Credit to STV, who at least called Uefa to ask what was going on, and got a taste of the correspondence, with the carefully chosen words, “Rangers’ three-year exclusion from playing in Europe after going into liquidation was the major factor in a case not being pursued”.
Uefa’s correspondence to the Requistioners was far more explicit on the new club/same club point, and took no cognisance of other matters (5-way Agreement, anyone?).
It’s remarkable (and a credit to all involved) that Uefa responded to the Resolution 12 questions over two weeks ago but news didn’t leak. It’s simply not been possible for the guys to comment while matters progress, and despite yesterday’s ‘news’, they have avoided the temptation to fire off a response (others have also felt it imprudent to step into a public debate) for what remains an issue under legal guidance.
I know the lack of public information is frustrating (as is the associated flack, b.t.w.), but my best recommendation is that we let them get on with it.

Been hearing that, Brendan’s been having a team talk with the squad and, informed them that, he had been watching DVD’s of Celtic stuff from over the last 2 year period and, some of what he watched made him ask the players if they actually realized what club they are at ? He apparently told some of them that, from what he had viewed with his own eyes, certain players will no longer be at the club,….guid! I’m getting the first indications that, Brendan is nobodies puppet and will rule with an, iron fist in a velvet glove ala MO’N…..guid!
I’m also hearing that, John Park told a meeting of executives that, the recruitment of players to the club over the last few years which was hugely attributable to the drop off in attendances, couldn’t be placed at his door as, certain players scouted for the club by Park were sold on for enormous profits but, it clearly wasn’t Park’s fault that, these enormous profits were not re-invested in the team. Fair point….imho.
Guid times ahead on the pitch me thinks.

Brendan doing the right thing with recruitment. Forging a bond and trust with the current players by giving them all a chance and giving the youth players every incentive to work hard on the premise that there will be opportunities. New players will arrive in due course and some will leave. Hopefully we have one or two right good ones up our sleeve. Meanwhile new signing questions from the SMSM have been batted away. Already it’s evident he has the measure of them.

The purpose of this communication is to ask what measures have been taken by Coca-Cola/Powerade to enter into a dialogue with the Directors of Rangers Football Club, who I believe are sponsored by your organisation, about the continued singing of illegal sectarian and anti Catholics songs by supporters of Rangers Football Club.
I am extremely concerned by the conduct of the current Rangers Board in this respect and I am writing to you as a parent, to ask you to contact Rangers to articulate that sectarian singing at Scottish football matches is a criminal offence.
Can I ask that you consider some words of the song the ‘Billy Boys’ for example?
” We are up to our knees in Fenian blood surrender or you’ll die.”
Rangers supporters are referring to Irish Catholics.
This particular song is banned by law at soccer matches. It causes gross offence and yet it is continually sung by Rangers Supporters.
What compounds the offence is the attitude of the Rangers Board towards this behaviour.
To illustrate this point I have provided four enclosures,
1) Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012

At the recent Scottish Cup Final 2016, Rangers supporters can be heard singing this awful song throughout the game. Comments such as those attributed to Stewart Robertson the current Rangers Managing Director, are to say the very least unhelpful.“If I recall correctly, the Billy Boys was sung after the Hibs fans came on to the pitch.” The comment is not accurate and to many people it appears to provide justification for those who continue to break the law and sing illegal songs.
3) A Statement issued by Rangers Football Club on the 22nd of May in the aftermath of the Scottish Cup Final.

You will note that the Coca-Cola and Powerade Brands are prominently displayed at the foot of statement. In my view this associates Coca-Cola and Powerade with the contents of the statement.
You will also please note that the statement makes no reference to the sectarian singing. It minimises the role of the Rangers supporters who invaded the pitch and engaged in riotous behaviour. It criticises the BBC, the Scottish Football Association and the Scottish First Minister.
I gather that independant investigations are underway into the violence at the Scottish Cup Final.
4) A You Tube, video published on the 2nd of February 2015. The video is entitled ‘The Billy Boys are Back.’ Please note the singing from 2 minutes into the video. Please also not the distasteful comments placed by viewers.

The offence caused to the general public by this behaviour and the apparent approval of this behaviour by senior members of the Board members at Rangers Football Club?
