That’s not an outbreak of Tourettes you hear

No, that’s not an outbreak of Tourettes across small patches in the west of Scotland, it is the long-suffering Newco fans realisation that their board have been breathtakingly incompetent in their attempts to recruit a manager.

In many respects, briefing the media ahead of their two games against Aberdeen and an AGM that Derek McInnes would be installed at Ibrox this week, had the desired effect. The players were sufficiently motivated to out-perform Aberdeen, while Dave King got through the AGM on a nod and a wink. The falsehood of the assertion, however, will surely come at a cost. King will hope that memories fade before he has to face fans again in 51 weeks.

My immediate reaction when I read the ridiculous statement from Newco last night was that their hilarious PR system was at the keyboard while jaked. They spend six weeks targeting McInnes, then, after he rejected them, claimed this was evidence he was not up to the job.

An obscure phrase was used, “concomitant risk”, instead of the more common “associated risk”. There’s a fair bit of research into why people unnecessarily use complex and obscure words instead of simpler alternatives. None of it is flattering.

I assumed the statement was the work of Newco’s shamlessly-brilliant PR operation, but a studious CQN’er emailed this clip of Dave King’s AGM speech last year.

4 minutes 29 seconds in he states they should: “run an operating deficit, without a concomitant event risk that could lead to a repeat of the last few years”. Last night’s statement has Dave’s tones all over it.  Fewer and fewer people compliment the emperor on his new outfit.

A big thanks to teams two and three in the league, who have damaged their positions and/or humiliated themselves, while Celtic have extended their lead at the top of the table.

    Think you called her red Mary. She actually drove the bus from Gaoth Dobhair to nearly every home match. Thom the Tim would know a lot more about her I’m sure. There was a documentary on about her a couple of years ago.

    I found the Anderlecht game very disappointing but…

     

    What I hear about the coaching and vision at Lennoxtown as well as our future signing policy bodes well. We are not hiding behind single ‘glorious’ wins against the elite. No one said it would be easy but I’m on the Brendan Bus.

    Looking forward to tomorrow, haven’t been to Easter Road for a while, it should be a good occasion. A big day for Ntcham i think, he should get the nod. It will be a tough midfield battle in sub zero conditions, he will need to impose himself and show his quality. I don’t think the record will go tomorrow but if and when it does it will be a hard one to take for us all. I for one will be take the view, let’s be glad it happened rather then be sad it’s over. Both teams to score, Celtic to win. HH.

    LurkingTim, I’ll be 70 next month, lost count of the number of coffins I shouldered but what does age & coffins have to do with anything.

     

    Don’t count the days pal, make the days count.

     

    If you enjoy it here keep posting if you are getting a bit fed up of it, (it happens to me now & then), just take a couple of weeks off & come back whenever you feel like it.

    can i just say something im no good at speeches or writing things on the blog like brth auldheid canamalor and my friend mike in toronto. just like to say on this day in 1971 ilost my grandfather a good tim who loved john yogi hughes. you could not say a bad thing about yogi he would be down on you like a ton of bricks. and by the way gerry fae the brig he loved the rovers they were his second team so you get back on this blog or my granda will want to know why. rest in peace peter mcwilliams 1898-1971.hh.
