Having pummelled Newco repeatedly this season there is a notion that we’re going to do it again on Sunday. I’d be tempted to hold that result. St Mirren, an inferior team, demonstrated for 57 minutes how far blanket defending and a bit of organisation can take you. If Celtic record an impressive result at the weekend, they will have to be at the peak of their powers.
We can expect Newco will have watched replays of the opening 20 minutes of our Hogmanay tie dozens of times recently. They will do their best to capture what worked for them during that period, and attempt to replicate it on Sunday.
We started slowly that day, which is not entirely out of character, but one or two also looked spooked by the occasion. Newco started on the front foot, again, something they repeatedly do, but just as they have done throughout the season, they soon ran out of steam.
There is not a great deal they will be able to do about Moussa Dembele, short of cutting off supply to him. As a consequence, they will stick tight to Scott Sinclair, who will have work to do to even get involved in the game, never mind hurt the opposition. This is no bad thing, as while Scott is our most productive player, the team will be full of players hungry and capable of hurting the Newco defence.
This is a game which could be in the balance with 15 minutes remaining, but which Celtic could score three times in the closing period. They have the superior fitness and mental fortitude.
Our greatest danger will be from officialdom. Conceding a penalty, a red card, or both, opens the only door possible for Newco to take anything from the game. Keep cool heads as we’ll do just fine.

St Aidan’s , yes. Not St Aidens !!! You would have got 6 of the belt for that.
Don’t know the people you mention, to be honest I don’t look at monikers , I may well know them but don’t recognise them from the “names”.
Moving Hearts live at the Fruitmarket on BBC Alba.

If memory serves me well, Davie Hay wanted to sign Joe and Stevie Clarke but the board told him he would have to use his own money.
*Allegedly John McGinn’s grampa told Davie that. Cost us the League that season.

I totally realise your view on this fixture, I was typing about the 1989 final earlier, that day me & 3 pals had to hide in a Pakstani’s shop as we thought as daft teenagers we would walk it to queen street from Hampden, thank goodness the marauding Huns went by the shop and didn’t enter, we thought it was a pure laugh, I now shudder thinking about it……. BUT don’t ever let the bams influence your love of Celtic……. old firm, Huns, Sevs, clowns, whatever form they take remember one thing, tomorrow is about Celtic, not Brendan, not Moussa, not Broony….. Just Celtic, whether you agree or not don’t let the cheats take your enjoyment of Celtic away
The day we humped them 5-1 earlier in the season I crossed paths with the hun that lives in a valley a few miles away from me, I made a point of crossing his path the other twice we have played them this season and today I made the pilgrimage again to cross his path, bodes well for another hun humping me thinks and prays, as ever he didny want to talk football.
Mrs TET had our latest addition to the pack with us today, our little Dire Wolf pup, anyways yer hun man said to his Mrs that he could have the pup if she wanted him, now Mrs TET canny stand him, she asked him why he thot she would let a beautiful dog go to someone who would march the goodness out of her, well, he wisny to pleased and was lost for words so Mrs TET got tore into him, it was a joy to watch, but fair play to the hun, he sat and took it, he had no choice right enough, fair made my day.

Big Tam Mc Adam was aye good for a goal against the monkeys.
I’ve got a picture of me and him holding the Scottish cup lying around somewhere we were at the Johnstone Celtic supporters player of the year dance in the Johnstone town hall.
I think it was after the 79/80 cup final George Mc Cluskey and aw that.

There is a wonderful thread on rangers media where one of their resident geniuses has came up with a great way of making sure Pedro is a success.
He’s suggests selling McKay and Foderinghay for £12m and giving this to Brother Pedro to strengthen.(£6m each)
Actually he starts by saying their goalie should go for £10m, since that is what Fraser Forster went for, but for the sake of argument he says he will settle for the conservative figure of £6m.
!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another one of their retinue of rocket scientists recognises the merits of this idea.
In essence he says the goalkeeper and McKay aren’t that good and would be easily replaced.
Yip.
They think they will sell two players they admit themselves are shit for £12m.
No wonder their first club died.
Deluded stupid huns.
Ps then the cup final

I’m going tomorrow as the wee fella (all 6’3″ of him) wants to attend this game. I took him to thistle home and away but apparently not the Glasgow derby that he is able to wind up his pals about.
Hate the fixture. Been in your position.a couple of times. On one occasion came out a little less fortunate than you.
Dirty ducking beer stewards. But that’s Huns for you even if they do follow a new team.
And they are champs league equivalent to oor PLC.

Pedro Caixinha: “How Did I Get Here?”
https://theclumpany.wordpress.com/2017/03/11/pedro-caixinha-how-did-i-get-here/
Any Celtic fans in Dublin. Just been to Bad ass cafe they are not showing the game tomorrow, sister bar Kennedy’s in Drumcondra will show it with music afterwards. Almore hope your brother enjoys his visit to paradise
JMcCormick,
Thankfully they had banned the belt the year i went into 1st year :-)
However, I agree the spelling……but in my defence i did say St Aidan’s, it was Adi-Dasler who made the “E” comment.
Just realised that I grassed Adi in there, that would have been a much worse offence than getting the belt!!
Apols Adi :-)

Ah, Helicopter Thursday, I was there…my trophy was five stitches in my left wrist.
True story:
All the way back to Coatbridge, circa 02:00, gets off the Bus holding a bottle of beer, trip on a kerb, smashed the bottle of beer, thought nothing more and started to walk home, halfway home my mate takes a look, hey Lennybhoy your bleeding, he wrapped my scarf around my wrist, walked the rest of the way, shouts on the wife who was not amused about being woken up. Informs her of the injury. She patched me up with a bandage. Got to bed, up at around 10:00, continues drinking, got to the Clock Bar around 11:00, there for the afternoon. Home, pashed , took a curry in, finished curry, wife says better look at the wrist, bandage off, still bleeding. Off to the Monklands, five stitches in my wrist…only consolation was it wasn’t my good arm, you’ll know where I’m coming from…:)
All true and one of the best nights and following days I have had in following the Celtic, took me about 21 hours from the time of the injury to getting patched up, oh and I was still pashed when they patched me up…:)
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!

I am a total hypocrite Miss GFTB says I would like to go to a Celtic v Rangers game, my words no blinking way, the young team love it, I know for a fact my scheme will be buzzing the morra, am afraid it is what it is, I usually go over to Blantyre for these games and mingle with Celtic bhoys in their 60s & 70s not internet punters and although they have the same views as most, this game is still a big deal…….irony for me is I will be “worshipping” in the Church of Scotland 11.30am-12.30pm, and all my mates think this is hilarious, but my wee granddaughter is far more important than even Celtic :-)
Hi Bhoys
Just seen an advert that explains how Pedro got his job it’s an app called Job Today.

Gerry, between 1980 -1983 Charlie was our darling but sadly no more.
when we tried to sell Jimmy McGrory to Arsenal, he refused to go to them. He said McGrory of Arsenal doesn’t sound as good as McGrory of Celtic. One of the best comments I have ever heard.

Is oor Pedro going to Lisbon with the CQN Glitterati?
Tony, Tom McAdam was our post war top scorer, against the horribles until some guy from Sweden with dreadlocks signed for us, scored quite often against them. .
Tom was a very good defender for . Another player not given the credit he deserves.
My bhoy and his pals over from Ireland for the game…had to give a couple of them a lecture on deidco n Newco…they just want to see us pump them..Im the same…but my da was down earlier he’s as pumped as any of them. “It’s no just the team..it’s their board..Supporters…the media and orange bassas here n Ireland that every fibre in me wants to see them pumped..” I echo that with deidco and the new frankenclub…3-0 good ghuys n Madhun to save it from being 6/7

We only have two more meaningful games, the Semi-Final and the Final. The remaining League games are only relevant as we need to play them until we make it mathematically impossible for the sheep to catch us.

Tam and his brother Colin RIP were Kingsway flats boys. Colin stayed on Alderman Road after retiring. I met him often and he did me a few favours in getting big game tickets. Tam was a good player for us.
