Moan all you want about refereeing decisions but the most damning statistic today was the number of saves the St Mirren keeper was forced to make
“If you’re good enough, the referee doesn’t matter.”

Jeez, are we hard to watch, or what? Commons gives us a great start, and instead of pushing on to make refereeing decisions irrelevant, we revert to type.
Every single outfield player for the Paisley Club ran their guts out for 90 minutes. We did not.
A few questions for Neil:
Why, when we lose Victor, do we defend so high up the park? Why, when we break, do we do it so slowly? Why are we virtually incapable of putting a shot or header at goal? Why were there so many punts upfield direct to Goodwin? Why were Charlie’s first 3 corners all identically inept? Why doesn’t Lenny do something to adjust during games? And why, oh why, does he give Tony Watt just a few useless seconds on the park? He puts in a lot more effort than Hooper, Stokes or Sammi.
Finally, does anyone know why Chuckles Green was in the stand wearing a St. Mirren tie?

I am just waiting on kev jungle for a treble, the first two have just came up
Never a dull moment when a Scottish referee is in control, eh?
I have just seen Alanmac’s highlights (thanks GG). They confirm my view that a red card was harsh and the penalty was a joke. My first live viewing of their disallowed goal suggested to me a clear and intended foul by their player but Sammi’s hand ball error did seem a clear penalty.
We were not great today but it was an exciting match. McGowan, Newton and Teale played well for them. Beram Kayal, Victor and Izzy showed drive and determination for us. There is a need for improvement in Ledley, Stokes and Hooper.
The league will be won after the split against a top 6 side.
I will celebrate like mad when it happens.

Many thanks to CRC and pals for my ticket today, and to Senor Pablo Diablo for his company also:)
There has been a real end of term feel post-Juve, has infected the players and some of the fans also.
Scottish football will never revive unless the refereeing issue is tackled. Why bother paying good money to watch a sporting contest which can be artificially skewed by the bias or incompetence or whim of a rotten official?
Hail, hail

Connolly, a bit of a hero for me… And theres few of them… His quote in current times, is interesting
“If you remove the English army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle, unless you set about the organization of the Socialist Republic your efforts would be in vain. England would still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country and watered with the tears of our mothers and the blood of our martyrs.” Shan Van Vocht January, 1897.

Looking at the league table, if the top 6 stays as it is we are due home games against 4 of the remaining five teams.
We would definitely be away to Kilmarnock but having to make a 3rd away trip to either Motherwell, Ross County, ICT or St Johnstone.
What a farcical setup.

Another quote from the great man take a wee bit of notice of the first line.
“Without fans who pay at the turnstile, football is nothing. Sometimes we are inclined to forget that. The only chance of bringing them into stadiums is if they are entertained by what happens on the football field.”

Did our players come off that pitch today in the full knowledge that they gave absolutely everything and had no more left in the tank? Doubt it. Whilst I appreciate Lenny will want to publicly back the players, the standard was quite simply unacceptable and the fans deserve better. Too many jerseys have shrunk to fit inferior players in my view.
if you were at the game today, you would have seen Kayal at the forefront of all the necessary pressing that we did. You would have seen him exhorting the troops to maintain discipline and effort. And you would have seen 3 gorgeous slip passes in the first 15 minutes, one to Hooper should have led to a goal. His was a driving performance of a born leader.
Mind you Scott Brown gets the cheap “headless chicken” jibe too. It is equally ill deserved. We would have lost today’s game without Kayal & Izzy.
