I’ve always cautioned against judging a player who has been out for an extended period but being hooked at halftime last night looks like an ominous sign for Derk Boerrigter, who sparkled for 30 minutes on his debut against Ross County earlier in the season but has come nowhere close to that form since.
Injuries stopped him in his tracks that day against County, and several times since, but whatever the reason, we’ve not seen anything like what the player is capable of, and at 27, he is likely to be looking for first team action elsewhere next season.
After last night’s game Neil Lennon spoke of the possibility of signing and losing players over the summer transfer window, which starts in three weeks. Buying well is crucial, and Celtic didn’t do that last summer, but getting those ‘no longer in the manager’s plans’ off the books as early as possible is also important.
Last August we offloaded Lassad, probably by parting with a bundle of cash in the process. This is not a precedent Celtic will have been keen to set, but it’s better to have the decks cleared than have an unproductive player linger around for a year.
Anyone starting less than a third of the games he is available for selection should be looking for pastures new, especially with new arrivals expected this summer.

leftclick text me this morning to inform me of Wee Oscar’s passing, sad news indeed.
God Blees his Sould!
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
If I was asked to name the best thing I have been given through my time on CQN,without fear of contradiction Wee Oscar Knox would be my reply.
Thought about not posting but how can you not tell folk of the effect a warrior of a child has had on you.
My heart goes out to Stephen Leona & Izzy at this time.
Everytime I start to dwell on my cares worries and seeming problems since I 1st heard of the wee mhan a quick thought of him and they faded and were seen for what they were.
I look at the world and my trials in it in a completely different light because of Oscar.
So thank you to the Knox family for the gift that was wee Oscar he came into our lives and lit them up.
I’m sitting looking a a plain black & yellow wristband and smiling for what he has given us in his short time here.
So sleep well wee mhan you changed the way people looked at things and again I thank you and to everyone at #TeamOscar Y.N.W.A.

Rest in peace wee Oscar. As a few have said already, many on here would not have had the fortune to meet Oscar in person, sadly myself included. However, he was, and will always remain, a true inspiration to all who knew of his bravery – a lasting impression on us all.
To all the Knox family and their friends, my sincerest condolences on your tragic loss. Another taken from us too soon. May God Bless you wee man, and may you rest in eternal peace.
Such sad news. No more suffering for Oscar. Playing with other angels now.
RIP Oscar.
God bless the Knox family.

GOAL!!!! Jamie Lindsay with a powerful right-foot shot gives Celtic the lead.
An early goal for the bhoys.
It would be so appropriate for our young team to retain their championship today.

the saddest of weeks.. Saluting Oscar, his family & the dedicated men & women who provided his medical & other care..
Thoughts and affections go out to Oscar’s family.
I keep getting this image of a giggling wee five year old passing the ball around with giggling Jinky and Tommy Burns. I suspect the angels will be lucky to get a touch.

Another great Celtic man Michael Delaney was buried out of St Margarets in Airdrie this morning.

A very VERY important point.
A thought and a prayer for all the medical and auxiliary staff who helped look after Oscar and his parents and his sister during his lifetime and even beyond.
Those are truly great people — people of the highest quality and measure.
Rest in peace Oscar
Words, words are useless at times like this…so very saddened to hear of our little hero Oscar passing. Thoughts are with the little mans family and friends.
RIP and Hail Hail little fella
To Oscar, have fun in Heaven pal. My own wee boy, Aiden will welcome you up there and take you under his wing.
To Oscar’s parents, I understand how hard this must be. Keep the love of Oscar driving you on. His strength will now be your positivity.
To all of those who contributed to the quality of Oscar’s life here on earth by your generosity, his happiness is your reward.
