Strict Liability, for you, but not for me

454

The Scottish Government yesterday suggested the SFA act unilaterally to introduce Strict Liability on the game, making clubs liable for the actions of their lunatic fringe, or else the government would impose measures. This is a curious stance for a government who are not prepared to accept ANY liability for their own lunatic fringe.

When the lunatics in charge only see other people’s lunatics, we’re all in trouble. And it should be noted, lunatics inhibiting a democracy cause vastly more damage than football fans fighting on a field once every 36 years.

The notion of Strict Liability in itself is a separate question, but I have serious concerns at the increasingly right wing, and selective, attitude to law and control at Holyrood.

If you want to impose Strict Liability on football, accept if for yourself first. Then come back after a year’s experience and talk to us about football.  This, of course, will never happen.  Not all lunatic fringes are equal.

  1. Sunshine over Lower East Kilbride

Received instruction from Waffen Command first thing, ‘To mow that lawn!!!’……..’ words this happy Celtic supporter does not look forward to hearing every other summers day

So with the cruel words of Matron still, literally, ringing in his ears, he made his way down to the shed to face his electrical nemesis…………………………

Being an ever hopeful sort indulged in the pleasant fiction that someone may have stolen the ‘orange devil complete with its long trailing orange tail’ over the long harsh winter, but no, such a flimsy whimsy was swiftly and cruelly dashed………..there was the said bete noir lurking with latent malice, almost smiling at the sunshine, looking up at may saying.

No gazebo till August for you bhoy, get said a88e in full summer gear.

“JJ, could you please provide a synopsis of all the legal cases outstanding/ results due? I enjoyed your legal updates several months ago but I’ve lost count of what’s left/ key dates and the possible effects.”

When I originally received this request, I responded that today’s listing at Glasgow’s High Court of Justiciary was the only current business:

HMA v David GRIER 03-JUN-16 Preliminary Hearing Continued SCS/2015-152941 CO14000356 Glasgow HC

HMA v Craig WHYTE 03-JUN-16 Preliminary Hearing Continued SCS/2015-152941 CO14000356 Glasgow HC

HMA v Gary WITHEY 03-JUN-16 Preliminary Hearing Continued SCS/2015-152941 CO14000356 Glasgow HC

I am aware that there is a possibility of an interesting hearing coming down the pike with the following list of respondents: Imran Ahmad, Charles Green, Brian Stockbridge, Derek Llambias, Mike Ashley and SDI retail. However until this morning I was not aware of this curio in The Chancery Division, The Royal Courts of Justice, London:

    HEARING ROOM 1

    Before MASTER PRICE

    Friday 3rd June 2016

    At 2 o’ clock

Sevco 5088 Limited v Green and others

There have also been similar hearings going back as far as 13th December 2012. The most recent listing was on 26th February of this year. As one might expect there is a connection between what has become known as The Fraudco matter, and the Sevco 5088 petitions. That connection is Craig Whyte and someone listed as a witness in The Fraudco matter, Aidan Earley.

Is it possible that Mr Whyte or Mr Earley, or both, are seeking some recompense for Mr Green’s ‘switcheroo‘? Everyone is aware of the fact that Sevco 5088, a company that Mr Green has done his utmost to close down, had the agreement with Duff & Phelps to buy the basket of assets that was purchased by Charles Green’s Sevco Scotland, and that funds raised by Sevco 5088 found themselves in the bank account of Sevco Scotland, or some other bank controlled by Mr Green.

During the preliminary hearings of the Fraudco matter there have been some interesting takeaways in regard to convicted criminal Dave King that are currently covered by reporting restrictions, but will be brought to light on this site should the preliminary hearings that resume in Glasgow his morning not reach trial. One would be surprised if counsel representing Mr Whyte had not gleaned some more information to assist the cause of Sevco 5088.

All eyes are on Glasgow this morning, therefore the curious matter of Sevco 5088 will go unreported.

I must say I have been impressed by Brendan’s musings thus far.

He seems to have a genuine excitement for the task ahead, and a genuine feeling for Celtic.

Either that or he is very professional.

    Either works for me :)

  18. Much as I would love to see Zlatan signing for Celtic, it aint going to happen. The idea that he is on a free transfer is nonsense as it has been stated that he wants an 8 million pounds signing fee and then you can look to meet his wage demands after that.
