Teenage Matthews excels on Celtic right

1021

The most interesting point to make about Adam Matthews is that, for another month anyway, he is still a teenager.  You and I have seen enough of these games to know that the occasion has a habit of consuming inexperienced youth but Adam patrolled Celtic’s right with remarkable authority last night.  All the more remarkable considering this was his first game back after injury.

Football business for 2011 is finished and new signing, Swedish international right back, Mikael Lustig (25), is now available for selection.  At 6’3” Mikael has previously played in central defence but Neil Lennon insisted the player was primarily recruited as a right back but, despite the rate Celtic right backs pick up injuries, the need appears greater in central defence.  It’s hard to see Adam Matthews losing the right back berth.

Sources close to the player consider it unlikely that he will be at RFC after mid January.

  5. The piece by Matthew Lindsay in the et is laughable. Apparently there were “farcical scenes” last night over their disallowed goal. Which wasn’t even disallowed as no-one noticed it, including their players…

Is it just me, or is it really only when Celtic win that the media declare O** F*** games poor quality? On the other hand, when the Huns win, they always seem to be described as, “crackers,” in the media. Why is that?

If you think Matthew Lindsay was hurting at the Huns defeat, try and get a hold of Stephen McGowan’s report in the Daily Mail

He is feeling the pain so much he thought the Huns deserved a point! After 1 shot on target in the whole game?

    Hey lads

I’ve just been putting the finishing touches to some CQN stuff, and I thought I’d share a wee lyrical gem with you that I intend to use at some stage.

And a style she’s trying to maintain.

Well, if she wants to see me,

You can tell her that I’m easily found,

Tell her there’s a spot out ‘neath Abram’s Bridge,

And tell her, there’s a darkness on the edge of town.

    Everybody’s got a secret, Sonny,

Something that they just can’t face,

Some folks spend their whole lives trying to keep it,

They carry it with them every step that they take.

Till some day they just cut it loose

Cut it loose or let it drag ’em down,

Where no one asks any questions,

or looks too long in your face,

In the darkness on the edge of town.

Some folks are born into a good life,

Other folks get it anyway, anyhow,

I lost my money and I lost my wife,

Them things don’t seem to matter much to me now.

Tonight I’ll be on that hill ’cause I can’t stop,

I’ll be on that hill with everything I got,

Lives on the line where dreams are found and lost,

I’ll be there on time and I’ll pay the cost,

For wanting things that can only be found

In the darkness on the edge of town.”

    “Two bad lots”.

To repeat what I posted last night.

We broke their will. It was apparent during the last fifteen minutes, when they lost their discipline and saw a glimpse of their future.

Having said that, they are always a hard team to beat and should never be written off in any individual game; but, as a club, they are in a very dark place.

  24. As bad as Healy’s assault on JF was, I think Elbows McCulloch was guilty of an even worse offence. His follow-through on Beram was a potential leg-breaker and it was only his simulation after the tackle that saved him from a red card – plus the fact that Collum was the referee.

Ridiculous commentary of the year award must surely go to the clown on BBC who described the Celtic goal as “the Old Firm breakthrough” .

I would not agree with you. Jelavic is heartless player who lost sense in playing for that poor team. I honesty hope he stays with them until the rest of the season, continues to ruin their finances. At the end of the season he will cost 2 millions.

In his last interview for the Croatian press he told that bench for Croatia team does not scare him. Top of his dreams now.

  28. I like us playing with a 4-3-3 going to a 4-5-1 when defending.

My choice would be Stokes upfront and a midfield of (assuming everybody is fit)

    Forrest Kayal Wanyama Ledley Samaras

second choice would be Hooper upfront with.

    McCourt Brown Ki Commons Stokes

However with the our new RB arriving on Sunday Matthews could also play in wide right in midfield as well.
