The Juninho EBT

1126

I see several “fans’ groups” are engaged on the subject of our old friend, Juninho, who played around 13 games for Celtic eight years ago and benefited from an Employee Benefit Trust before and during his time at the club.

Can you believe this is where their focus is?

As Sir David Murray and a gaggle of his former directors will tell you, there is nothing illegal in EBTs, it’s the undeclared second contracts the football authorities have a problem with. Juninho’s EBT was not subject to any contract or side letter whatsoever. Moreover, our then chairman, Brian Quinn, regarded EBTs with suspicion and instructed the club to declare Juninho’s to the Revenue. Celtic even paid tax on money paid to the EBT.

The SFA and SPL, and every journalist in Scotland interested in getting a story right, are fully aware of the facts.

I suppose running with this beats looking at links between Green and Whyte. Keep up the good work, guys!

And for the record, stripping titles is not the ultimate sanction, not by the length of Argyle St.

  9. There has been more talk about Spew Heevins on hear tonight than there likely were words that left the ole fools mouth tonight on SSB. Just imagine the ole fart lying tonight beside his missis in bed, her reading CQN to him (since he doesn’t do new media) and him thinking just how successful a master-de-bator he really is.

Without oxygen SSB will die just like the dodo club. His paper will soon die too.

    Don’t feed the troll.

Every comment on here relating to SSB and Spew is evidence of the popularity of SSB when it comes to selling airtime for badverts.

    Resist and let them die.

MWD sometime thinks CQNers are as silly as stupid stupid Sevco fans (x-Huns)

  10. Sevco stuff:

Perspicacious stuff from BRTH. Thankyou. So that’s what’s comin’ down the ole turnpike…

    Seb Coe stuff:

petethebeat, as frankiebhoy said deffo no ID checks on entering Olympic Park and other event venues, tickets are very much transferable. Checked with an ex-Gecko owner who was there tonight…

frankiebhoy, delighted to read your impressions re UJ-waving, patriotism etc.

Much talk down here about the demographics of UK medallists. North v south, private school v public, UK born v immigrant, all somehow mostly encapsulated in the standing up or sitting down sports breakdown…

You may have read or heard about some scoffing (no other word for it) by Tory voter-types regarding their weighty contribution thus far regarding this.

However all of the UK track and field medallists so far have been state-schooled, many of them born abroad. So when you read/see/hear the raucous, unconditional, instinctive support for athletes such as Margaret Adeoye, Anyka Onuora and Yamile Aldama, none of whom were much fancied or had any profile outside athletics in the Olympic Park, and you think about the epic tale of class struggle portrayed in the opening ceremony, and you sense a different, post-antideluvian (apologies for that one:)) non-martial feeling around supporting the home athletes. Been an interesting week all right.

It’s possible it all might revert to dreary type. Fuh shizzle. Also just possible that all that “2 world wars and 1 world cup, doo daa, etc” hideousness is inexorably on the wane.

    We shall see.

    YO !

Gordon Smith might be THEE most ridiculous figure EVER in Scottish Football.

A football agent, Rangers player, head honcho at SFA, BBC pundit.

Yet, somehow he knows NOTHING, not ever, never, don’t even ask him about

    ANYTHING.

He deserves to get his arse kicked.

    And laughed at.

    And taken off the airwaves.

    Just for starters like.

Otter Snatches Man’s Wig In Glen Logie.

A heartwarming tale that sadly resulted in the otter being “relegated” to division three in the otter league.
