Spoiled Child FC have their Trump Jan 6 moment

376

The SFA issued a statement yesterday afternoon in response to Newco’s comments implying inappropriate action by the VAR adversely affected them during their recent defeat to Celtic.  It addressed three matters:

The Newco penalty claim was a “Subjective handball… that the VAR did not deem it a sufficiently clear and obvious error”.  The VAR did not claim the incident was not a penalty, just that it did not meet the “obvious error” threshold.

Notwithstanding the subjective nature of the above decision, it goes on to say that at the meeting, “There was an overall consensus that the incident could not have led to a penalty kick being awarded in any event”.  So we all agree, no penalty!

The statement concludes by attempting to chastise Newco for their behaviour and its potential consequences, “recent incidents in European football that have compromised the safety of match officials”  They failed to mention incidents in Scottish football last year which led to two prosecutions following a Newco complaint against a referee from a similar ethnic background to Saturday’s VAR.

Newco is like a spoiled child.  Not getting its own way results in a tantrum, where no reaction is off the table.  They are not adults, they will not learn, if anything, they have set a new level of behaviour they are compelled to repeat.  The SFA statement will have no restraining effect.

As always, it is not the nutters around the boardroom table who do the real damage.  They simply inspire the (genuinely) tiny percentage of violent and dangerous individuals, who now feel a reaction is justified.  Newco are Team Trump, this is their January 6 play and we all know it.

This is shameful behaviour from a shameful football club.

  1. Good Morning Celts – Grand Day To Be A Tim

    AULDHEID @ 7:55 PM,

Hopefully we will see things move on now, oversight is absolutely key in Scottish Football.

It is interesting when this is on the horizon that Sevco don’t get awarded a borderline penalty, against us, then lose a penalty against Kilmarnock.

    World records oot the window.

It is time we put our shoulder to the wheel and got behind the SFSA and James Dornan.

    Hail Hail

  2. MARSPAPA @ 7:46 PM,

“My go to driving song as I headed out of Chalvey and into the tree lined roads round the Beaconsfield area….”

Great choice of song, though Deep Purple was a favourite back then.

Use’d to scoot round those roads on my bike as a teenager.

Now it’s my visits to Taplow Court Centre mainly, though I met some old pals for a beer at the Royal Standard at Wooburn Common over Christmas.

  3. Bada Bing,

Mc Kenna a very decent CH.Or maybe the Forest support are wrong.

We dont need him,but I dont want him going across the City.

  4. Young McKenna would be a no from me , ball watcher and rugged lhad , honest trier. Would fit the Hun style but is liable to get a move to another English club , so nothing to see here story in my view.

His karate kick on Odsonne keeps coming back to mind !

  6. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Just watched Lil’Ze’s Olivier Ntcham montage.

    What a talent.

    What a waste.

Can’t believe he is only 27 years old.

Used to be said talent wasn’t enough.

Nowadays talent and physical fitness are not enough.

Professional footballers need incredible focus and mental strength to make it.

Olivier wasn’t the same after Moussa (Le Grand Chien) left Celtic.

    Also a squad management lesson.

With benefit of hindsight, should have been sold during his short peak … even though it would have generated grief.

  7. Good afternoon all from a -3 Garngad.

    Nightmare out there.

May God help the good people of the Bahamas.

    Has the site crashed ?

    TT

No TT,its just the range of adverts coming onto the site, then going from page to page the adverts are the ruining of the blog.

Advise has been given bout changing browser, why should that be? When folk like SFTB have been here for years but find the site inadmissable and wont change their browsers

No notification of updates happened for us.

Tis why this blog is down to a few pages as good Celtic men and woman cant be assed going through the hassle of coming on here.

There are bigger and more informed sites/whatsapp groups.its cqn’s loss and a real shame(the impediments) for the global Celtic community.

    ____

Absolutely. Many a spoilt child continue to throw tantrums and get their way. Need to take advantage of this now.

I’ve not seen a great deal of Scott mckenna recently but surely he’d be a decent player in Scotland. Not that I’m saying we need another CH. A self confessed celtic supporter, I hope he doesn’t go to the huns.

  13. A quick note of thanks to whoever it was on CQN who suggested (as a novice) I read Jeremy Bowen’s thoughts for a balanced perspective on the Middle East.

Always cynical Re BBC coverage of anything I was a bit sceptical but as I am traveling in the region for a few weeks and I am aware of my lack of real understanding of much of the recent history, I thought it worth getting a wee bit of insight.

As well as updating myself with a lot of perspective from a broad range of podcasts I have just finished Bowens recent book ‘The Modern Middle East’ which is a fantastic (often first hand) account of 30 years of time spent in the region. It must be a huge challenge for him to retain the objectivity he has throughout his work.

Thanks to whoever it was who suggested it. I know it is not the answer. I don’t really know the question. I know there are loads of educated folk on here who will be critical of it for sure but for me this was a great start in trying to understand so many of the complexities of this totally incredible part of the world.

Today I am in Oman. The oldest independent Arab state and also one of the oldest inhabited places in the world. A bit weird bordered by Saudi, Yemen and UAE and just across the strait from Iran. Seems a pretty happy place though. No threat of referees going on strike or such nonsense.

Good afternoon all from Nassau. Not changed much since I was here in the 80s. A few Celtic shirts on show and bloody roasting 🔥 🥵.

  15. AT/Hamilton time

My knowledge of Croatia is mostly of the Istria region in the North rather than Dubrovnik in the south so I have no recommendations from experience in that region.

The standard of hotel accommodation is high. Anything 4 star or above will be good.

Valamar or Maistra groups are the leaders. I would advise to look at them.

It’s been a few years, but I stayed in the Bellevue Hotel Dubrovnik a couple of times.

It’s a half mile or so outside of the walled city – so either a stroll or bus ride – but is/was high standard and also had a private bay and beach if you fancied a quiet spell outside of the city.

Split is just stunning IMHO with its well preserved Roman and medieval architecture. The most famous attraction in Split is Diocletian’s Palace a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the complex contains some of the best preserved Roman architecture in the world

it’s hard not to be blown away by this place.
