When Anthony Stokes picked himself off the ground having won a penalty yesterday his eagerness for a piece of the action was clear. Having missed the majority of the season through injury he is a player with a point to prove.
The penalty correctly went to Kris Commons but Anthony still had an opportunity to remind us what a valuable player he can be. He is not the strongest or most skilful player at the club but he is a natural goal-scorer.
Competition for a place in Celtic’s attack has seldom been more acute. Lassad, Miku, Samaras, Stokes and Watt are all pressing for a place alongside Gary Hooper. Each of them will have to consider the possibility of new arrivals in the summer, when securing a place in the squad, never mind the starting line-up, will be a challenge.
Anthony’s return to fitness, and form, is a timely reminder of what he brings to Celtic, and what we have missed once or twice this season.
On Friday 1 March the Lisbon Lions will be at the Kerrydale Suite providing commentary and answering questions on their magnificent European Cup final win in 1967. This has never happened in 46 years since that game, to say it is a unique opportunity fails to tell the whole story.
The event is part of our 125 4 125 campaign – central to reinvigorating the charitable spirit which is part of the club we love. It will be a family occasions, tickets are available at £10 for adults and £5 for children. The night has been organised by several fans working in conjunction with the people at Celtic Charity, so please do your best to support this great occasion. Individual tickets or tables are available, details here.

Why don’t the GB produce a list of every arrest that has been made at CP or in relation to Celtic and the outcome. Names can be redacted, it would show how many of them are being targeted repeatedly, for what and the end result.
Shouldn’t be too hard and it would back up their case no end.

Evening all.
I love the spectacle that they GB bring to games, the last OF game was brilliant display and the Barca game was unforgettable, BUT
1. I agree with Stringer Bell – I don’t feel I have sufficient information yet although it all seems very strange. PL is no fool, so why would he simply want to pick a fight with a hugely popular element of his own support?
2. I think Celtic are in a no win situation. Put simply, the Club cannot be seen to go against the law of the land. End Of. Does anyone really think that the Club can go public and take up the GB complaints, as in complain IN PUBLIC I mean, really? And take it up with who?
3. That said, I do think Celtic should open a dialogue (in private) with the GB to set out the issues and agree a way forward.
4. Do the GB need to play smarter in this? They cant take on the Authorities head to head (cos that’s how it looks) and win. As a group of supporters, the GB give the team fabulous support and i love what they bring to match days. However, if they want to be more than that, a political movement, then they should take the politics elsewhere. I go to Celtic Park for a great football experience, and the GB add to that significantly. However, I don’t want it to be a political experience for me. The GB don’t represent my views, whether in relation to Remembrance Sunday, The Middle East or Ireland. I do have strong views on each of those, but they are mine and I wouldn’t dream of imposing them on anyone else.
Like it or not, the GB’s profile is such that it is seen as representative of the support and that brings responsibility with it. By that i mean that The GB’s actions impact on how Celtic are viewed in wider society, whether good or bad for example – Flares and Fek UEFA
5. Before rushing to judgement and ripping up my season ticket, I need much more information and in particular, where PL and Celtic are on this. So far, we only have one view being pushed aggressively.
I want the full picture before making any decisions. Therefore I would be very interested to hear feedback from the earlier poster who’s at a fans meeting with PL tomorrow night.
CRC,

That’s what gets me, the GB have some awful PR. Surely someone within the group has some brains (no offence), no c*** bhoy posting their official statement, record everything that they do then complain to the right people and post it on all Celtic fans websites. It’s not really that difficult to get everyone on their side.
Tony Stokes well worth another contract. 20 plus goals a season , no problems , if injury free

I was serious, list them save us all the bother.
All i’ve seen tonight is the usual posters on both sides argue back and forth, if there’s huns out them.
SFTB. 21.10.
Excellent post.
Terrific post, The Quiet Man
So previous legislation didn’t have the rules in place to arrest us for sectarian singing so they changed it to offensive.

In addition to my last post. You and others who blame Peter Lawwell and say that Green Brigade is 100 % percent right.
An question.
Do you think Peter Lawwell should make his statement on “C**t Bhoy” letter?
Would you like to see the headlines in the newspapers telling us about the exchnge of the words between Chef Executive of that famous Celtic FC and “C**t Bhoy” ? Yes, or No?
Just think, in what light it puts your club? Who did it?

I agree. Vote with season tickets. I was doing that at the last renewal ,about sevco, and lost my usual seat which I’d held since Fergus built the new ground. This time I don’t care. I’ve missed enough games through re-arrangements that it will be better that I pick and choose my games.
If the GB are out of Parkhead then so am I.
I didn’t agree with the firecrackers at the start of the Juve game. That was infantile.
The actions of the police, however, makes me want to spew. Go out and get some real criminals you pathetic bunch of wasters. You are too scared to tackle the gangsters blighting Scottish society. No wonder parts of British society decide to take law and order into their own hands.
My answer to my question is : I would say no word if I were Peter Lawwell.
mickbhoy @ 21.04
I do not think Phil’s revelation contradicts my statement for the following reasons
I explicitly referred to the fight by parties entering through the turnstiles rather than the flares issue.
I did not say that every GB member had a clean sheet with no offences against them merely that the GB operate as a group at home games only. Some individuals, from within GB ranks, may well be inclined to bring flares to an away match but they do not do so with GB approval or encouragement.
There is a small group of fans at away matches with whom I have a disagreement but I doubt they are GB minded given their racist outbursts and anti-protestant chanting. They also besmirch a label of Irish republicanism by their behaviour and the banner they operate under but I will not specifically name and shame them on here.
Doc..,
I sit corrected apologies, I should have checked my facts :o)
However the crux of the matter I think, was that it was a trumped up lie which the board refused to contest as it suited their agenda.

On my post on page 1, I asked for a prominent supporter to be appointed as an intermediary.
My suggestion was to use a Church luminary as I believe their is a distinct element of Catholic / Irish persecution at play here.
However, having read his experiences, maybe the intermediary should be Zbyscek. Apologies for the spelling.

2 very different solutions to the problems we are currently facing. It is a bit strange that when Celtic are on the verge of getting back to their former Glories we are now standing at the precipice
Divide and Conquer.
I don’t disagree with either solutions. We Must find out the full facts first.
I am really annoyed my Son witnesses Police stopping Celtic fans and harrassing them, especially as there is really no need at all.
I ask one pertinent question.
With what is happening would you not allow your Son/Daughter to join the Green Brigade if it would affect his/her career prospects?
My Son loves watching and listening to the Green Brigade as much as he loves watching the games. It is fascinating for him, especially being seated and him being shy.

More pertinent, “would you want your son or daughter to join the polis?”
BBC at there best no mention by the panel of Masons even an Italian, whit chance hive we goat, bring back Scotsport.

Penalty omitted.
Papa John, true, great tackle by Adam, not a peep from the panel.
I loved the paper report of our game, they agreed it wasn’t a penalty.
Their ref watch said – only the ref in the stadium thought it was penalty but at least he made a quick decision :O)
Where do you start with that.

Hope the getaway car is working
Snatch or Gremlins??
CRC, revved up.
It must feel like a police state if you are a member of the GB at present though.
And I do think its politically motivated.
If you still have a ticket for the 1st next week let me know, I’ll ask Cowiebhoy if he fancies it.
Don’t hold the ticket though, he may not.

Nothing wrong with commenting on controversy, maybe posting at these times arises from a protective
nature for Celtic, but facts are facts and at the risk of being budgiesque, but for the benefit of anti Celtic
lurkers who frequent this site ‘pro IRA songs’ are no longer sung at Celtic Park, either in groups such
as the GB, or by any other communal singers.
I hope we’ve reached a point where the Celtic support receive some communication, about a relatively very small
group of fans, who should remain very firmly embraced within the family.
Anyway good night to you, and Russia
Hail Hail
p.s. I have one darts player sized Celtic top, to which, you are more than welcome but I’ll tell
John Clark you were asking for him
Knew the outrageous penalty decision wouldn’t be discussed……….any complaints will be given the ‘usual’ not enough time excuse, yet they found time to show a few killie goals not relevant to yesterday.
Totally scunnered with this country and the hurtin’ huns………been back here 3 years……torture.
HASTA LA VICTORIA SIEMPRE
Hoping tomorrow the lns inquirery will come out with an honest result.
Hope as in i don’t think so…cheating b******s.
