Teenage Matthews excels on Celtic right

1021

The most interesting point to make about Adam Matthews is that, for another month anyway, he is still a teenager.  You and I have seen enough of these games to know that the occasion has a habit of consuming inexperienced youth but Adam patrolled Celtic’s right with remarkable authority last night.  All the more remarkable considering this was his first game back after injury.

Football business for 2011 is finished and new signing, Swedish international right back, Mikael Lustig (25), is now available for selection.  At 6’3” Mikael has previously played in central defence but Neil Lennon insisted the player was primarily recruited as a right back but, despite the rate Celtic right backs pick up injuries, the need appears greater in central defence.  It’s hard to see Adam Matthews losing the right back berth.

  2. Healy had a great purple patch when playing for Norn Iron he is treated as a god over here for that run still but

he hasnt scored in over 2 years for Norn Iron

have a look at his club career – its embarassing

god knows what the cheeky chappy was thinking when he sent on healy, it certaintly wasnt to get a goal – 1 in his illustriuos spell at his boyhood club

the only good people from this part of the world at present are Lenny, The Derry Pele, McGinn and the young guy George

the likes off healy, lafferty, Shiels, lomas, tommy wright et all are what you have the misfortune to stand in on the street sometimes

    Steve Davis meeehhh

  3. Now I thought the LL were the worse for outrageous statements – but the one I’ve just heard on talkSPORT by that trumpet Durham takes some beating.

Says: they will be discussing how ‘thems’ were cheated out of a goal and a result and that the game should be replayed!

A ‘bosom’ of the highest order.

  4. Partizan

Zbyszek comes from Zbigniew. It sounds like Bishek. Zbigniew Boniek who played for Juventus with Platini and later for Roma was Zbyszek. It’s old Polish name. I can imagine people who call me with another names when they don’t see me face to face. I never worry when see wrong spelling here. WGS poster can do more names from these 7 letters than any mathematician could find. Number of those new names made by him is beyond infinity.

First hun on the radio trying to stir fake controversy over Charlie Mulgrew.

Keevins and the panel also saying that making up the gap was the easy part (what??) and also playing down the “15 points” as “we know the gap wasn’t that wide” (oh yes it was, as we are always told the only thing that matters are points on the board) …

You have to love the way they’re getting behind Bartley’s comments. Cause they appear to be missing the trail of logic which says if Bartley is right, that the pressure is all on the leading team, that means Rangers have PROVEN that they are bottlers …

But of course “trail of logic” is never followed to its logical conclusion on this mental show.

My nephew was taught RE by Collum. My nephew is one of life`s really decent guys and does not criticise readily. He said Collum was a twat.

Your nephew not only being a decent guy,but sounds like a good judge of character ;-)

I know Gollum is a RE teacher and always wondered what his pupils thought of him?

Obviously he’s well thought of at the SFA,but begs the question would they let him ref a European game???

You’re right the guy I knew was Zbigniew Wojik, not Zbyszek. Time playing tricks with my memory.

He had lived in Derby for years and I knew him in London about 1985.

I was only making a light-hearted comment to SwanseaBhoy, hope you didn’t think I was out of order.

  10. How come the two deliberate and obvious hand balls didn’t get yellows last night (Jelly was one, Davis? the other).

We know they try to make up for being poor footballers by resorting to Australian rules rough stuff, but is the basketball approach a new tactic?

Anyway, Zbyszek, I say to you, as a compliment, from my experiences wearing the Hoops with pride in Katowice, Warzawa, Lodz, Wroclaw, Poznan, Gdanz, Gdynia, Lublin……

Been a funny sort of year. Health issues mainly (good lady – not me) and a few other issues, but all seems to be on the straight and narrow again.

Re the title – I am nervous. NOT because of them, but I genuinely believe the MIB is gonna hit like a tornado!

  15. Brilliant result last night in tricky conditions. Well done the manager, team and brilliant support, looked no bad…

That should be a real body blow to them, their January fire sale of their dross should be a few more players now unless the SFA give them guarentees of CL qualifier income next season. Sell jelavic (who he?) replace him with Gary O’Connor and sinking further into Hibs/hearts standard players and years of decline.

The Celtic board need to be strong and dont try to be clever this January, make sure we cement this title and make up for three years of underpreformance.

Maybee the plan all along was to let them win these tarnished titles so we could wait til they are at their most vulnerable and then finish them…

  16. Twists

I agree our only genuine hope having seen what we have seen especially these last 5 years is that the younger generation MIB harbours more ambition for himself than his brothers. The future for them is unclear. The expected career path might not be as well defined as it once was if they go belly up. Even a relegation for the hun would upset thier way of executing business. The smarter younger more ambitious MIB it might possibly not escape them. Not holding my breath though.

I noticed that too as I was right in line with Charlie and he kept it going with either Kenny McDowall or someone in the Rangers dug out – it was hard to tell as McDowall was standing in the technical area with his back to me. Charlie had 3 exchanges with the individual in question and each time gave a big cheesy grin.

  19. Maybe if they go on and on about their so-called goal and goal-line technology for long enough, this will get built up into a horrendous mistake by Willie Collum and they won’t give him another derby game. If there ever is another derby game.

  20. Saw a mention on that Twitter last night the animals were let in early to set up their display of old christmas wrappings before the game, anybody know if thats true?

Would hope not, even before seeing pictures of the state of the toilets after the game.
