The SFA are trolling Celtic

We won the game, so this is not sour grapes, and the goal which gave St Johnstone the lead was a lesson in defensive failures: Matt O’Riley should have cleared the ball, Joe Hart should have commanded his six yard box, both carry a lot of responsibility for the goal.

However, Matt had to break free from a shirt hold to even get to the ball and the St Johnstone player who won the ball one yard in front of goal did so with his arm, which was fully extended from his body.  There is no need to fire off into a ‘They’re all against us’ rant, this may well be true, but it does not matter.  What is without doubt is that our refereeing and video assisted refereeing is not good enough.

There is so much shirt pulling in the game that referees and VARs could effectively decide the outcome of any game they choose.  Sometimes it is punished, on other occasions it is not.  Matt O’Riley was ‘unlucky’ in this respect yesterday.

The handball rule is clearer.  Play the ball with your hand or arm when it is extended from your body inside the box, and you can expect VAR to get involved.  It is inexplicable that such an event led to the opening goal yesterday.

VAR has not made our game worse, it is not the thing that has enabled one team to benefit, what it has done is turn the spotlight onto something which has been going on for a century.  We need VAR because we need its spotlight in order to drive improvement.  There was no way referee Don Robertson could be accused of turning a blind eye to yesterday’s handball.  He was unsighted and it happened too quick.

The VAR on the other hand?  It is just not good enough.  The SFA are trolling us if they pretend otherwise.  And for the record, I don’t believe the apparent randomness of outcomes is random.

It is a great benefit to know what your opponent will do.  Celtic absolutely know what our next several opponents will do at corner kicks.  They will put a wide-bodied player on Joe Hart.  Unless things change, Greg Taylor will attempt to out-muscle that player and prevent him from inhibiting Joe.  Joe will be unable to command his six-yard box.  What happens next is anyone’s guess, but the likelihood of a goal being scored is far higher than the paltry 3% industry standard.

Armed with this knowledge, we should never be fragile from a similar situation again.

    I hope not

As far as we can see from the public statements there has been no apology or act of contrition from them

Except from biting of the hand that feeds them/allows them a podium for their noise

Until they change their stance, I would have thought they will be on the outside looking in

In 2 or 3 years I expect them to fade to a distant memory

Outwith their magnificent support (and it is magnificent)

    They are a nuisance

Have you heard of diplomacy? These signings are not of BR’s making, Mark Lawwell is Head of Recruitment, and were well down the road of completion before Brendan came in

Why should the Green Brigade apologise for a load of lies?

If you weren`t so far up yourself you would know that.

The Green Brigade probably know that antisemitism is used as a trick to silence any questioning of Israel, especially after the recent public campaign of lies for 5 whole years that was used to crush the right honourable leader of HM opposition, Mr Jeremy Corbyn.

It is a horrible subject but it is also used as a trick, according to, Shulamit Aloni, a MP in Isreal who had George Galloway and other `real` left wingers from back in the day at her home were she told Mr Galloway that they used the AS trick to silence opponents!

You are proving that you are a worse judge than you are as a moderator, maybe get yourself another job eh?

Hopefully you`ll find what this lady said in here….after that you should do the honourable thing, call the PLC antisemites and resign!

Rather than thinking about the green brigade coming back to create atmosphere, the rest of the support should get right behind the team and generate the noise.

  6. I’m guessing when Brendan says he has the last word, the scenario is more like this:

Brendan “I need a goalie, a left back and a striker”

The Board “Brendan, we have player a and player b for goalie, player c and player d for left back, and player e and player f for striker”

    Brendan “I’ll have players a, c and f”

Voila, Brendan has last word on who we sign

Outside Ange and the asian market wwe have had so much success in??

I would imagine every club in the country is run the same way

Am sure there are players who managers have “known” about in their previous years in the game

    But they are outliers

    And fr from the norm

  8. garygillespieshamstring on

Brendan also said that if the players available to come weren’t what he needed, he wouldn’t sanction the signings.

Wage demands, transfer fees being demanded and willingness to come to Scotland were also factors

  9. The new EPL deal from 2025 is a lot of money

But when you divide it by 4 and get £1.65bn pa

And then divide that by 20 and get £80mill pa

    Throw in inflation

    And 270 matches pa

Doesn’t seem such a great deal to me

    Good evening, friends.

Firstly, a wee mention again that from now on the voting will close at 9.00pm (1 hour earlier than before) on the evening following each game. I occasionally have some very early morning grandparenting issues so it’s easier setting this new deadline for all games, rather than chopping and changing game by game. Results will usually then be out around 9.30pm. And now on to yesterday’s match.

I only saw the first half live, watching the 2nd half early this morning but having already known the score. I thought we played some decent, quick paced stuff in the opening 15 minutes but as soon as St Johnstone decided to try to come out of their own half the mood quickly changed. And I wasn’t surprised when we went behind following more poor set-piece defending.

Very few folk were surprised when Yang was taken off at half time but conversely were very surprised by Mikey Johnston’s 45 minutes. Most of our play went down the right hand side and although not everything came off, Johnston kept plugging away and delivering into the box. But for me the game really changed when Oh replaced Turnbull resulting in Kyogo dropping a bit deeper. Plenty of good link up play with a smattering of flicks and tricks and suddenly we were playing with real pace and desire. A goal was coming and duly arrived on the 67th minute from a fine sweet strike by Calum from the edge of the box. 12 minutes later and an even better shot from Matt capped off a wonderful flowing move.

We maintained our well deserved, but slender lead as an additional 5 minutes were added. Halfway through stoppage time St Johnstone had a really good chance to score but Joe pulled of a very important save which I was pleased to see was reflected by some of the voters. A fine fast break straight up the park saw James Forrest score Celtic’s 3rd goal and finally secure the points.

We have now played 21 games, winning 12, drawing 4 and losing 5 with 40 goals scored and 23 conceded.

My thanks to the 74 who participated in this game’s poll. One votre only allowed me to record 2 votes as I didn’t understand who ‘Wee Jazzer’ was.

The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked.

    Hart: 5

    Johnston, A: 3

    Carter-Vickers*: 15

    Scales: 6

    Taylor: 0

    McGregor: 50

    O’Riley*: 36

    Turnbull: 0

    Yang: 0

    Kyogo: 0

    Palma: 1

    Johnston, M*: 52

    Oh: 44

    Forrest: 7

    Iwata: 2

And so, the players receiving POINTS for the game against St Johnstone are –

    Johnston, M – 5 points

    McGregor – 4 points

    Oh – 3 points

    O’Riley – 2 points

    Carter-Vickers – 1 point

The overall positions after 21 games played are –

    56 points – Scales

    52 points – O’Riley

    27 points – Carter-Vickers

    25 points – McGregor

19 points – Kyogo and Palma

    18 points – Maeda

    16 points – Yang

    14 points – Oh

    12 points – Johnston, A

9 points – Nawrocki and Turnbull

    8 points – Hart

6 points – Lagerbielke and Taylor

5 points – Hatate, Johnstone M and Ralston

4 points – Bain and Bernardo

1 point – Forrest and Holm

0 points – Abada, Bernabei, Haksabanovic, Iwata, Phillips, Starfelt, Tilio and Welsh

Dont know if it did happen offhand.

    But it aint happening now

Not only that the value per match is going down, quite a bit actually.

Ok nobody is going to go hungry any time soon

But the big cats are going to feel that way

It should be weighted ( winners getting larger % etc) and not a equal division by 20.

But 31003 offers another fair point too.

More the big dogs get reduces the pot available for the rest.

And it will never be enough for those at the top

Why do you think six clubs signed up for the Euro Super league?

Amazon pulled out completely of the domestic deal

they know they can knock it down on the overseas

  16. In case it hasn’t been mentioned, very good news about injuries today.

Palma had cramp not a bad hammy

Abada and Madea are both training on the grass, Maeda is just ahead of Abada in his recovery, both should see game time this month

    Reo’s recovery going well

Nawrocki and Tilio both fit and looking to get into the team

Nearly a fully fit squad for the first time this season.

  17. celtic40me

All good news for us! Looks as if we will have a pretty decent squad going into the second half of the season.

If we have a good December we won’t need to sign any new players mid winter. Lets leave that until next summer, and then make the signings really count.

I have just purchased Celtic PPV for the game v Hibs at £12.99.

I have never been given a ” DISCOUNT CODE”, when I book Celtic PPV on an ” INDIVIDUAL” basis.

I can only assume that a ” DISCOUNT CODE” will apply for anyone who Pays/Subscribes for a WHOLE Season ?

I dont mind paying £12.99….to save any complications when ordering.

Maybe ” JAKE the PEG” would be a better option ?

A Striker with THREE Legs….not Two.
