Stand up for the Champions

I know when you begin to dominate a championship that when another team eventually lift the trophy it can seem like an intolerable failure; compare our distress in 2009 to our resolve to do better after the final home game in 1996.  Time adds perspective to our triumphs.  As does not being there and seeing photos of the presentation hours after the event.

These are special times, enjoy them.

Many thanks to the Columba Club in Blantyre for Friday night’s Question and Answer event, and to the irrepressible Phil Agnew, who organised the event.  I was delighted to share a stage with Paul McConville and Phil Mac Giolla Bhain.  Great to see so many CQN’ers there too, my only regret is that I didn’t get a chance to catch up with everyone. With supporters like those in Blantyre on Friday night, we’re in good hands.

Remember to buy Heart of a Lion, Willie Wallace’s magnificent autobiography, available below.

Not a target man but Matej Vydra (Watford) looks a fine prospect. Probably a queue for him but would hope we’d be in the frame. Good player.

As the sun( I know!) sets on another season we can reflect on one fact: Celtic face next season with confidence, sevco are donald ducked! ( two facts!)

Matej Vydra was on Celtic radar few years back. His agent is Andrej Chovanec, same guy who sold Milan Misun to Celtic.

Thanks for the info. Shame we didn’t take a chance in him a few years back.

Would imagine he’d be out of our price range now. What do you think 5-6 million?

Amazing that the BBC panel criticises the assault on Lustig more than Uncle Tom Andy Walker.

  13. I think Mikael can feel very unfairly treated by being booked for expecting the referee to apply the rules and protect him, that yellow should be rescinded..

  14. Cant beleive bbc showed us gettin the trophy..neils speach”unbroken history”bit in it and mikel lustich being assaulted..somethings gone wrong there??well said michael stewart”clear intent”by wright on lustich

I don’t know what would be the price?

I just checked chovanecsport website.I hear that Vydra was best Championship player of 2012.

When Vydra was on Celtic radar, Chovanec worked close with the agents from Italy. Vydra was about to sign the contract with one from Italy (Udinese?)That’s what I remember from the web site. Chovanec sent at least two young guys for trials to Celtic at that time but I do not think Vydra was one of them.

How is your pal that just lost his dog, I was thinking of him earlier.

  17. praecepta

I was thinking the same. However, the ref booked them both for the “afters”. It will be interesting to see if they take further action or if they’ll decide that he has been “punished enough” – as that is all the rage this season!

    Neil’s words..

“The problem is, I went to watch Burnley last year to see Jay Rodriguez. He ended up going to Southampton for £7m & he had never played in the Premier League. We just can’t do that. I don’t know what Charlie’s valuation would be. He is a player we like but whether we could afford him is another matter.”- Neil Lennon on Charlie Austin.

Lustig got booked after he chased Wright to halfway line to confront him. When did Wright get booked? The original incident was past – ball was back in play.

Confrontation was in effect – 2nd phase?
