That’s not an outbreak of Tourettes you hear

715

No, that’s not an outbreak of Tourettes across small patches in the west of Scotland, it is the long-suffering Newco fans realisation that their board have been breathtakingly incompetent in their attempts to recruit a manager.

In many respects, briefing the media ahead of their two games against Aberdeen and an AGM that Derek McInnes would be installed at Ibrox this week, had the desired effect. The players were sufficiently motivated to out-perform Aberdeen, while Dave King got through the AGM on a nod and a wink. The falsehood of the assertion, however, will surely come at a cost. King will hope that memories fade before he has to face fans again in 51 weeks.

My immediate reaction when I read the ridiculous statement from Newco last night was that their hilarious PR system was at the keyboard while jaked. They spend six weeks targeting McInnes, then, after he rejected them, claimed this was evidence he was not up to the job.

An obscure phrase was used, “concomitant risk”, instead of the more common “associated risk”. There’s a fair bit of research into why people unnecessarily use complex and obscure words instead of simpler alternatives. None of it is flattering.

I assumed the statement was the work of Newco’s shamlessly-brilliant PR operation, but a studious CQN’er emailed this clip of Dave King’s AGM speech last year.

4 minutes 29 seconds in he states they should: “run an operating deficit, without a concomitant event risk that could lead to a repeat of the last few years”. Last night’s statement has Dave’s tones all over it.  Fewer and fewer people compliment the emperor on his new outfit.

A big thanks to teams two and three in the league, who have damaged their positions and/or humiliated themselves, while Celtic have extended their lead at the top of the table.

  1. On the train at Queen Street. A few Tims get on miming a few songs, nothing sinister. Guy in opposite row says no singing on this carriage and threatens to alert the Police. What a fud.

  2. Hello again all you young rebels.

Well how do i start, PADDYMACOZ put a post in during the week

about his longtime friend Frank McAleer who had contracted cancer

and was told it was related to his working environment early years,

and with him being a long time pal and you all know Paddy doesn’t

post much, as he said ” you post it Mick you talk better shoite than i do ”

on the blog, i don’t think that was a compliment., anyway so much

covered up by successive governments regarding asbestos etc.

I don’t remember who started the Clydebank blitze post but it really was

terrible viewing, a real eye opener for the young dudes on here.

Anyway as usual i diversify, as a result of that heartfelt post for a friend

lo and behold it led to another post from a relative of Franks, his nephew

and i hope i’m not being too intrusive in family affairs, but it led to him

contacting Frank through CQN after a few years out of touch, now to me

that is what CQN is all about, not these daft arguments, trolls, flouncers

I know all of them just want to be on here amongst the Celtic family, and

for a great Celtic man and member of our club Frank is astonished that

people he doesn’t even know or has met, are even discussing his illness

but that is the power of our blog so kudos to everybody, sometime we

should take a step back and think before we post in anger and i include

    myself in that.

  4. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan on

Good Morning CQN from a frosty Bishopbriggs.

BSR great news about Alex. I have sent him a wee message via facebook and will say a wee Deo Gratias later on today.

Some will remember that I know a man, who knows another man, who knows Eurochamps and also knows that I know him too.

Well the man who knows Eurochamps told the man who doesn’t to tell me that his operation had been successful! Except he forgot, and then remembered, and sent me a message saying “That guy I know, who knows the guy you know, said to tell you that the guy you know, is recovering well from his operation!”

Just as well I know what he is talking about!

Anyway, we have now collected over £2k for the Mary’s Meals appeal for the VOA1 academy in Liberia and the 805 kids I am trying to feed for a year. The Grey Brigade in the Blane Valley gave me another £100 so I have that to add to the total plus some more.

So, who out there in CQN land is willing to take the Hibbee’s challenge and donate £3/ Celtic goal scored today? It costs £13.90 to feed a child for a year and any money donated before 31st December counts as double so essentially between 2/3 goals will feed a child for a year and make a huge difference to one of the poorest communities in the world.

The impact of feeding 805 children while at school has a huge generational impact on areas like this. Without the food, few kids come to school. When I started this appeal some 18 months ago 265 kids went to the school. Now 805 do and if they stay at school and receive an education they learn skills, get jobs, some go to University or start a business and so the whole community improves and progresses.

That is one of the amazing things about Mary’s Meals. It is not just the food, it is the long term social change that regular food and education brings about.

So, if you have a spare couple of quid, it doesn’t matter how small the amount, please help make a change in the lives of folk who are literally starving without your help.

Here is the link to the donations page.

And a huge thanks to all of those who have donated thus far – some of the generosity of spirit has been truly breathtaking.

    Thanks very much.

Apologies if not yourself but if you bet Murty to be next Sev manager Ladbrokes guy on radio Clyde said all high street bookies pay out if interim manager stays in place for 10 games, if it was yourself best of luck “Murts” will be in place for their quest of 4 wins in @ row :-)

and was nutmegged twice in a minute with him

saying ” Jimmy i’m a Cellic supporter gimme a break

and our greatest player ever said ” big mhan just

stay back and send in the nuggets ” i’m assured

most of that is absolutely true.

  14. Good morning CQN,

Fit enough to log in and read back a few pages.

May I thank the CQN community for the prayers and incredible messages of support I, and my family, have received since my situation became known.

I am truly humbled to have been in your thoughts. Thank you.

Status report is : 9 hour operation on Monday to remove cancer from my pancreas, has been successful. I am on the mend, currently exceeding protocols, thanks mainly to the fantastic NHS medical team at Glasgow Royal.

When I was diagnosed 10 weeks ago, I vowed to remain as positive as possible nd fight it all the way. This I have managed only through the incredible support of others.

In your chat last night much was said about funerals and attending them to honour the memory and life of those people who have past.

I must be the luckiest man in the world,

    a) to get an early diagnosis

    But also

    b) to have been in an unbelievably humbling position to understand how my friends have sought so much to assist me

CQN, take the advice of a very fortunate man. Honour your friends and family while we are alive. Rejoice in being with people you love. Tell them.

How much might one manage to raise for Mary’s Meals and the Celtic Foundation if one,

offered a South Stand seat, for each of our next four home games. I’m not going to able to attend them, but anyone wishing to donate to Mary’s Meals can.
