SPL makes more concessions to Sevco

291

Channel 4’s Alex Thomson’s source at the SPL yesterday confirmed that the league will not proceed with their hearing into Rangers illegal registration of players until Sevco agrees to be bound by its findings.  This is curious as Item 12 (Sanctions) from the SFA’s ‘List of items required to accompany application for transfer of full membership’ from Rangers to Sevco, an application which Sevco have already made, obliged Sevco to agreed to be bound by these findings.

The relevant part of the transfer application reads:

“Confirmation that Sevco will accept such sanctions as are proposed by the Scottish FA in relation to current proceedings.

Confirmation re EBT sanction position at SPL level and subsequent appeal to Scottish FA.

Confirmation that Sevco will accept responsibility for any breach of the Articles etc by Oldco which has not so far come to light.”

If Sevco have not accepted the terms of the SFA membership application there seems little point putting Scottish Football League clubs through such dramas this week. An alternative explanation is that Sevco have completed their application in full but the SPL have no plausible excuse for delaying tier investigation into illegal registration of players, so have used an implausible excuse.

Neither explanation is tenable. Things are not going to plan for the national bodies.

  1. @henriksombrero. Manila. Very unlikely that you will get the Celtic games on tv there. Was there in March this year and used to live there. There are a couple of pubs in the Makati area you could try. Heckle and Jeckle etc.

Best bet…. Slingbox to your Sky+ or online. I used to follow the games on CQN.

I have in the last two minutes spoken to my source, the problem is nailing it down,I believe there is something, but would be a fool to put it out without 100/ proof.HH

If it helps, you can let your source know that on CQN we have very particular sets of skills; skills acquired over very long careers; skills that make us a nightmare for people like your source. If he fails to produce the goods, we will look for him. We will find him…..and we will moan at him.

Mick1888 – cheers. I feared as much. Makati area – is that the business area ? I believe that’s where my hotel is located. Mandarin Oriental.

Any local tips would be much appreciated.

  5. UEFA’s stane is that the SFA should ensure that the rules of Scottish football are met – but that it won’t do anything if they are not.

The statutes state that additional criteria may be put in place for league membership – this is licensing, financial fair play and the like. It is not an invite to use financial criteria as a means for promotion.

    …………..

And what would their stance be if a member club sued the SFA for not ensuring the rules are met?

    2) Have Sevco requested a transfer of SFA membership from R(ia) to Sevco, or are they looking for a distinctly new membership (which would have no ties to oldco)?

The SFA say ” the…policy relates to applications for a new membership. In this case, Rangers Newco will be applying for the transfer of an existing membership held with the Oldco.

Rangers Oldco submitted the necessary financial information for 2009 and 2010. It did not submit for the year 2011, which resulted in the Judicial Panel sanctioning the club a total of £160,000 for various breaches of its Articles of Association, and also imposing a transfer embargo which has been subsequently set aside after the Court of Session ruling by Lord Glennie.”

So transferring old to new is not the same as a new club pitching up and wanting in.

if any Scottish club took the SFA to the civil courts then UEFA would demand that the SFA suspend that club from football.

Are we seeing censorship at the Daily Record….?

A poster on CQN mentioned the comments section for oldco/newco/Sevco stories at the DR are closed and I noticed the comments section are open on Celtic stories.

Why would they do this is it because they don’t want a fans debate on the ills of oldco/newco

Fans power has already taken its toll on Sevco so far and sent them out of the SPL. I wonder is the DR running scared of their influence and the possibility of fans power sending them to the 3rd

Sevco in the 3rd would be bad news for the pay packets of their sycophantic hacks who feed us stories about doomsday and Armageddon if they start at the bottom.

Of course we can be absolutely sure there is no impartiality whatsoever with the stories they feed us about keeping them alive for the good of Scottish football

They need Sevco fans buying their papers and they will buy a lot more of them if they are higher up the divisions than lower down at rock bottom

  13. @henriksombrero. Yes, Makati is the Business District… or distract if you prefer. One place I would recommend is the Hobbit House, go with an open mind. Plenty of pubs and bars and all that goes with it in Makati, except the Celtic games of course. Some massive shopping malls close by too, if that’s your thing. Great Mall of Asia is worth a look. Good restaurants in Bonifacio High Street for a pleasant Sunday afternoon. Get a taxi to there from Makati. Philippines is the least Asian country in Asia. Heard it said its more like South America. Strong American influence. It’s ok for a short trip, you would find enough to keep you occupied. Also, it has the coolest public transport you will find anywhere, in the jeepneys.

Can I Have Raspberry On That – Yup.

And the longer Charlie Chalk and his SFA allies expend precious time and energy wrangling over the details of their various cunning plans to gerrymander the Scottish league system, the less likely it is that a sustainable Rangers NewCo can be established at all. (thumbsup)
