The Juninho EBT

1126

I see several “fans’ groups” are engaged on the subject of our old friend, Juninho, who played around 13 games for Celtic eight years ago and benefited from an Employee Benefit Trust before and during his time at the club.

Can you believe this is where their focus is?

As Sir David Murray and a gaggle of his former directors will tell you, there is nothing illegal in EBTs, it’s the undeclared second contracts the football authorities have a problem with. Juninho’s EBT was not subject to any contract or side letter whatsoever. Moreover, our then chairman, Brian Quinn, regarded EBTs with suspicion and instructed the club to declare Juninho’s to the Revenue. Celtic even paid tax on money paid to the EBT.

The SFA and SPL, and every journalist in Scotland interested in getting a story right, are fully aware of the facts.

I suppose running with this beats looking at links between Green and Whyte. Keep up the good work, guys!

And for the record, stripping titles is not the ultimate sanction, not by the length of Argyle St.

I wonder if Minty has been reading RTC and every discredited attempt by oldco fans to slither off the hook. Seems like he has bundled them all into the one statement. Too bad RTC has retired or that would have debunked in seconds.

  4. All this fuss and confusion is easily brought to a swift and satisfactory conclusion Moonbeams…..just publish the detais of the money that has been paid back on the loans. Lead by example and publish the repayments you have made against the £6m+ ‘loan’ you received.

    Simples

Sadly for our Dave this may still fail to satisfy the issue that all footballing payments made to players are to be declared to the governing body. There is also a brooding question from your statements about independant trustees of a benefits trust, would that make them third party to the club and player…..not liked in the football world as I understand from internet bampots. Conclusion, independant investigation Crack On.

  5. The problems at Rangers have brought no credit to Scottish football and are a tragedy for the Club and for all those connected with it and who support it. They cannot be condoned and it is appropriate that there should be a proportionate penalty for the Club for the events over the last year.

Over the last year? Oh dear……..

  7. Desperate from Minty Moonbeams. I am correct in saying not one penny has ever been paid back from these ‘loans’. If there were agreements, then surely Duff&Phelps were negligent in not pursuing these outstanding monies to help the club in administration. Right?

  8. Pop goes that balloon Minty…

Former Rangers owner Sir David Murray has denied any cheating took place during his stewardship of the club.

The Scottish Premier League has set up an independent commission to examine alleged undisclosed player payments.

And Murray is accusing the SPL of attempting to “retrospectively rewrite laws to incorporate items not previously covered”.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has added that any probe into hidden contracts is “probably a waste of time”.

“Rangers sought only to provide financial security for staff within the rules of law and football”

    Sir David Murray

The commission will determine whether the Ibrox club breached SPL rules in relation to employee benefit trust (EBT) payments and arrangements for players between 2001 and 2010.

BBC Scotland has seen evidence, which was submitted to a court, suggesting that 53 Rangers players and staff had side-letters giving undertakings to fund their sub-trusts with cash .

Scottish Football Association rules state that all payments made to players in respect of their earnings from football must be declared by their club.

It looks like many of the EBT payments were actually salaries that were paid up. See Billy Dodds. Completely illegal

If you know the history of the huns as well as I do it is quite a simple task to work out who that happened for.

This is why the hun looked so sleek in squad management and we appeared so parsimonious.

Ecks big EBT was when he had a salary dispute.

Was Dave Kings 25 million an EBT

Then their is the question about ex employees getting EBTs .. why ..what for ..was it legal.

The EBT tribunial cannot announce before the FTT can it ?

This is where it is getting interesting.

Has Sir Moonbeams managed to stifle the FTT and the SPL are about to pull the plug from under the whole corrupt she bang ?

It’s my fault for buying in a rush but it seems tickets are completely non-transferable. I can’t even give them away.

It’s not a huge amount of money so I can live with the loss but it is frustrating when there’s tons of people who can’t go. Any ideas?
