Spineless, unacceptable attack on Celtic fans

Your reputation was dragged into the mud by Social Justice Minister, Humza Yousaf, MSP,on Twitter this morning.  He wrote:

“On upcoming Celtic Vs Rangers match, we need clear messaging from everyone that fans must stay at home. If Police intelligence tells us, despite clear messaging, that groups of fans are going to gather to square off with each other, we need to consider if game should be postponed.”

“If Police intelligence tells us groups of fans are going to square off with each other” is his technique of throwing the blanket of blame over Celtic fans to prevent him addressing the threat of further social unrest head on.  He feels safe saying adding “Celtic” instead of calling out the true problem.  It is as spineless as it is unacceptable.

Be clear: there are absolutely no plans to postpone this game and there is no police intelligence that fans will square off.  None.  What there is, is a significant threat that the problems of last weekend are repeated on 21 March.  As far as this SNP government is concerned, we dare not speak that problem’s name.

This has nothing to do with Celtic and nothing to do with Celtic fans but your government is happy to trash the reputation of both.  He is toying with the reputation of the innocent and the occasionally vulnerable young.  If a Celtic lad turned up wearing lipstick Yousaf’s head would explode.

A lead in the polls does not permit you a free kick at Celtic fans.  Social Justice Minister, give me strength, you are contemptible.

    We’ve been made aware that

     

    @policescotland

     

    have been to visit the homes of numerous Celtic supporters to “warn them” not to show up at Celtic Park next week. This seems to be ongoing. This harassment is entirely unjustified and we urge all fans to stay calm and know your rights.

    And just in case the Scottish Justice Minister is looking in, …..other aprons are available.

    So,

     

     

    I had to go to Braehead today, precription from Boots, and plan to get some food from M&S,

     

    I was pleasantly suprised to see at the Boots side, the car park was reasonably empty, so off we go.

     

     

    I havnt been in the centre since christmas, so did not know what to expect.

     

     

    As I believe it, essential shopping includes food, alcohol, pharmacys, opticians, petrol stations,

     

     

    Got to Boots, drop it off, come back in half an hour (that always puzzles me, where are the tabs kept in a secret vault that only opens every half hour ?). Anyways, off to M and S, Everything is shut, except Boots, Vision Express and …………………… THE APPLE SHOP , how the flying fluck is that an essential click and collect ?

     

     

    Onwards, ignore them there kids, and get to the other side, The Pound shop is open, hmmm, ok it sells food I suppose.

     

     

    M&S que is out the doors and all the way back to the elecric charge points , so people leaving the shop are crossing over the que.. I join up. Being the bore I am, I counted forward , i gave up at 100 in my eyesigth, but the que moved fast, i kept my distance, but there were family group, all types in the queue, many older generation people.

     

     

    Got to the front in probaby 10 minutes, then the fun began.

     

     

    Inside the store is like the fall of rome (well Lazio).

     

     

    Sale goods everwhere before you get to the foodhall, literally hundreds of people in the store, some with trollies stuffed full of bargain clothes, while the families pick out more and more, and big ques, Christmas like , for the tills.

     

     

    There is something very opportunist about retailers doing this, it just allows people to congregate.

     

    The people themselves dont follow the rules, events recently imho, sees a breakdown of respecting others, if its ok for them, then its ok for us to pick up stuff, why not.

     

     

    Dont get me started on the non maskers, or the half maskers.

     

     

    Wave 3 is potentially starting now, Billy and Willemena Public started it last weekend, these equally as daft shoppers, many still of the most vulnarable groups, they are spreading it or catching it today, I got through the shop , i did not get the food i want, a good sanitize when i got in the car, and again at home,

     

     

    The whole thing is shambolic.

    A 3rd and 4th wave on it’s way.

     

     

    The Scottish Government have to make football clubs accountable for gatherings of their fans during a pandemic and should lay down a marker ASAP by making SFA/SPFL deduct points from Sevco and and then any clubs supporters will think twice about gathering.

    couple of other observations,

     

     

    65% of the population has had no vaccines at all. Many of the people out today might feel more protected becasue they have had one shot, unfortunately many will catch it, just needs one asymtamatic person touching things in the shops.

     

     

    next, why do family groups feel the need to go mam, dad, granny, granda and weans together, do they think it is compulsary to go about in the bubble together ?

     

     

    anyways, as we said, see the effects coming now.

    Born 38 years ago

     

    His father, John, was the first Catholic on a Parochial Board in Glasgow

     

    Studied at St Mungo’s, St Aloysius then Glasgow University. Received the degree of MB.

     

    Admitted, after 9 months study, to the Royal College of Surgeons, London.

     

    After a short time, he returned to the East End in 1882.

     

    Built up his own practice then won the degree of MD.

     

     

    Honorary member of SVDP Society

     

    One of the principal promoters of the Observer newspaper

     

     

    “It was greatly owing to his exertions that the Celtic Football Club was started, and in acknowledgement of his efforts in that direction, the members appointed him Honorary President for three years. Of a very charitable disposition, no one applied to him for help in vain, while his contributions to the Catholic charities were both numerous and substantial.”

    This illustration shows the first membership card issued by Celtic FC, for season 1887-1888. It belonged to Dr. John Conway, the club’s first honorary president.

     

     

    Celtic were founded in 1887 as a charitable institution to assist the poor in Glasgow’s East End. Brother Walfrid, a Marist Brother, was a driving force and is credited with the choice of name for the club. The first playing field was adjacent to Janefield Cemetery, in Parkhead. The present Celtic Park was opened in 1892, and hosted several international matches in its early years.

     

     

    Celtic’s first official game was a friendly in May 1888 against Rangers, which they won 5-2. They quickly became established as one of Scotland’s leading clubs, attracting a large following, in particular from sections of the community with Irish connections. Along with Rangers, Celtic quickly came to dominate Scottish football, winning six seccessive league championships between 1904 and 1910 under manager Willie Maley.
