start making the breakthrough, he can use his link and trust with them to get to our first teamers.

Indeed Sipsini. There are issues and they have to be resolved for sure. This persecution of the GB is very worrying and these kids must not be hunted from the support. As well as just being wrong, it would in my opininon have a big effect on the rest of the support and many will not renew their season tickets if it happens.

Through the years we’ve always at some point had fall outs between the board and the support, however in the current era the normal fan has great forums like CQN as well as other Internet sites to let our views be known.

The day after the GB announcement Celtic very quickly came out with a statement, so we can be heard by the club in this medium as well as through supporters associations as well as protests on match days.

I think these days folk in the club are more aware of the new media and have learned they can find out some of the fans views by simply loggin in.

Hopefully dialogue will be opened up between all the parties concerned, and as a club we will all speak with the one voice when it comes to the time to approach the police and get it sorted out.

Brasil National coach, Mano Menzes got bladdered on Friday, papers here all full of euphoria that Pep Guardiola will be his replacement.

But ….. My first love will always get another chance …. Always

So the C B are quite happy to let the G B into an empty stadium for hours to lay out their display to create an atmosphere? But on another day they want them followed, harassed. taped and intimidated? This stinks!!

    That’ll be Lenny’s fault then?

Wasn’t at the game yesterday and haven’t seen any footage, so can’t comment.

I think it’s brilliant that at this stage in the season there’s only four points between the top and middle of the table. Aberdeen can go top on Tuesday. What’s not to like???!!!

I hope the lead swaps hands many times over the coming weeks, but ultimately Celtic win the league.

I think the Green Brigade have made their point regarding the harrasment by police, I would like to see them return to where they belong, and getting on with doing what they do best, supporting the famous Glasgow Celtic.

ps I think the GB should invite some celebs into section 111, perhaps we could start with a certain member of the cloth from auld Green oak town :¬)

I’m a season ticket holder and wasn’t at the game. How dare you blame me for this result. But it’s a fair cop. :)

I didn’t bhoycott the game though. I’d been out in town, in the cold, most of the morning and couldn’t be bothered leaving my nice warm house to go sit in the cold, again, after I’d got home. Getting too old for it! :)

    Vmhan,

its all in the hands of the board, like you I’d love to see them back for arbroath but I expect empty promises to trick them into making a fool of themselves might be tried first.

I believe the board would rather alienate them than anything else, well that appears to have been the strategy up till now.

We can drive the team to greatness, ie the barca result, equally we can also be detrimental to the team by groaning booing and moaning,a couple of other posters have put it better than me, SFTB mad 67Heaven, the supporters can make a difference.

You coming for a beer with some cqners n we can have a chat about it. Not sure if you’re local to ML3 but should be good craic.
