Stinging response required

201

Last time Celtic were at Easter Road was a bit of a horror show.  Daizen Maeda was sent off, while Scott Bain failed to make the most of a rare start in goal as the hosts scored four.  The game meant nothing as the title was already won and Celtic were preparing for the Scottish Cup Final, but the scoreline should sting the players into a response tomorrow.

After a brutal elimination from the Europa Conference League against Aston Villa, Hibs went on a six-game unbeaten run, culminating in a draw at Tynecastle after being two goals down.  That form hit the skids at Ibrox last week, where they lost four without reply.

Adrenaline is still pumping from Wednesday night and legs will still be restoring energy levels after being depleted well before the end of the Atletico game.  Players are not machines, they cannot switch it on just because they want to.  Brendan Rodgers abilities will be called on today and before kick-off to make sure the performance is high enough.

I would like to see Tomoki Iwata, Gustaf Lagerbielke and Oh start.  Oh scored in that horror show in May; it would be a good place for him to pick up from and look to open his account for the season.

  1. Too many changes Paul67, unless injuries have been picked up. Play the best players in form and when out of sight, bring on the subs as the core team tires.

Kyogo to start, Scales’s jersey among a sea of available CHs and Bernardo in for Hatate.

    0-6 the good ghuys.

Be a tough game for sure, but if we have the right attitude and are anywhere near our best quality-wise we should have no real problem in picking up the three points. Not sure I’d be making too many changes though.

Not having a go at anyone, but reading the comments between mod88 and some posters reminded me of a line from that well known Norse hero and philosopher, Hagar the Horrible.

He said “ I believe in moderation in all things. Particularly moderation.”

    Paul67

Back to the start of the path that leads to the CL.

Agree we should rotate, but doubt BR will split CCV and Scales with Lagerbielke, who wasn’t in the squad at Tynecastle. Kyogo was hobbling at the end on Wednesday, so might warm the bench.

    Bernardo for Hatate again.

  5. After the Lazio game I suggested on here, when in the lead and tiring, we should go 3-5-2 reverting to 4-4-2 or even 5-3-2 when having to defend. My suggestion raised no response whatsoever.

Brendan does exactly that on Wednesday and he’s saluted for his change.

I think he reads our comments on here

    You’re welcome Brendan

Hello again all you young rebels.

First off and most importantly “ Happy Birthday “ to

    TINY TIM.

After what seems like a million years of pleasure supporting

our team, they never fail to surprise us all with another mind

blowing performance, against what I thought was a great

    European team.

The bhoys played with a passion and what looked like a will

to win for everyone of those crazy supporters in the stands

    around them.

That’s my kind of Celtic, some can pick and be fickle about

various tactics, players, etc, but c’mon ghuys wasn’t that

    fekin awesome ?

On to the Hibbies now, I’m expecting a comprehensive win,

no negativity 5-0 to the bhoys.

Annnnd … OH to play and OH for a hat trick

What’s in that rid biddy I’m drinkin 💚🇮🇪

  7. Paul 67,

    Agree.

Our players are not machines and the level of intensity on Wednesday night will play its toll.. We have a massive squad for a reason. If we cannot utilise the squad now, then when ?

We had 13 players listed as potential substitutions on Wednesday night. ( in the old days thats a first 11 and 2 subs )

We mentioned last week that Oh in particular deserves a chance. Saturday is the perfect opportunity.

Kyogo was burst on Wednesday after giving his all. If BR wanted a straight forward for forward sub could Oh have stepped up to the mark. ?

We need to find out, starting tomorrow.

No disrespect and no complacency, but Hibs are no Atletico Madrid.

Thank god we don’t have Scales sticking to Connor Salmon

    now.

  9. Play your best players PAul, when fit and when available. Sub early by all means if the job is done.

    No tinkering for me

    ……………….

Absolutely agree with you. Play our strongest team, blow them away and give longer game time to those named by Paul but not until the job’s done. Wholesale changes from the start never work out for us. Bernardo for Hatate will suffice.

Scales could eat fish any day of the week

I am tired of all the fish puns already, enough with this carp. I come on hear looking to have a whale of a time ( I know) and maybe give the occasional trout out to our bold Bhoys. Please no more of this nonsense and lets get back to the topic and stop floundering around

  14. No.No. No.

Do not rest your best players for a trip to Easter Road.

Rotate at home against cannon fodder. Do not do it at Easter Road.

  15. Cod almighty – I’ve haddock up to here with these puns which are reely doing my snapper in, please mullet over before you poisson the plaice with any moray fishy puns.

Re on-pitch matters, it’s an opp to let Liam rest up given the game intensity he’s had to endure of late.

We are spoiled for midfield numbers but it doesnt look like Holm or Turnbull are convincing to Brendan.

Re Oh, I guess we have to give him a run tomorrow to see if he can deputise esp if Kyogo seems drained.
