Speak his name in hushed tones

1566

For three months a charade took place, where Craig Whyte – who is and will remain owner of Rangers until they are finally ‘flushed away’, Duff and Phelps, The Blue Knight(s), Bill Miller, Charles Green, several members of the accountancy profession who should have known better, and some of the Fourth Estate, who clearly didn’t know better, all told you Rangers were likely to achieve a CVA.

As we (and several others) told you, a CVA was never, ever, going to be accepted by HMRC.  A cursory glance at the HMRC web site would confirm that.  Once Alex Salmond had his wings clipped, that debate was over.

The charade was a distraction.  There are many other distractions available today and they will multiply in the days to come, but I reckon if you’re looking for the critical path on this one you should keep an eye on Lord Carloway.  The chair of the SFA Appellate Panel is worth listening out for.  Say his name in hushed tones, better still, abbreviate.  Even the mention of LC will cause anxiety and distress, for some.

I predicted this some time ago ….. as did others, I expect ….. but I was being sarcastic.

And in the same spirit, I predict that 1 year transfer embargo will be backdated to 1944.

    Mort,

Keep on posting …. talking about liquidation …. not just for me, but for my dad … he was loving it, and I like to think that he’s up there, having a drink and a song with family and friends…. and taking a break long enough to read CQN …. and he and the rest of the bhoys are following along (I assume that they have CQN up in heaven and FF …. well, we know where they read that one!)

    Paul67,

About 11 years ago, after he moved to Calgary, I went out there, hooked up his internet, and set up a subscription for him for C67 …. we rarely missed a game after that, and it always gave us something to talk about ….

started reading this site only a few weeks after you started, and got my dad hooked….. there hasn’t been a day since that he and I didn’t read CQN, and we spoke almost every day (always, some part of the conversation got around to what we read on here)….. C67 and CQN really brought my dad and I closer ….

This blog means so much more to a lot of us than you could probably ever realize …. thanks doesn’t seem enough for what you and your blog gave to my dad and I …. but thanks is all I can say, so, thanks..

Mike, sorry to hear your news. Sending good wishes.

  11. Delay in the start of the season

There are plenty of clubs struggling for cash really cant see them entertaining a further 2 -3 weeks with no revenue

  12. Guys – what memories! I saw The Boss at Newcastle’s old ground in June 1985 when he was in his pomp – 3 hours then too, and very noisy hours. The first chord of ‘Born in the USA’ nearly caved in the 120 speakers that were round the stage (I counted them through a ‘smoke’ filled haze)?

And I’m just back from my pals in Madrid – so near and also so far ! And I’m only 29 (I think?) – maybe all that ‘smoke’ ? I was in my thirties then if I’m honest!

Now what could cheer me up – I know – Chico’s greatest hits! Can’t wait for Paul’s book to come out too – all 10 volumes!

Very sad news, he’ll be looking down at you smiling

  14. Delay the start of the SPL? I’m not surprised that has been suggested. Many of us have talked about the short time for everything that would be needed to get the new club ready to play.

But how will other clubs view this? Clubs already pissed off with them for taking the SFA to court. Clubs who would have their preseason plans thrown up in the air, their preparations for Europe disrupted. And how would another couple if weeks without a home game affect the cashflows of some of the clubs?

The very idea may harden attitudes towards the newco. They cannot expect everyone else to rearrange things just to suit them. If they keep pushing the undecided amongst the SPL one or two might just decide that they are too much bother.

  15. I happily, Nay, ecstatically, admit that I was wrong and the Obsessives right about them eventually going into Liquidation.

good point, i am an eejit

  17. A couple of quick points.

1.) When CVA fails, assets are transferred to Charles Green’s Sevco who will have to apply for membership of SPL.

2.) BDO will be appointed liquidators of Rangers Football Club Plc and will take over the day to day running of the club from Duff and Phelps.

3.) Rangers Football Club Plc will still have a share in the SPL and will be permitted a vote on a transfer of a share.

Do you see where I am going with this?

BDO as operators of Rangers Football Club Plc will be the only ones able to attend the vote for the transfer of the share. Will they vote for Sevco to get the share? Will they care what happens to Sevco? Would they feel a conflict of interest to vote for Sevco? Would absteining from the vote be in BDO’s best interests therefore for the share to take place, Sevco still need 8 current SPL clubs to vote in their interests.

If I have got this wrong please let me know.

Who takes the decision to delay the start of the season? The board? The club chairmen? Doncaster? And does such a delay have to be agreed by both SPL and SFA?

It has been RUMOURED (by whom?) that the SPL are to delay the start of the season. That is all. Hold fire, chums!

Also, and sorry to dampen enthusiasm, but do you all really believe that Rangers are no longer? For me to feel the happiness that that would truly bring, there would need to be no Ibrox and no resurrection in any form of the team once known as Rangers. Will that happen?
